Dear Mr. Paddock,

I am very disappointed to see that the Daily Herald is so prejudiced against me. I am the son of a village pioneer who delivered the Daily Herald as a child. In the pages of the Daily Herald, however, I am treated as a villain, but I am not the villain in this case - I am the victim.

Your paper says: After a prolonged struggle on the front lawn, officers said, they hit Bollyn with a stun gun.

There was no "prolonged struggle" in my yard - there was no struggle at all.

This is a TOTAL lie. Such a lie, Mr. Paddock, is a dangerous lie. This is not a "white lie." This is a very BLACK lie. A fabrication. A malicious lie.

I was suddenly assaulted and attacked from behind by threee unidentified armed men and TASERed when I was handcuffed. The TASER was given to me when I was handcuffed and pinned to the ground by two police officers.

Do you accept such behaviour by the police? Would you want your children to be TASERed when they are restrained? After 4 months, your paper still has not asked me for my side of the story. What kind of newspaper are you running? Do you care about the people who live in these towns?

What kind of nonsense does your paper print? Why don't you ask the victim what happened for a honest story? Why don't you even address the concerns of the citizen?

Get both sides! What do you expect the police to say about their abuse of power? That they accept that they did something wrong? When was the last time you heard the police say that?

What will you write when a local TASER victim dies in police custody? Will you simply repeat the police statements that there were other causes involved? Believe me, it will happen and your paper will have to deal with it.

Mr. Paddock, the TASER weapon kills people. It is not harmless or non-lethal.

I am part of the neighborhood watch group and I keep an eye on what goes in my neighborhood. The children from the neighborhood play mostly in our yard. They were playing in this yard when the police intruded onto my property and TASERed me. I was told by the Illinois Task Force on Terrorism that I did the right thing to report this car with armed men.

Look what it got me: a TASERing and a broken elbow!

Whose side are you on?

The TASER is not a non-lethal, harmless device as the police are led to believe. It is a very dangerous device that causes death and injury. Even police are being injured!

I have attached my letter to the village of Naperville where a police man was seriously injured while training with the TASER:

I am an independent journalist looking into the TASER-related injury of Officer Gregory Matthew Rink of the Naperville Police Dept. This is clearly an important story that needs to be told. I find it hard to believe that Naperville has suppressed this story for so long.

If TASER International sold these TASERs to Naperville having told them that they are harmless and non-lethal, then you should sue TASER for having lied in their description of the product. It does not benefit the government or people of Naperville to suppress this story about the injuries suffered by Officer Rink as a result of being TASERed.

I just had a very unpleasant conversation with Margo Ely, the city attorney for Naperville. I am a journalist and her comments do not reflect nicely on the city government of Naperville. She was very rude and unprofessional in her remarks. She said it was irresponsible of me to be looking into this story as I am.

I am researching the TASER and have written several articles about it. I was TASERed on August 15 of this year while I was restrained in handcuffs. This made me very ill for several weeks as a result. I was close to death.

On November 11, I had an event at Schaumburg Library in which I discussed publicly the TASER incident and there I was told of a police officer named Rink who was seriously injured (paralyzed I was told) in Naperville, Illinois when he was training with the TASER.

This 34-year-old officer was seriously injured as a result of being TASERed.

This story is clearly being suppressed. If a police officer is injured on the job due to the use of a TASER this is not a private matter. This is a public matter. It is the public of Naperville who is most likely to be on the receiving end of a TASER in the hands of the Naperville police. The public paid for the TASERs and the public pays the police and elects the city government. This is clearly NOT a private matter of the health of Officer Rink. This is a public matter in the center of international debate on the use of the TASER by police.

The assignment editor of the local paper, the Naperville Sun, had not even heard of this event. If the TASER is causing such injuries to police, what is it doing to the public? What makes you think this is a harmless device that will not cause permanent damage to people who are TASERed?

I think you would agree that such a subject concerning a vital concern to the public health should not be suppressed. I would hope that Naperville would see the wisdom of discussing this matter openly.

Assault case continued:

The aggravated assault and resisting arrest charges against former Hoffman Estates mayoral candidate Christopher Lee Bollyn were continued Tuesday to the end of January in the Rolling Meadows branch of Cook County Circuit Court. Bollyn, 49, was arrested after an Aug. 15 altercation outside his home, after Bollyn called police to say he saw a suspicious vehicle cruising his block. The officers who responded to his call said they told him the car was an undercover police vehicle, after which Bollyn allegedly became "irate and belligerent" and reportedly made statements that led officers to believe he might try to get a weapon from his home. After a prolonged struggle on the front lawn, officers said, they hit Bollyn with a stun gun. Bollyn is next scheduled to appear in court Jan. 31. He ran for mayor in 2000.

The great blood libel of Sept. 11

Bradley Burston, a correspondent with the Israeli newspaper Ha'aretz (which means "the land of Israel) has written an article (www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/772321.html) in which he attempts to malign Christopher Bollyn and his 9/11 research.

How odd that Bollyn is being attacked from every angle at the same time. First assaulted and TASERed by undercover police on his front lawn, then attacked by Scott Makufka and Lisa Guliani of WING TV, then the subject of a national press release by the Anti Defamation League (ADL) – and now this.

The essence of Burston's article, "Blood libels never die, they just get digitized" is that my research into Israeli-state involvement in the false flag terror attacks of 9/11 should be dismissed by sensible people as nothing more than "Jew hate."

Burston says he found "Jew hate" manifested at Ground Zero.

"I was handed a complimentary DVD by a 9/11 conspiracist," Burston wrote. "It was a newly enhanced version of the Protocols of the new millennium, the theory…that it was Israel and the Mossad that brought down the World Trade Center."

"The Anti-Defamation League and other groups have labored mightily to combat the theories," Burston tells his readers quoting that notorious Jewish Freemason organization founded by the B'nai B'rith in Chicago some 90 years ago. "Reviewing five years of intensive activity, however, the ADL said last month that 'Today, those theories are even more widespread and some have taken their anti-Semitic allegations even farther by claiming that it was specifically Jewish members of the Bush Administration who directed the government in planning the attacks for the benefit of Israel.'"

"Look no further than the case of Kobi Alexander, the one-time software guru who made it to the FBI's Most Wanted list on the strength of alleged stock option book-cooking and other allegations," Burston wrote.

"Writer Christopher Bollyn, one of the more prolific conspiracists, calls Alexander 'the Israeli crook who owned the Mossad companies who had clear foreknowledge of the terror attacks of 9/11.'

"According to Bollyn, employees of an Israeli-based software firm called Odigo received word of the 9/11 attacks some two hours before they took place.

"Odigo had its U.S. headquarters two blocks from the WTC. The Odigo employees, however, did not pass the warning on to the authorities in New York City, a move that could have saved thousands of lives."

"He goes on to state that Odigo, 'like many Israeli software companies, is based and has its Research and Development (R&D) center in Herzliya, Israel, the small town north of Tel Aviv, which happens to be where Mossad's headquarters are located' and that 'shortly after 9/11, Odigo was taken over by Comverse Technology,' Kobi Alexander's flagship concern."

The examples are endless, the conclusion one: The Jews did it. The Jew media covered it up. The Jews did it so that America would have to go to war, shedding the blood of Christian boys in a fight against Israel's Muslim enemies.

"Never in the history of the Jewish people has one terrible lie about 'Jewish control' spread so quickly and with such power, captivating not only those on the extreme fringe but the educated elite, particularly in the Muslim and Arab word," ADL National Director Foxman said in 2003.

"The Big Lie has been repeated by imams, the press and government officials in the Arab world, and is contributing to disturbing and dangerous mutations in global anti-Semitism."

"Perhaps it was only inevitable, given the low purposes to which high-technology has been adapted, that the ADL found that one of the mutations is none other than that the one once spread by direct priest-peasant contact: the idea that the key ingredient in Passover matzo dough is the lifeblood of a Christian boy."

My response would be to address the facts and the evidence. I did not make up the Odigo story. Who did send those messages and to whom were they sent - and exactly what did they say?

The many connections of Israeli intelligence to 9/11 is not going to go away by attacking me and others like Professor Jones. This concerted effort to attack me and discredit me only shows that there is merit to what I have found and written about 9/11 and the Israeli Connection.

It's after 2 a.m. in the morning, my deadline is tomorrow, and I have been beaten up by the local police and my right elbow is sorely hurting, but I need to write down exactly what happened to me today before I go to sleep. Otherwise I will forget important details.

I was harassed, beaten, and shocked with a Tazer-like gun in my front yard before my wife and children, and then abused for 6 hours by the ADL-trained local police. I have every reason to believe it is because of my journalistic investigation into 9/11. I have been threatened before in my career as a journalist, but this is the first time I have been intentionally beaten and abused – by the cops.

I have investigated 9/11 since it happened and looked into the many unanswered questions of the terror attacks. I discovered last year that I had had at least two FBI informants crawling around my house for years. This is the main reason I do not feel safe in the United States. It is also why I spend much of the time in Europe or at safe houses in this country, with fellow 9/11 researchers like Ellen Mariani and Eric Hufschmid. I have two small children.

I have only been at my old home in Hoffman Estates for a couple of weeks, mainly because my road-weary children dearly love this old red house, which is the only home they have ever known. It is just a simple Hoffman-Rosner suburban Chicago tract home that my late parents bought in 1957, but it's home.

I had noticed an unusual amount of police activity around my house since I returned. We live on a quiet side street where one might normally see a police cruiser once or twice a week. Since I returned I have noticed all kinds of police cars and devices in the immediate proximity of my house.

But yesterday there was something very unusual around my house. It was an unmarked car with three armed men with body armor driving around my block as I rode my bike to the store. Who in the heck is that? I thought to myself. It looks like they are going to my house, but I won't be there, I thought.

Then today, the same time and the same car with three men passed slowly by my house where the neighborhood kids were playing. "Hello, FBI," I said from my porch and waved.

The man in the front passenger seat waved back. I immediately alerted my wife and kids. Helje said I should stop them and ask them what they want.

For background, today I was working on two rather big stories and I made a lot of phone calls to the Embassy of Israel, the S.E.C., the office of the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York, and to an old Israeli living in New York who I have suspicions may be a key player in 9/11. I'd like to discuss this lead but I can't at this point.

All of my calls were about 9/11 related, except for the calls to the Embassy and local consulate of Israel. These were standard journalistic inquiries about Israel casualties and losses in Lebanon. The Embassy press department didn't like my questions, but I told them it's my job. I wanted to know about the number of dead and wounded and if 60 Merkava tanks had been taken out, as Hezbollah claims.

Then I also asked where exactly the two Israeli soldiers had been abducted. I told them that there were at least 15 newswire stories that said the soldiers had been captured in the Lebanese village of Aitaa al-Shaab – inside Lebanon. He was surprised to hear that, too.

Apart from my un-disclosable investigation, the other calls were about how Jacob "Kobi" Alexander was able to flee with more than $60 million dollars last week, several months after it was public knowledge that he and the other Israelis working with Comverse Technology, Ltd. had swindled hundred of millions through fraudulent stock options trades. This has been going on for years, and The Wall Street Journal and Globes (Israel) reported the names and the amounts last March. For crying out loud, my newspaper, American Free Press, reported it in April 2005.

I wanted to know from the SEC and the U.S. Attorney's office how this Kobi Alexander was able to wire $60 million to his account in Israel and flee New York without any body stopping him. "If I wired $5 million to Norway the whole NSA and FBI would be all over me," I said.

The U.S. Attorney's office said they "expect" Kobi will turn himself in. Note to the wise: Don't count on it.

Kobi Alexander was one of the owners and developers of Odigo software which allowed Israelis to communicate instantly on 9/11. It was via the "buddy system" on Odigo software, which allows one to communicate to a large group of people that share a trait, such as the Hebrew language, that thousands of Israelis were warned not to go to the twin towers on 9/11.

Kobi Alexander's Mossad-linked company, Comverse Technology, was a developer and owner of Odigo since early 2000, something The New York Times does not consider to be part of "All the News that's Fit to Print." Comverse makes a black box system called the "Audio Disk" that police, intelligence and security agencies, and governments around the world, have attached to their phone networks. This simple device allows the Israeli employees of Comverse back in Tel Aviv to hear and intercept all the data being exchanged by these naive agencies...everything.

Hello...?

I had finished all of my calls and watched the first part of the Lou Dobb's news program on CNN and was on my way to the store, when I stepped out on the stoop and saw this threatening dark car full of obvious agents of some sort. I immediately warned my wife and kids and rode the bike to the store.

Something is not right, I said to myself, and I stopped at the local wine shop and asked to use the phone. I called 911 and told them that a strange car with armed men is driving around my neighborhood for no apparent reason. I was told that a police car would meet me at my house in 20 minutes.

I was just in my house a few minutes when the very same suspicious car stopped in front of my house and three armor-clad men stood on my driveway. I had just been calling the police department and put down the phone. I was more than a little surprised to see these armor-clad thugs on my driveway.

My wife and 8-year old daughter were already there and I asked these men who they were and why they were harassing my street. Why are you driving around with this unmarked car around my house, I asked? Who are you, anyway? They were not at all willing to identify themselves and were very confrontational, to say the least.

I ran to my front door to call my brother when the three of them tackled me and shocked me with some sort of stun-gun. The three men then sat on me and pushed my face in the dirt, handcuffed me and put me in their car.

Remember, I had called 911 because of a suspicious car in my neighborhood, a neighborhood I have known since 1957, when my parents helped found this town.

I have two small children, after all, and this car looked very threatening to me. This is what I call my normal neighborhood obligations, but I discovered that they are actually watching us. They even joked about it at the station later. "We are watching you," they said.

It should be noted that my neighborhood does not have any crime or gangs or anything of that nature that would warrant an undercover squad to patrol around my house day after day. This is why it is so suspicious. And why are they patrolling around my house?

As they pummeled me, my wife was pleading for me and my daughter was crying. I really wanted my brother, my neighbors, and my son to come help me but before even one minute had passed there were dozens of cops and firemen in my front yard.

Where did they all come from so quickly? How were so many police in my neighborhood at the same time? This is most unusual, as Hoffman Estates is spread out all over northwest Cook County, but there were at least 5 squad cars and at least 10 officers in my front yard within one minute of my being beaten up on my lawn.

Sitting in the squad car with handcuffs on is when the private abuse began. Officer Fitzgerald indulged in offending me, my late mother, a village pioneer, and then threatened to beat me.

When another officer came to the car, he told me that this guy was going to beat the ---- out of me. When I repeated what he said word for word, he would say, "I didn't say that."

He then started to drive me to the station, which is about three miles away from the old village center where I live. Bombarded with continuous verbal abuse, when I would say something from the back-seat he would slam on the brakes so that my head hit the plexi-glass separation window. Typical Chicago cop torture treatment; rough the guy up on the way to the station. This is exactly the kind of thing that I ran against when I ran for mayor of this town in 2001.

I decided to lean back on the seat and not say another word.

When we got to the station, there was a host of white-gloved cops waiting for me in the police garage. When Officer Fitzgerald drove in to the garage, he told the 10-12 waiting cops: "He says cops are a bunch of ……….. You can take care of him now."

When they took me out, I informed them that I am a journalist and will write about their treatment. The verbal abuse now came from all sides. They told me I should get out of town, etc. I told them that my dear parents had founded Hoffman Estates, but they didn't care.

When I was in the station they forcibly stripped off my belt and tore of my shirt leaving me clad only in shorts and undershirt. I asked why I was being detained and they told me that I had resisted arrest and threatened the police with my fists, two complete lies.

I was never the subject of any arrest. I had called to police to report a suspicious vehicle driving around my home!

I was thrown into a cell with no water. I asked for a drink of water and was told, "Drink from the toilet."

Why am I being treated this way, I wondered?

At midnight, an officer came to my cell and asked if I could pay $100 to get out. What I am being charged with, I asked? I called the police and they beat me up in my front yard, I protested.

What did I do to deserve that?

My older brother had posted bail and shortly after midnight, I was pushed out onto the street with a good two-mile walk home.

I am shocked at how I was treated, because although my journalism gets me into trouble with police in many places, I have never been treated so brutally in my life. I honestly believe this brutal treatment is connected to my 9/11 research.

I intend to seek asylum in Norway or Switzerland. I can read the writing on the wall.

Investigative journalists are not safe in Iraq – or the United States.

9-11 Investigative Journalist Harassed And Beaten By Undercover Cops

After calling 911 to report a suspicious vehicle with three armed men in my neighborhood, I was harassed, beaten and shocked with a Taser gun in my front yard in Hoffman Estates, Ill., in front of my wife and child. I was subsequently charged with resisting arrest and aggravated assault. I was then subjected to six hours of abuse at the hands of the local police.

I suspect that this operation was not accidental and was not an initiative of the local police. The questions remains whether I have been targeted as part of an ADL-FBI operation because of my journalistic investigations. Over the years, I have investigated the many unanswered questions surrounding 9-11. Having received several threats in my career with AFP and the now defunct Spotlight newspaper, this is the first time I have been beaten and abused by authorities.

Last summer, we discovered that two local people, who had befriended us for years, are actually FBI informants tasked to monitor us. For this reason, we feel vulnerable and are reluctant to spend time at our home. We returned this summer primarily because our children badly missed our home, a simple suburban tract home that has belonged to the Bollyn family since 1957.

Since returning to the area in July, I have noticed an unusual amount of police activity around my house, which lies on a quiet side street where one normally sees a police cruiser once or twice a week.

On Aug. 14, I noticed an unusual vehicle around my house. It was an unmarked car with three armed men wearing body armor.

The next evening, the same car with three men slowly passed the Bollyn house where the neighborhood kids were playing.

“Hello, FBI,” I called from my porch and waved.

The man in the front passenger seat waved back. I immediately alerted my wife and kids about the suspicious vehicle. My wife suggested asking them what they want.

I had just finished making several phone calls to the Israeli embassy, the Securities and Exchange Commission, and the office of the U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of New York. Most of the calls were related to 9-11 research. One call was to an older Israeli, who is connected to the Israeli Air Force and is a former president of Bedek, the parent company of Israel Aircraft Industries.

I was troubled about the presence of the dark car as I went to the store. Concerned about my family, I called 911 from the store to report the suspicious car with armed men loitering in my neighborhood. I was told that a police officer would meet me at my house in 20 minutes.

A few minutes, I was surprised to see the suspicious car stopped in front of my house, and three armed men in body armor standing on my driveway.

With my wife and 8-year old daughter beside me, I asked who these men were and why they were prowling around my house. “Why are you driving around with this gear in an unmarked car menacing my house,” I asked? “Who are you?”

The non-uniformed agents were unwilling to identify themselves and became confrontational.

I went to call my brother from the house when the three men tackled me from behind and shocked me with a Taser gun while they sat on top of me. After forcefully subduing me, one officer kneeled on my head while the others handcuffed me.

Within minutes, a half dozen police cars, two fire trucks and at least 15 police officers, including a senior officer, arrived at my residence.

While I was being held down, my wife went to get a camera. An officer told her that she would be arrested if she dared to take any photos. According to a local lawyer consulted on this matter, I have been told it is against the law to prevent someone from photographing a police assault.

Having witnessed her father being violently arrested, my 8-year old daughter was distraught and crying. The police told my wife to take her away.

My wife consoled our daughter, but since the Bollyn children have seen much of the world, and witnessed major political events, she allowed our daughter to watch it, saying, “This is our new America.”

In an insulting manner, the police told my wife, a Swedish citizen, to “go back where you came from.”

Because the neighborhood does not have any crime or gang problems, I thought it was very odd for the undercover squad to be patrolling around my house day after day.

Sitting in the unmarked car with handcuffs on, an officer named Fitzgerald indulged in offending me and my late mother, a village pioneer. Fitzgerald repeatedly told me that I was going to be beaten.

“This guy was going to beat the [expletive] out of you,” he said when a senior officer approached the car. When I spoke to the other officer, Fitzgerald lied, saying, “I didn’t say that.”

The verbal abuse continued during the drive to the station. When I would lean forward, the officer would slam on the brakes so my head hit the plexiglass separation window. After doing this several times, I pushed myself back on the seat and didn’t say another word.

Once I reached the police station, however, my ordeal was far from over. At the station, a host of rubber-gloved cops awaited me in the police garage.

When Fitzgerald drove in to the garage, he told the 10-12 waiting cops: “He says cops are a bunch of [expletive]. You take care of him now.”

When I was pulled from the car, I told the police that I am a journalist and that I would write about the arrest. The verbal abuse now came from all sides. As the son of village pioneers, I was told that I should get out of town.

In the station, my shirt was ripped off, and I was left wearing only shorts and an undershirt. Asked why I was being detained, an officer said I had resisted arrest and threatened the police with clenched fists—two complete lies.

When I was thrown into a cell without water, I asked the undercover police why they were prowling around my house. “We are watching you,” Fitzgerald, said.

Thirsty, I asked for some water and was told, “Drink from the toilet.”

A police officer came to tell me that because I had been shocked with a Taser gun, paramedics had been called. However, no paramedics ever came to see me.

“Why am I being treated this way?” I wondered.

At midnight, an officer told me that I had to pay $100 to get out. “What am I being charged with?” I asked. “I called 911 and the police beat me up in my front yard for no reason.”

Eventually, my brother paid bail and shortly after midnight, I was pushed out onto the street for the long walk home.

On Aug. 16, AFP managing editor Christopher J. Petherick spoke with Lt. Richard Russo, who was acting as press spokesman for the Hoffman Estates Police Department while a superior officer was on vacation.

Russo faxed American Free Press a copy of the “Media Information Release Form,” which provided the police’s version of my arrest.

“Lt. Russo told me on the phone that undercover officers were engaged in something called ‘gang suppression’ in Mr. Bollyn’s neighborhood,” said Petherick.

Petherick said he pointedly asked Russo how this could have escalated to the point that police officers threw me to the ground and shot me with a Taser.

“Russo told me that the arresting officer had ‘physically’ stopped Bollyn and Tasered him because he said that Bollyn had made statements indicating that he was going to go inside the house and get a weapon,” said Petherick.

However, when Petherick received the press release, the charge that I was going into the house to get a weapon had been downplayed, instead noting that officers felt I “may be trying to get a weapon.”

“Keep in mind that Christopher, who was unarmed and has no criminal record, was the person who called the police in the first place,” said Petherick.

“There are really two key scenarios at play here,” remarked Petherick. “At a minimum, this was a brutal demonstration of the violent militarization of U.S. law enforcement. But at its worst, this was a deliberate attempt to intimidate and harass an American reporter, who has been writing about some of the most controversial issues, today.”

In the afternoon, Chief Clint Herdegen phoned Bollyn and said he was not ready to answer any questions. A court hearing is scheduled for me on Sept. 13.

Christopher Bollyn will meet with the Chief of Police Clint Herdegen and Village Manager Jim Norris at the Village Hall of Hoffman Estates, Illinois, today at 3:30 p.m. The village hall is located at 1900 Hassell Road.

Christopher Bollyn, a journalist with American Free Press of Washington, D.C. and a life-long resident of Hoffman Estates, suffered a brutal and completely unprovoked police assault at his home two days ago.

In a clear incident of police harassment and brutality, Christopher Bollyn was forcibly arrested and shocked with a Taser gun while being held down on his front lawn. The incident occurred on August 15 after Bollyn had made a 911 call reporting a suspicious car with three armed men loitering in the immediate vicinity of his home.

Shortly after the 911 phone call, the same unmarked car showed up in front of the Bollyn house and three armed men approached his house. The armor-clad and well-armed men were not wearing any uniforms, refused to identify themselves, and assumed a hostile and confrontational position from the beginning.

They refused repeated requests to show any police identification or explain why they had circled Bollyn's residence for the past two days. The confrontational attitude of the un-uniformed and heavily armed men resulted in an unprovoked assault and Bollyn's brutal arrest.

Contrary to what the police report says, Bollyn was never informed that the car was an undercover police vehicle or its reason for circling his block. The men refused to produce any identification despite repeated requests from the Bollyns.

The police claim that Bollyn was going to get a weapon from the house is a complete fabrication created after the arrest. Bollyn never said or did anything threatening as he stood on his driveway beside his wife and 8-year old daughter.

He clearly said he was going to get his brother to help with the situation. As he turned to his house he was brutally attacked from behind, pinned to the ground by the three un-identified men who held him down and shocked with a Taser weapon as they handcuffed him. Bollyn did not resist the police in any way during the entire incident.

Bollyn considers this incident to be an alarming and egregious abuse of police power by the authorities of Hoffman Estates.

Bollyn has been charged with resisting arrest and aggravated assault and will appear in court on September 13, 2006 at 1:30 p.m. at the Circuit Court of Cook County at 2121 Euclid Avenue in Rolling Meadows. He is to appear at Branch No. 3 in Room 102.

All supporters, media, and victims of police brutality are encouraged to attend. This is an important case that deserves a fair hearing.

Was Homeland Security Behind Attack On 911 Investigative Journalist Bollyn?

The "undercover tactical unit" involved in the assault and TASERing of a 9/11 investigative journalist at his Chicago-area home was most likely an operation ordered by the Department of Homeland Security, according to a former high-ranking police official.

Since the bizarre and brutal attack against me by three heavily-armed agents at my family home in Hoffman Estates , Illinois , a number of people have commented on the seemingly odd use of an "undercover tactical unit" to respond to a non-emergency 911 call.

Some of the most insightful comments have come from a former senior police official from Illinois , who spoke to a source close to AFP. The former police chief was familiar with the details of the incident when he made his comments.

The former police chief said the deployment of an armed tactical unit wearing body-armor on a "gang suppression" exercise in a neighborhood in which there are no gangs or history of gang activity was itself "highly unusual."

Although the Hoffman Estates Police Department (HEPD) C.O.P. Clint Herdegen told AFP that the tactical unit was on a normal patrol, this unit of heavily-armed men had never been seen before in the neighborhood prior to the night before the incident.

That this undercover unit of three agents, supposedly on a mission of "gang suppression," wearing tactical gear and ready to "do battle," would "blow their cover" by responding to a non-emergency 911 call from a concerned citizen about their presence in his neighborhood is one of the many anomalies of the incident.

The Illinois Terrorism Task Force (ITTF) has released a video entitled "Homeland Security Begins at Home: 7 Signs of Terrorism." Patty Thompson, spokesman for the task force, told AFP that calling 911 to report unidentified armed men is exactly what the ITTF would expect a citizen to do.

Why did a covert "gang suppression" unit leave their so-called "patrol" and respond to a non-emergency 911 call? Did these three unidentified heavily-armed agents have any right to respond to a 911 call and did they have any right to come onto my property without a warrant or probable cause, legal experts ask.

The Chicago Police Department has guidelines, specifically adopted "to ensure that the anti-gang loitering is not enforced in an arbitrary or discriminatory way." Under the CPD guidelines, the Ordinance may be enforced only by trained officers in "areas frequented by members of criminal street gangs." Such gangs do not exist in my neighborhood, and never have.

In the opinion of the former police chief, the operation appears to have been ordered by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), under the leadership of the Israeli-American dual national Michael Chertoff. Chertoff, who has been the subject of several of my articles about 9/11 and the failure of his department to respond to Hurricane Katrina, is the son of Livia Eisen, one of the first agents of Israel's military intelligence agency, the Mossad.

The purpose of the heavily-armed "gang suppression" squad in a neighborhood in which there has never been any gang activity was meant to "intimidate, scare, and harass" me, according to the former police chief. The "gang" that was being monitored was, in fact, me, he said, but the tactical unit and the local police chief were probably not aware of the political nature of the target. The tactical unit had probably only been told that I was a "very dangerous person."

The reason for the conspicuous presence of the heavily-armed agents around my house was to create a provocation and confrontation, according to the former police chief, in which I would be arrested and humiliated.

The local chief-of-police would probably have been the only local official who had direct connection with DHS, according to the former chief. DHS maintains contacts with local police departments and is able to give orders to local officials, according to its mandate.

"More than 87,000 different governmental jurisdictions at the federal, state, and local level have homeland security responsibilities," according to the DHS "organization" webpage dedicated to "Department Subcomponents and Agencies."

Experts have "come to expect" that DHS will involve local police playing "a large role in many aspects of homeland security," according to a September 2005 article by David Thacher, "The Local Role in Homeland Security," in Law & Society Review.

A recent analysis, cited by Thacher, indicated that local police would be "developing new areas of investigative expertise, cooperating much more with federal law enforcement and intelligence agencies, working more closely with the military, [and] increasing their levels of surveillance over their communities."

An inquiry to DHS asking about the precise nature of its interaction with local police departments went unanswered. Lt. Richard Russo, spokesman for the HEPD, however, told AFP that senior officers had gone through "command post" training with DHS and a private New York-based contractor called BowMac.

Lt. Dennis Carroll of the neighboring Schaumburg P.D. told AFP that DHS and the Schaumburg police "work very well together." Asked who handles the communication with the federal agency, Carroll said there is a liaison at the police department.

Russo did not know if local police are required to act on orders given by DHS, but said they probably would, in the spirit of mutual co-operation with the federal agency.

A former Swedish marine and public safety expert who works in France commented on the odd use of a "gang suppression team" to respond to a 911 call. The decision by the HEPD to send the undercover unit to explain their presence was "illogical," according to the European public safety expert.

"This was provocative, threatening, and very unusual," he said. "This is not the way to handle a 911 call. The gang suppression team should have been instructed not to get out of the car. There was no need to get out of the car, but if there were, the proper thing would have been to send only one man to the house without a gun. Or better, wait for an official, marked police car with a uniformed officer to explain the situation.

"Police teams of any kind always operate in pairs," he said. "Police teams never operate in formations of three for obvious reasons."

"Gangs are local juveniles with some strange ways," the France-based public safety expert wrote, "Easily handled by social workers, not undercover agents in body armor. So the statement by the HEPD that undercover agents were on a gang suppression mission seems to be an outrageous lie." In France , gang suppression units always have a person videotaping their actions. In my case, there was no filming by the police and my wife was physically prevented from taking photographs.

The police have offered two explanations about why the "gang suppression" unit was sent, both of which seem illogical. The first is that this was the nearest unit, although the 911 call was not an emergency call, but rather a request for an explanation more than 30 minutes after I had observed the heavily-armed unit near my house. However, after the arrival of the tactical unit, a half-dozen squad cars and two emergency vehicles immediately appeared on the scene to support the action.

The uniformed police, however, clearly had orders not to intervene and stayed back until after the assault and arrest had been completed. This raises the question, what were the orders given to the tactical unit and to the uniformed police?

An AFP supporter contacted the Palo Alto Police Department ( Calif. ) to ask if citizens, believing that armed federal agents are spying on their home without probable cause, are entitled to call 911 and report the apparent threat to their safety?

"Yes, one can call 911," the Palo Alto police spokesperson said. "But," she added, "if federal agents are watching a home, in most cases, the local law enforcement is notified, and they are in contact with the federal agents, but local police are not to reveal which agency is involved or why." Nor are the local police allowed to intervene in any action taken by the federal agents.

Chief Herdegen of the HEPD subsequently told AFP that the tactical unit had returned to my house to identify themselves and explain their purpose. However, despite repeated requests, the three men refused to do either. Why would the HEPD send a unit who could not, or would not, identify themselves? The refusal by the armed agents to identify themselves as legitimate police officers prevented them from resolving the 911 call, and allowed them to exacerbate the situation leading to the violent assault.

Bollyn, who has written for AFP (formerly The Spotlight) since June 2000, was terminated in an email memo from Petherick "effective immediately."

Petherick's letter of dismissal gave two reasons for firing Bollyn:

His first reason:
Petherick implies that I have submitted false stories. I have, therefore, asked him to clarify exactly which stories of mine were factually incorrect.

Petherick's second reason was that I was a disloyal employee who had accused AFP of being under the control of some other agency. He said,
I have asked Petherick to show where and when I have accused "AFP of being under the control of some other agency."

As of this point, Petherick has failed to clarify his accusations and statements.

Petherick concluded his notice of dismissal saying,"For the reasons above, please do not bother to submit anything else to this newspaper. In addition, we will no longer be able to pay your salary.

It should be noted that Bollyn was fired some 6 weeks after being attacked and TASERed by undercover police at his home. The identities of the three men involved in the police provocation and assault were kept secret for over a month.

American Free Press has collected funds at its office in Washington for a legal defense fund for Bollyn. Bollyn has repeatedly requested a list of the donors in order to thank them personally. As of this point Bollyn has not received a list and has no idea how much money has been raised for his forthcoming legal battle.

During American Free Press's recent "First Amendment" conference in Washington, Bollyn was told to stay away by the senior staff of American Free Press. Bollyn was told that Michael Piper had given an ultimatum that either he or Bollyn would attend. If Bollyn were to attend, Piper said he would boycott the conference.




Bollyn's arrest was followed by an immediate and intense attack on his character by Scott Makufka (a.k.a. Victor Thorn) and Lisa Guliani of WING TV. Bollyn first became aware of WING TV's character assassination campaign against him on Piper's radio show in which he was aggressively interrogated by Makufka.

Makufka and Guliani also write for AFP and its sister publication The Barnes Review. They have on-going book publishing and sales arrangements with AFP. WING TV has worked closely with Piper and published a book of his called Dirty Secrets (2005).

Bollyn had only recently started to defend himself from the attacks of Makufka and Guliani by posting factual information about them and their background on the Rumor Mill News website.

WING TV's "character assassination" attacks of Bollyn are on-going in different forums and continue to this day. AFP has done nothing to stop their attacks against Bollyn.

Bollyn first reported the discovery of molten metal in the summer of 2002 after speaking with two of the contractors who oversaw the removal of the debris. Jones has determined that the metal is from a Thermite reaction, evidence of a controlled demolition of the three WTC towers.

In the past month both Jones and Bollyn have been removed from their jobs after being attacked and publicly humiliated for their 9/11 research. In both cases, a radio show was used to set up a situation in order to malign the two researchers and question their credibility.

AFP's Statement on the Dismissal of Christopher Bollyn

As many people are already aware, we were recently put in a difficult position and felt it had become necessary to distance ourselves from Christopher Bollyn. This decision, made by the entire editorial board, had to be made. So far, we have tried to respect the privacy of Christopher by not discussing our views on this matter with the general public, but following a series of disclosures by Christopher himself, we felt it was necessary to release to the public the details behind his termination.

Recently it came to our attention that, on at least three occasions—publicly and privately—Christopher has given credence to a pernicious charge that American Free Press has been infiltrated and controlled by “Zionists,” thus lending his support to attacks on the credibility and integrity of American Free Press and its staff.

Of course, this isn’t the first time someone has attacked us with baseless smears. However, the fact that they came from one of our own meant we had to take these accusations very seriously and deal with them directly, as our credibility is the foundation upon which this publication has been built.

At first we stood by Christopher following his brutal attack at the hands of the police. We published articles written by him about the terrible incident—even going so far as to add supplementary reports corroborating the view that the police assault could have been provoked by Christopher’s writings.

In addition, we offered to help him with legal bills by collecting money for his defense. We even paid some medical bills related to the incident. So far, we have given him $4,500 for his legal bills and $1,100 for doctor’s fees. In addition, we have approximately $4,000 more we will be giving him in the coming days.

We also approached the Foundation to Defend the First Amendment (FDFA) to assist Christopher’s legal defense. FDFA was willing to provide a direct payment of $5,500 to any attorney retained by Christopher.

However, Christopher seemed hesitant to provide us the name of any attorney, despite the fact that immediately after Christopher’s arrest we gave him at least three valuable contacts for legal assistance in the Chicago area.

We have already engaged Christopher in constructive dialogue, asking him to stand up for the integrity of the newspaper we have all worked so hard to establish. Sadly, our talks came to nothing, as we learned last week that Christopher published a story on the Internet that had a direct link to another site that questioned our credibility, honesty and integrity. This same site has also published false and malicious attacks on many other people and organizations in the alternative media and 9-11 truth movement. For us, that was the straw that broke the camel’s back.

We all considered Christopher more than just a colleague; he was our friend. So it was with heavy hearts that we had to make the decision to terminate him. All of the money that has been collected so far for Christopher will go to him. However, new donations that have recently come in are being returned as we cannot continue to help someone who could not stand up for us.

The discussion with Christopher is now over, but that does not mean we have closed the door forever on him. If Christopher wants to come back to AFP, all we have asked of him is to give us the same support that we have shown him by publicly stating he believes in AFP’s integrity and credibility.

In addition, we ask that Christopher denounce these absurd charges that we are “controlled by Zionists.” He knows they are preposterous, because there is no evidence to substantiate this claim.

We invite anyone with any concerns to visit our office in Washington to meet with us personally or to call us on the phone to find out for themselves just how baseless these charges really are.
