Who's John Hagee? Sarah Posner can tell you all about it. I'll just note this:
In Hagee's telling, Israel has no choice but to strike at Iran's nuclear facilities, with or without America's help. The strike will provoke Russia -- which wants Persian Gulf oil -- to lead an army of Arab nations against Israel. Then God will wipe out all but one-sixth of the Russian-led army, as the world watches "with shock and awe," he says, lending either a divine quality to the Bush administration phrase or a Bush-like quality to God's wrath.
But Hagee doesn't stop there. He adds that Ezekiel predicts fire "'upon those who live in security in the coastlands.'" From this sentence he concludes that there will be judgment upon all who stood by while the Russian-led force invaded Israel, and issues a stark warning to the United States to intervene: "Could it be that America, who refuses to defend Israel from the Russian invasion, will experience nuclear warfare on our east and west coasts?" He says yes, citing Genesis 12:3, in which God said to Israel: "I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you."
To fill the power vacuum left by God's decimation of the Russian army, the Antichrist -- identified by Hagee as the head of the European Union -- will rule "a one-world government, a one-world currency and a one-world religion" for three and a half years. (He adds that "one need only be a casual observer of current events to see that all three of these things are coming into reality.") The "demonic world leader" will then be confronted by a false prophet, identified by Hagee as China, at Armageddon, the Mount of Megiddo in Israel. As they prepare for the final battle, Jesus will return on a white horse and cast both villains -- and presumably any nonbelievers -- into a "lake of fire burning with brimstone," thus marking the beginning of his millennial reign.
So you see, John Hagee, who wants to see Israel adopt a hawkish foreign policy that he believes will result in its destruction at the hands of a Russo-Arab alliance is a friend of the Jews. By contrast, everyone who thinks a little pressure to make peace could wind up helping Israel in the long run is an anti-semite.

Ahhh, Hagee. A revolting, rotund bewailing psychotic who brazenly pontificates almost absolute certainty about and many strange interpretations of the major and minor Hebrew prophets, bent to his own liking. With a corny false vibrato commensurate with his equally operatic delivery of hellfire and brimstone forewarnings, Hagee delights in outrageously self-serving divisions of the body of Christ (The Church) splintering it into end-times obedient 'layers,' with up to seven distinct raptures depending on how 'faithful' one has been (faithful = obedient to the Hagee doctrinal twists and turns as well as his malformed interpretations of Christ's teachings). He makes the "Left Behind" authors seem like mere scalawags pulling a schoolyard prank.
Hagee, like most of these dispensationalist yahoos, knows full well that the blessing of God upon Israel in Genesis (12:3 "I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you.") was entirely a conditional blessing, and was never bestowed upon sinful Israel (just as 'choseness' was never attributable to sinful Israel), but applied only to those of true faith. When Israel disobeyed God, they walked under the curse, not a blessing. At present, having murdered the Lord of Life, they stand cursed before God above all the peoples of the earth. They and only they have a God-imposed veil of blindness set upon them (Romans 11:25). "National Israel," created by the UN, is not now, nor will it ever be, The Israel of God.
The Israel of God is marked by faith in Jesus Christ, His only begotten Son, to whom the full inheritance was given. Israel rejects Jesus as Messiah, therefore there can be no blessing, no peace, no inheritance. Only those who individually, by the heart and the spirit, turn to Him can overcome the curse. John states plainly, they who have not the Son have not the Father also. Israel is a Godless nation, playing the harlot with the kings of the earth and posing as a religious empire.
True Israel was never according to the flesh (race), as Paul explains perfectly in Romans 9:8 "They which are the children of the flesh, these are NOT the children of God: but the children of the promise (according with faith) are counted for the seed." This was what John the Baptist tried to teach his people as a voice crying in the wilderness, who were caught up in the lie of a racist doctrine invented by evil men, usurping the Word of God; and which Jesus made full disclosure of throughout his Ministry, as a judgment upon them, using only confusing parables so that they could not see or hear, "lest at any time they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them." (Matthew 13:13, 13:34), for the hour of their judgment was upon them (:Luke 19:44).
Those pastors and teachers of God's Word who today make these false claims of speciality of the "Jews" are committing a horrendous blasphemy; they are all but renouncing Christ and his accomplishment at the cross and his inheritance to his face! Evangelists and pastors like Hagee know this, like the Pharisees of Jesus' day KNEW He was the anointed One of God, but conspired against Him, and against God, and the people, seeking to lay claim to earthly and political power and worldly dominion.
Jesus says of these wicked men, "Verily I say unto you, That the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you." (Matthew 21:31). Their self-righteousness is a snare which will trap them, for "judgment begins with the House of God."

-- From inside the halls of Congress to the offices of Democratic politicians around the country there is increasing criticism of the stranglehold the America Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) and its political allies have on the Democratic Party's agenda and political message. WMR has spoken to a number of Democrats off-the-record and the story is much the same: Democratic leaders, from House Democratic Caucus Chairman Rahm Emmanuel to Senators Hillary Rodham Clinton and Dianne Feinstein -- pursuant to dictates from pro-Israeli political interests -- are curbing debate on the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq, impeachment, and generally, any strong or effective reaction by the Democrats to the Bush administration's and the neo-cons' disastrous war in Iraq. In various congressional districts, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) is bypassing progressive Democratic candidates and replacing them with "centrist" and less anti-war candidates for the 2008 election.
Criticism within the Democratic Party of AIPAC is carried out very quietly. The consequence for any Democratic politician who is identified as speaking ill of the powerful lobby group is a political death sentence. However, from Washington DC to California, the message is much the same -- AIPAC and its allies are wearing down the patience of a number of Democrats who see the organization as a Republican and neo-con Trojan Horse within the Democratic Party. Next week, AIPAC will be holding its annual convention at the Washington, DC Convention Center. The gathering is bound to create more angst among Democrats -- with both Democratic presidential frontrunners, Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, tripping over themselves in seeking AIPAC campaign support.
The schism within the Democratic Party appeared when House Speaker Nancy Pelosi refused to allow ranking member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence Jane Harman of California to become chairman. Pelosi was backed by powerful House Defense Appropriations Committee chairman John Murtha. That set off a battle for the House Majority Leader position between Murtha and Steny Hoyer of Maryland. Hoyer handily won the election while Pelosi supported Murtha. Hoyer's sister, Bernice Manocherian, has served as an executive president of AIPAC.
The controversy about Harman arose after she attempted to interfere in the Justice Department's investigation of AIPAC for espionage. Harman's links to AIPAC sank her chances of becoming HPSCI chair. Harman reportedly agreed to work with Republican chairman Peter Hoekstra to avoid an investigation of the cooked up pre-war intelligence on Iraq in return for the Bush administration going easy on the investigation of AIPAC officials Steve Rosen and Keith Weissman, both later indicted for receiving highly classified documents from Israeli Pentagon spy Larry Franklin. After the Libby trial, the next major bombshells are expected to come from the Rosen and Weissman trial, set for June 4. The AIPAC conference next week will undoubtedly be readying for public relations spin for June's "perfect storm" -- sentencing for Libby is scheduled for June 5, the day after the Rosen and Weismann trial commences.
The last straw for some Democrats is quiet but firm backing from AIPAC-allied politicians and special interests for a presidential pardon for convicted former Vice President Chief of Staff Irving Lewis "Scooter" Libby. Even as Libby was being found guilty, the Libby Legal Defense Fund announced a new member had joined its advisory committee. He is Charles Heimbold, Jr., former Chairman and CEO of Bristol-Myers Squibb Company and a former U.S. ambassador to Sweden. Advisory Committee Chairman Mel Sembler, the former U.S. ambassador to Italy whose fingerprints are found on the transmittal of the bogus Niger documents from Italian hands to the Bush administration -- one of the incidents that led to CIA Leakgate -- said the following about the conviction of Libby: "Scooter is a good man and a distinguished public servant who has been wrongly accused."
Other Libby Defense Fund advisory committee members who continue to support the convicted felon include Mary Matalin, former aide to Dick Cheney and wife of Democratic Party insider and Hillary Clinton supporter James Carville; former Education Secretary William Bennett; former HUD Secretary Jack Kemp; former Attorney General Edwin Meese III; former Senator Don Nickles; former Rep. Bill Paxon; former Clinton Middle East envoy Dennis Ross; former Senator Alan Simpson; Hollywood straphanger and former Senator Fred Thompson; and former CIA Director James Woolsey. The one question that can be asked of all these and other Libby Advisory Committee members is: "Why do they hate America so much?"
