New York Times, Washington Post suppress media recount
of Florida vote

A consortium of major American news organizations,
including the New York Times, the Washington Post, and
the Wall Street Journal, has decided to withhold the
results of its recount of ballots cast in Florida in
the 2000 presidential election.

The consortium had planned to publish its report this
week, and although its decision to suppress its own
findings has received virtually no media attention,
the reason is made clear in a September 23 column by
New York Times Washington bureau chief Richard L.
Berke.

In a move that might have stoked the partisan
tensions-but now seems utterly irrelevant-a consortium
of new organizations, including The New York Times,
had been scheduled this week to release the results of
its ambitious undertaking to recount the Florida
presidential ballots. (That has been put on hold
indefinitely).”

In other words, the Times and its counterparts in the
consortium have decided to conceal from the American
people facts damaging to the Bush administration’s
claims to political legitimacy.

Bugliosi, the former Los Angeles deputy District
Attorney who first came to public attention during his

to elect Richard Nixon president. Justice Kennedy was
one of the highest-paid lobbyists in California during
the time Ronald Reagan was governor, and worked
actively to promote Reagan's anti-tax initiative.

Rehnquist, who, Bugliosi points out, at Bush's
inauguration was swearing in someone he "made sure
would be president," -- an historic, if dubious,

The president of the Florida Holocaust Museum said
Saturday that George W. Bush's grandfather derived a
portion of his personal fortune through his
affiliation with a Nazi-controlled bank.

John Loftus, a former prosecutor in the Justice
Department's Nazi War Crimes Unit, said his research
found that Bush's grandfather, Prescott Bush, was a
principal in the Union Banking Corp. in Manhattan in
the late 1930s and the 1940s.

Leading Nazi industrialists secretly owned the bank at
that time, Loftus said, and were moving money into it
through a second bank in Holland even after the United
States declared war on Germany.

The bank was liquidated in 1951, Loftus said, and
Bush's grandfather and great-grandfather received $1.5
million from the bank as part of that dissolution.
"That's where the Bush family fortune came from: It
came from the Third Reich," Loftus said.

Who knows who else got these American-made weapons of
mass destruction either from Admiral Crowe or Saddam.
But that was then and this is now. Admiral Crowe is
retired. Admiral Crowe is quite wealthy, far beyond
what one might expect on even an Admiral's salary. In
fact, Admiral Crowe sits on the Board of Directors and
owns 13% of BioPort Corporation.

What is the BioPort Corporation, I hear you ask? Well,
it's the only corporation in the United States with a
license to make Anthrax Vaccine.

 Well, another part of BioPort is owned by the Carlyse
Group. That's George H. W. Bush's current occupation.
Yet another portion is rumored to be owned by the Bin
Laden family, although this has not yet been
confirmed!

That's right. Just as the Bin Laden family made a
fortune with the contract to rebuild the Khobar Towers
supposedly blown up by Osama, the Bin Ladens will
again make a fortune from their part ownership of the
only company able to make an Anthrax Vaccine in the
United States, because Osama might have some of that
Anthrax that the United States sold to Saddam.

In fact, the shortage created by the FDA bans will
make all the players instant billionaires as market
forces drive the price of the vaccine up to thousands
of dollars per ounce. (The same amount of Anthrax
treatment Cipro that sells for $20 in India now costs
$690 in the US).

A very cozy arrangement. The Bushes and Bin Ladens
(and the occasional complicit Admiral) are all making
money off of the fear and death of Americans and
Afghanis.

It's called "profiteering".

Administration Won't Allow Generic Versions of Drug
Bush administration officials said today that they
would increase the number of antibiotics approved to
treat anthrax, but they did not take the more
aggressive step of breaking Bayer AG's patent on Cipro
and authorizing other drug companies to produce
generic versions of the drug.

Tommy G. Thompson, the health and human services
secretary, said in a conference call with reporters
that violating the patent on Cipro, the drug most
recommended for treatment of anthrax, was illegal. But
Mr. Thompson got an immediate argument from patent
lawyers as well as from Senator Charles E. Schumer,
who is negotiating with the administration on a plan
to buy generic versions of Cipro for an emergency
stockpile.

"It boils down to something very simple," said Alfred
B. Engelberg, a veteran patent attorney. "The
government has the right to procure whatever it needs
for government purposes."

Although Bayer, a German pharmaceutical company, is
tripling production of Cipro, it will take the company
20 months, working 24 hours a day, to produce what Mr.
Thompson says the government needs - enough pills to
treat 12 million people for 60 days each. (The
government currently has enough Cipro for 2 million
people.)

Five drug companies that have received initial
approval to make generic Cipro, pending the expiration

An ‘urban myth’ turns out to be true - but what does

NEW YORK, Oct. 12 - I went to Brooklyn this week in
search of an “urban myth” about the World Trade Center
attacks. What I came back with was no longer a myth -
it was cold, chilling fact. But it didn’t clear
anything up for me; that the “myth” was true only made
matters murkier. Was word of the attacks on the
street: beforehand? I wanted to find out.

The story I was looking for had circulated less widely
and in more general form. It recounted the story of a
kid who bragged around school before the attacks that
the World Trade Center was going to be destroyed.

On October 11, an aggressive young reporter for The
JournalNews of Westchester, N.Y. - Jeffrey Scott
Shapiro - published a article that tracked the story
down to New Utrecht High School in Brooklyn. Shapiro
identified a teacher who witnessed a freshman in her
class saying: “Do you see those two buildings? They
won’t be standing there next week.”

On September 6 - five days before the attack -
Antoinette DiLorenzo, who teaches English as a second
language to a class of Pakistani immigrants, led a
class discussion about world events.

She asked a freshman (his name has been withheld):
“What are you looking at?” The youth was peering out
the third floor window toward lower Manhattan. After
he made the remark about the World Trade center not
being there next week, the teacher didn’t immediately
think much of it, though it stuck in her mind.

“It scared the hell out of everyone,” according to a
source at the school. Moreover, according to police,
the youth confirmed having made the September 6
statement about the towers. At the moment he did so,
his older brother elbowed him, said he had been
“kidding,” and the youth in question agreed.

United States, US Secretary of State Colin Powell has
said.

But intelligence agencies were unable to obtain more

intelligence failures.

Powell: Frustrated by intelligence failure Mr Powell
said there had been a lot of signs several months ago
that "something was going on".

expressed frustration about that failure, but defended
the work of the intelligence agencies.

According to writer James Bamford in "Body of
Secrets." The new history of the Fort Meade-based
eavesdropping agency is being released today by
Doubleday.

NSA regularly picks up the conversations of suspected
terrorist financier Osama bin Laden, says Bamford, and
has monitored Chinese and French companies trying to
sell missiles to Iran.

The book contains many other revelations in its
detailed account of NSA, the biggest U.S. intelligence
agency and Maryland's largest employer, with more than
25,000 personnel at Fort Meade, site of its global
eavesdropping efforts.

Among them:

In recent years, NSA has regularly listened to bin
Laden's unencrypted telephone calls. Agency officials
have sometimes played tapes of bin Laden talking to
his mother to impress members of Congress and select
visitors to the agency.

In the late 1990s, NSA tracked efforts by Chinese and
French companies to sell missile technology to Iran,
particularly the C-802 anti-ship missile.

International Probe on Suspected Bin Laden Financial

Financial market officials around the world are
investigating the possibility that groups tied to
Usama bin Laden may have cashed in on the terrorist
strikes by dumping millions in stocks and options for
industries they knew would be most severely affected
in the attacks.

The Chicago Board Options Exchange said Tuesday it was
investigating reports of unusual trading activity
before last week's terrorist attacks in New York and
Washington. The exchange declined to elaborate.

The CBT's statement comes amid widespread
international efforts to track down bin Laden's
financial activities before and after Tuesday's
terrorist attacks on the United States.

In Japan, the president of the Tokyo Stock Exchange
said in a statement Tuesday the exchange's probe is
focusing on whether groups linked to bin Laden traded
on Tokyo's main market around the time of the attacks.

FBI tracked man in custody 2 weeks before attacks

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Two weeks before the terorist
attacks in New York City and Washington, D.C., FBI
agents were at a flight school in Oklahoma asking
questions about a man now suspected of having a link
to those attacks, sources said.

The fact that FBI agents were at the Airman Flight
School in Norman, Oklahoma, two weeks before any
attacks would seem to contradict the agency's
assertion that it was not aware of any connection
between aviation schools and suspected terrorists.

The possibility that pilots were being trained for
terrorist plots was revealed earlier this year during
testimony at the trial of four men charged with the
1998 bombings of American embassies in Africa. U.S.
prosecutors believe Osama bin Laden -- described as
the "prime suspect" in the hijackings -- was behind
that plot as well. He, in fact, was indicted for the
1998 bombings.

U.S. investigators also believe that two of the dead
World Trade Center hijackers had toured the Oklahoma
facility, seeking flight training. Those two hijackers
later enrolled in a Florida aviation school.

Meanwhile, the FBI was warned six years ago of a
terrorist plot to hijack commercial planes and slam
them into the Pentagon, the CIA headquarters and other
buildings, Philippine investigators said.

Philippine authorities learned of the plot after a
small fire in a Manila apartment, which turned out to
be the hideout of Ramzi Yousef, who was later
convicted for his role in the 1993 bombing of the
World Trade Center.

Yousef escaped at the time, but agents caught his
right-hand man, Abdul Hakim Murad, who told them about
plots to hijack U.S. jets.

Seattle man reportedly warned of terror attack

A Seattle man of Middle Eastern descent who reportedly
predicted terrorists would attack the United States
has been subpoenaed by a federal grand jury in New
York, according to sources familiar with the
investigation.

The man, employed as a security guard, suggested to an
East Coast friend in a telephone conversation days
before the Sept. 11 passenger-jet hijackings that an
attack on U.S. soil was coming, the sources said.
After the attacks on the World Trade Center and
Pentagon, the friend went to federal authorities with
his concerns.

When the tipster passed a lie-detector test, FBI
agents in Seattle were assigned to track down the
security guard.

The man refused to cooperate with the agents, who
asked him to also submit to a lie-detector test.

a bomb that was eventually used to blow up the World
Trade Center,
and they planned to thwart the plotters by secretly
substituting
harmless powder for the explosives, an informer said
after
the blast.

The informer was to have helped the plotters build the

and supply the fake powder, but the plan was called
off by
an F.B.I. supervisor who had other ideas about how the
informer,
Emad Salem, should be used, the informer said.

World: Israel knew bin Laden attack was coming, source
says

TEL AVIV, Israel (September 21, 2001 7:39 p.m. EDT) -
Israeli intelligence services knew months ago that
Osama bin Laden was planning a large-scale terror
attack, a senior intelligence official said Friday.

But no one knew what his targets would be. The Israeli
official, who briefed journalists on condition of
anonymity, said "everybody knew about a heightened
alert, and knew that bin Laden was preparing a big
attack."

The Los Angeles Times first reported that Israel's
Mossad warned Washington in August that as many as 200
terrorists linked to bin Laden were slipping into the
country to prepare a major assault in the United
States.

in January 1995, when Philippine Police authorities
captured Ramsey Youssef in Manila, I was asked,
because of my affiliation with the NBI, to help decode
and decipher the hard drives of the computers found in
Youssef's possession. This is where we found most of
the evidence of the projects that were being funded by
Osama Bin Laden in the Philippines.

The first plan was to assassinate Pope John Paul II
who was then scheduled to visit the Philippines. The
second was Project Bojinka, which called for the
hijacking of US bound commercial airliners from the
Philippines, Korea, Thailand, Taiwan, Honking(sic -ed)
and Singapore, and then crash them into key structures
in the United States.

The World Trade Center, the White House, the Pentagon,
the Transamerica Tower, and the Sears Tower were among
prominent structures that had been identified in the
plans that we had decoded.

I would have thought that intelligence operatives
would have analyzed all the evidence and worked out
various scenarios that could have included the
modified Bojinka plan. If they had done so, the US
would have been prepared for this attack.

Former U.S. Secretary of State George Shultz said
yesterday that he was "startled" by a little-noticed
State Department memo that was issued a week ago and
warned that Americans "may be the target of a
terrorist threat."

The memo, issued just four days before the attacks on
New York and Washington, identified the threat as
coming from "extremist groups with links to Osama bin
Laden's al Qaeda organization."

"I have not idea what intelligence lies behind the
warning," Shultz said, ''but they put this out because
they had some sort of intelligence."
Shultz, who served as secretary of state under
President Reagan, said he received a copy of the Sept.
7 "worldwide warning" in his San Francisco office on
the day before the fatal attacks. The memo addressed
concerns for Americans overseas and made no mention of
any possible attack on U.S. soil.

Officials Told of 'Major Assault' Plans

Internet Domain Names May Have Warned of Attacks

(CNSNews.com) - The terrorists who planned and
executed the September 11 attack on America may have
registered as many as 20 Internet domain names, or web
addresses, that experts believe should have warned
authorities of a possible assault on the World Trade
Center in New York City.

Internet domain names like 'attackontwintowers.com'
and 'worldtradetowerattack.com' were registered more
than a year ago. It's not known at this time who
registered the suspicious names or what their purpose
was.

"It's unbelievable that they (the registration
company) would register these domain names, probably
without any comment to the FBI," according to Neil
Livingstone, head of Global Options LLC, a Washington,
D.C.-based counter-terrorism and investigation
company.

eminent. San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown was booked
to fly from the Bay Area to New York City on the
morning of September 11.

person Brown described as his "airport security man"
telling him that he should be extra cautious about air

has also learned that an internal memo was sent around
Goldman Sachs in Tokyo on September 10 advising all

Boeing and defense contractor Lockheed Martin.

In the days before the terrorist assaults, unusually
high numbers of put options were purchased for the
stocks of AMR Corp. and UAL Corp., the parents of
American and United - each of which had two planes
hijacked.

THE HANDLING OF the case of Zacarias Moussaoui-who is
now being held in detention in New York-has raised new
questions about how U.S. law enforcement officials
handled critical intelligence that, in retrospect,
might have alerted them in advance to the deadliest
terrorist plot in U.S. history.

Sources familiar with the case tell NEWSWEEK that FBI
agents in Minneapolis seized Moussaoui’s computer in
mid-August after officials at an Eagan, Minn., flight
school tipped them off that the 33-year-old French
citizen was acting suspiciously. Moussaoui had sought
training only in making turns-not take-offs and
landings-and specifically asked about flying over New
York air space, officials said.

But, while Moussaoui himself was placed in detention
on minor immigration charges on August 17, agents in
Minneapolis were never given approval by Justice
Department officials in Washington to open up the hard
drive on the suspect’s computer. The Minneapolis
agents sought approval to do so-and to take other
investigative steps aimed at Moussaoui-in early
September under the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance
Act (FISA), officials said.

This came after a FBI “trace”-a request for
information from friendly foreign governments-yielded
a report from French intelligence that Moussaoui had
been associated with members of an Algerian terrorist
group and may have traveled to Afghanistan.

The law requires the bureau to show evidence that the
suspect is an “agent” of a foreign power or terrorist
group, something the Minneapolis field agents never
had, the officials said.

But other law enforcement officials are equally
insistent that a more aggressive probe of
Moussaoui-when combined with other intelligence in the
possession of U.S. agencies-might have yielded
sufficient clues about the impending plot.

“The question being asked here is if they put two and
two together, they could have gotten a lot more
information about the guy-if not stopped the
hijacking,” said one investigator.

White House Again Delays Reagan Files' Release

administration has delayed release of 68,000 pages of
Ronald Reagan's White House records, including
vice-presidential papers of President Bush's father.
Under the Presidential Records Act, which calls for
the release of such papers 12 years after a president
leaves office, Mr. Reagan's were to have been released
in January.

But the White House delayed the release initially till
June 21, then till the last day in August.
Today the White House counsel, Alberto R. Gonzales,
undertook a third extension, this time with no
deadline, so that the administration could continue
reviewing the records and consult representatives of
former Presidents Reagan, George Bush and Bill
Clinton.


Lingering Question: Is Dick Cheney Guilty Of War

Government will have no difficulty manufacturing
evidence to prosecute
citizens once Constitutional safeguards against
passing Retroactive Laws
are abolished after passage of S.1510.

housing for the

America's new wall of homeland security is creating a
big demand for cells to hold suspects and illegal
aliens who might be rounded up. Stocks of private
companies that build and operate prisons for
governments have zoomed as high as 300 percent in
anticipation of internment camps and new prisons.

"Unfortunately, these are becoming good investments,"
said James MacDonald, a prisons-security analyst at
First Analysts Securities. One company, Wackenhut
Corp., may be able to put its expertise to work here.
"Wackenhut has had some success running the immigrant
camps in Australia by converting military bases," said
MacDonald.

"It could be done here, too, but turning our old
military bases into internment camps would be a highly
charged issue for us," said MacDonald. "It would be
too drastic." He said the half-dozen publicly traded
prison companies are in a buzz about expanding prison
projects being issued by the Federal Bureau of
Prisons. The Bureau has just let out requests for bids
for two prisons to hold criminal aliens in
Georgia.

Civilian Internment Camps a Reality


                         The Planned U.S. and Canadian
Concentration Camp Program

Here are some photo's and information with regards to
the concentration camp program established in the US
under the Rex 84 program. Rex 84 was established on
the reasoning that if a mass exodus of illegal aliens
crossed the Mexican/US border, they would be quickly
rounded up and detained in detention centres by
F.E.M.A.

Rex 84 allowed many military bases to be closed down
and to be turned into prisons. These prisons are
located all across the USA. Therefore it is
unreasonable to assume that the mass exodus of illegal
aliens was the true intention.

Operation Cable Splicer and Garden Plot are the two
sub programs which will be implemented once the Rex 84
program is initiated for its proper purpose. Garden
Plot is the program to control the population. Cable
Splicer is the program for an orderly takeover of the
state and local governments by the federal government.

 F.E.M.A. is the executive arm of the coming police
state and thus will head up all operations. The
Presidential Executive Orders already listed on the
Federal Register also are part of the legal framework
for this operation.

CIVILIAN INTERNMENT CAMPS UP FOR REVIEW

             In a revealing admission the Director of
Resource Management for the U.S. Army
         confirmed the validity of a memorandum
relating to the establishment of a civilian inmate
         labor program under development by the
Department of the Army. The document states,
         "Enclosed for your review and comment is the
draft Army regulation on civilian inmate
         labor utilization" and the procedure to
"establish civilian prison camps on installations."

             Civilian internment camps or prison
camps, more commonly known as concentration
         camps, have been the subject of much rumor
and speculation during the past few years
         in America. Several publications have devoted
space to the topic and many talk radio
         programs have dealt with the issue.

             However, Congressman Henry Gonzales (D,
Texas) clarified the question of the
         existence of civilian detention camps. In an
interview the congressman stated, "the truth
         is yes - you do have these stand by
provisions, and the plans are here...whereby you
         could, in the name of stopping
terrorism...evoke the military and arrest Americans
and
         put them in detention camps."

Presidential Executive Orders
A Presidential Declaration of National Emergency
cannot be appealed. Federal Register did authorise
Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to operate
existing bureaucratic departments together with the
(regional) governments to manage the United States.
This status changed 3 June 1994, when President
Clinton issues Executive Order No.12919 transferring
all Executive Orders authority to "the President's
Security Advisor.."!

Executive Orders become law if not voided by Congress
within 60 days after issuance. Congress has never made
any effort to rescind an Executive Order. Listed are

#10995 - Seizure of all communications media in the
United States.
#10997 - Seizure of all electric power, fuels, and
minerals, both public and private.
#10998 - Seizure of all food supplies and resources,

#10999 - Seizure of all means of transportation,
including personal cars, trucks or vehicles of any
kind and total control over all highways, seaports and
waterways.
#11000 - Seizure of all American population for work
forces under federal supervision, including dividing
families as necessary according to governmental plans.

#11001 - Seizure of all health, education and welfare
facilities, both public and private.
#11002 - Empowers the Postmaster General to register
all men, women and children in the U.S.
#11003 - Seizure of all airports and aircraft.
#11004 - Seizure of all housing and finance
authorities, to establish Forced Relocation.
Designates areas to be abandoned as "unsafe,"
establishes new locations for populations, relocates
communications, builds new housing with public
('tax-payers') funds.
#11005 - Seizure of all railroads, inland waterways
and storage facilities, public and private.
#11051 - Provides the Office of Emergency Planning
complete authorisation to put the above orders into
effect in times of increased international tension or
economic or financial crisis.
#11490 - Combines Executive Orders #11001 to #11005
and #11051 into a single Executive Order.
#11921 - F.E.M.A. is authorised to develop plans
control energy, prices and wages, credit and the money
supply to U.S. banks in the event of a 'National
Emergency.' Congress may not review a President's
decision to enforce a 'National Emergency' for six
months.
#12656 - The National Security Council given authority
to determine requisite emergency powers (increased
domestic surveillance, isolation of communites,
restriction of movement for groups and individuals in
the USA, control of airspace, use of the national
guard to enforce laws and seal borders).
#12919 - Signed June 3, 1994, by President Clinton.

"National Defense Industrial Resources Preparedness"
delegates authorities, responsibilities and
allocations of F.E.M.A.'s Executive Orders for the
confiscation of ALL PROPERTY from the American people,
and their re-location and assignment to 'labor' camps.
This Executive Order also supersedes or revokes eleven
(11) previous Executive Orders [from 1939 through
1991] and amends Executive Order #10789 and #11790.

 The declaration of a 'National Emergency' by the

The United States Civil Disturbance Plan 55-2
"Operation Garden Plot."
In this document signed by the Secretary of the Army,
is hereby assigned as DOD Executive Agent for civil
disturbance control operations. Under Plan 55-2 he is
to use airlift and logistical support, in assisting
appropriate military commanders in the 50 states,
District of Columbia, and the Commonwealth of Puerto
Rico and US possessions and territories, or any
political subdivision thereof.
The official name of this project is called "Operation
Garden Plot."

If any civil disturbance by a resistance group,
religious organization, or other persons considered to
be non-conformist takes place, under Appendix 3 to
Annex B of Plan 55-2 hereby gives all Federal forces
total power over the situation if local and state
authorities cannot put down said dissenters.

Annex A, section B of Operation Garden Plot defines
tax protesters, militia groups, religious cults, and
general anti-government dissenters as Disruptive
Elements. This calls for the deadly force to be used
against any extremist or dissident perpetrating any
and all forms of civil disorder.

Under section D, a Presidential Executive Order will

U.S. military is training troops and police to
suppress democratic opposition in America. The master
plan, Department of Defense Civil Disturbance Plan
55-2, is code-named, "Operation Garden Plot".
Originated in 1968, the "operational plan" has been
updated over the last three decades, most recently in
1991, and was activated during the Los Angeles "riots"
of 1992, and more than likely during the recent

Institute of Mining and Technology says the collapse
of the twin towers resembled those of controlled

US MILITARY DID NOT KNOW…
Yesterday, a report came from Afghanistan about a
missile strike delivered on storehouses of the Red
Cross in Kabul. Today, US military officials admitted
this fact and gave their apologies.
The US military did not know these buildings had been
used as a food depositary, according to a special
statement by the Pentagon.

At the same time, the Red Cross knows that the
storehouses had symbols of the Red Cross, including a
big symbol on the roof of the international
organization. It would be completely impossible not to
see a big red cross on the flat roof. Thank God that
there was not a hospital under this roof.

The strike was delivered by US F-18 aircraft. The
total weight of the explosives dropped from the
aircraft was 500 kg. The building was practically
annihilated and the fire is still going on while
annihilating food reserve, tents, blankets: all that
is so necessary now for Afghanistan and that is even
being dropped by US pilots together with bombs. The
Taliban burns American gifts, so the Pentagon seems to
have decided to burn Taliban food reserves.

The Pentagon continues to stress that it aims its
strikes at military objects. Nevertheless, Katar TV
channel Al-Jazeera showed the ruined houses in Kabul,
the Red Cross’s storehouse being on fire…
The military has a good excuse: we did not know. Once,
they did not know they were delivering strikes on the
Chinese embassy in Belgrade. It seems to be a good
excuse, especially if the opposite thing cannot be
proved.

First US ground mission a failure: Report
MOSCOW: The first US ground mission inside the
Taliban-held Afghanistan on Saturday was a failure, a
Russian news agency reported here on Sunday quoting
military sources.

Interfax quoting defence ministry sources in
Tajikistan said the US special force's ground attack
did not yield any results, nor did it influence the
general military-political situation in Afghanistan.

Bombs kill Mullah Omar's son

THE 10-year-old son of the Taliban leader, Mullah
Mohammed Omar, has died of injuries received in a
bombing raid, according to a doctor who treated him.
Dr Abdul Bari said the boy, who he did not name, had
stomach wounds and a broken thigh when he was admitted
to hospital in Kandahar, the southern Afghan
stronghold of the Taliban, on the first night of the
American-led bombing campaign.

Dr Bari tried to save the boy but the injuries were
too severe and he died the same night, he told the
BBC.

Taliban Say U.S. Hits Hospital, Heavy Death Toll

people in a hospital in western Herat and of using

American and British planes," said Zaeef. "More than
100 people are reported to have been martyred; they
were patients, doctors, nurses and other staff who
were present there."

Zaeef, listing various targets, said there were
widespread U.S. attacks on civilians: "This is an open
terrorist act by the Bush administration."

President Bush last month signed an intelligence order
directing the CIA to undertake its most sweeping and
lethal covert action since the founding of the agency
in 1947, explicitly calling for the destruction of
Osama bin Laden and his worldwide al Qaeda network,
according to senior government officials.

Reagan and [William J. Casey, President Ronald
Reagan's CIA director from 1981 to early 1987] had
trouble when they sought to punish covertly the
terrorists responsible for the 1983 truck bombing of
the U.S. Marine compound in Lebanon, which killed 241
American servicemen in the deadliest terrorist attack
on Americans before Sept. 11.

Casey worked personally and secretly with Saudi Arabia
to plan the assassination of Muslim leader Sheikh
Fadlallah, the head of the Party of God or Hezbollah,
who was connected to the Marine bombing.

The method of retaliation was a massive car bomb that
was exploded 50 yards from Fadlallah's residence in
Beirut, killing 80 people and wounding 200 in 1985.
But Fadlallah escaped without injury.

US jets hit Afghan oppn posts by mistake

AGRAM, Afghanistan: US fighter jets on Monday
mistakenly fired on Afghan opposition posts during
their third raid on Taliban frontlines north of Kabul,
witnesses said.

Four photographers were in an opposition post when two
F-16s screamed overhead.
The opposition soldiers accompanying the photographers
fled their positions after the strikes. "They asked us
if we had a telephone to call the Americans and tell
them they were making a mistake," said Ron Haviv, a US
national working for the Paris-based Agency VII.

The other photographers who witnessed the strike close
up were Peter Blakely, a US national working for the
Saba agency, Tyler Hicks, a US national with the New
York Times and Moises Saman, a Spanish national
working for Newsday.
