Connecting
the dots:
Israel follows the path of Nazi
Germany
by Lech Biegalski
Canada Watch
December 25, 2006
What amounts to spontaneous observations,
made on the basis of isolated incidents, begins to emerge as a general pattern.
Intentionally or not, Israel follows the Nazi path and falls into the same trap
that compromised German political agenda at the end of World War II.
In a breath taking
article,
What are you going to do now, Israel?,
Virginia Tilley[1]
predicts a disastrous outcome of Israel's destruction of the Palestinian
government, an outcome which will leave Israel with only one option - a
systematic genocide of the entire Palestinian population. Tilley stops short
from reaching this conclusion but the logic of it is overwhelming enough to
assume that Israeli politicians must be fully aware of it and must be
consciously working towards this end.
"Maybe you are sitting back in your
national chair, rubbing your hands together in triumph, watching the
Palestinians finally turn on each other, slowly becoming what you always
claimed they were. Maybe you are repelled, secure in your sense of
superiority.
"But have you thought about what you
are going to do, if Palestinian leadership you despise finally
disintegrates?
"You have brought them to this pass,
of course. You worked for decades to achieve exactly this. You bribed,
terrorized, expelled, maimed or killed their leadership, banned or killed
their visionaries and philosophers, fanned and funded Hamas against Fatah or
Fatah against Hamas, trashed their democracy, stole their money, walled them
in, put them on a “diet”, derided their claims, and lied about their history
to the world and to yourself.
"But what are you going to do,
Israel, if five million Palestinians are finally living leaderless under
your sovereignty? What will you do, when they lose their capacity to
negotiate with you? Have you thought that, within the territory you control,
they are as many as you? And that now you are destroying their unified
voice? Have you thought about what will happen to you if they truly lose
that voice?"
A striking
similarity between Israel's strategy in Palestine and Nazi long-term policy of
extermination and annexation in Poland during the Second World War is clearly
demonstrated by the
Nuremberg Tribunal Charges
and the
Nuremberg Tribunal Judgement
against Hans Frank[2],
the Nazi Governor-General of the non-annexed occupied Poland in 1939 - 1945. It
is absolutely shocking to read the documents and to see how many objectives and
tactics in these two occupation theatres can be compared as parallel.
The memory of Hans
Frank, "the butcher of Cracow" and the overseer of extermination camps in
occupied Poland, must still be deeply embedded in Jewish collective
consciousness.

of Poland,

At different occasions, Frank has made
it clear that European Jews must be eliminated:
"We, National Socialists, have
started with anti-Semitism in our fight to free the German people, to
re-establish a German Reich and to build our entire German spiritual,
cultural and social life on the indestructible foundation of our race. We
started a gigantic battle in 1919. It took all the self-confidence of German
manhood to withstand and to triumph in this fight to substitute the German
spirit for Jewish corruption over the concerted attacks of powerful world
groups of which Jewry is a representative." (...)
"Severe measures must and will be
adopted against Jews leaving the Ghettos. Death sentences pending against
Jews for this reason must be carried out as quickly as possible. This order
according to which every Jew found outside the Ghetto is to be executed,
must be carried out without fail." (...)
"As far as the Jews are concerned, I
want to tell you quite frankly, that they must be done away with in one way
or another. The Fuehrer said once: should united Jewry again succeed in
provoking a world war, the blood of not only the nations which have been
forced into the war by them will be shed, but the Jew will have found his
end in Europe." (...)
"Gentlemen, I must ask you to rid
yourselves of all feeling of pity. We must annihilate the Jews, wherever we
find them and wherever it is possible, in order to maintain here the
structure of the Reich as a whole. (...) We must find, at any rate, a way
which leads to the goal, and my thoughts are working in that direction."

Defendant
Hans Frank (Nazi Governor of occupied Poland) in a witness box,
Nuremberg Trial, 1945 - 1946 |
In Frank's view, the goal of permanent
annexation of Polish occupied territories could only be achieved by ruthless
destruction of native political, economical, and human potential:
"It is not the task of the
Administration to make Poland into a model province or a model state of the
German order or to put her economically or financially on a sound basis. The
Polish intelligentsia must be prevented from forming a ruling class. The
standard of living in the country is to remain low; we only want to draw
labour forces from there. Poles are also to be used for the administration
of the country. However the forming of national political groups may not be
allowed." (...)
"The Governor General is to give the
Polish nation only bare living conditions and is to maintain the basis for
military security." (...)
"Any tendencies towards the
consolidation of conditions in Poland are to be suppressed. The 'Polish
muddle' [polnische Wirtschaft] must be allowed to develop. The
government of the territory must make it possible for us to purify the
Reich territory from Jews and Polacks, too. Collaboration with new Reich
provinces (Posen and West Prussia) only for resettlements." (...)
"In this country the force of a
determined leadership must rule. The Pole must feel here that we are not
building him a legal state, but that for him there is only one duty, namely,
to work and to behave himself." (...)
"The situation in regard to Poland
is unique insofar as on the one hand - I speak quite openly - we must expand
Germanism in such a manner that the area of the General Government becomes
pure German colonized land at some decades to come; and, on the other hand
under the present war conditions we have to allow foreign racial groups to
perform here the work which must be carried out in the service of Greater
Germany." (...)

Hans Frank,
post-execution photo |
"It is understandable that in
resettling this area . . .we did not make friends of the Poles. In
colonizing this territory with racial Germans, we are forced to chase out
the Poles. We are removing those who constitute a burden in this new
colonization territory. Actually, they are the asocial and inferior
elements." (...)
"Whenever there is the least attempt
by the Poles to start anything, an enormous campaign of destruction will
follow." (...)
Poles and Ukrainians were to be
permitted to work for the German economy, as long as the war emergency
continued. Once the war was won, Frank advocated:
"...then, for all I care, mincemeat
[Hackfleisch] can be made of the Poles and the Ukrainians and all the
others who run around here - it does not matter what happens."
The fact that
similar circumstances often cause similar effects is rather obvious. Once put in
motion, the spiral of events takes on a life of its own. Just like Nazi Germany
in Poland, Israel is heading toward failure in Palestine. As the victims of
holocaust 'deal' with their trauma by
becoming perpetrators , history repeats itself with
amazing accuracy. An unprecedented wave of public awareness and political will
to stop Israeli atrocities is spreading around the world.
It does not really
matter what Israel's intentions are, it does not matter what "excuses" Israel is
using to justify its crimes against peace, war crimes, and crimes against
humanity. In politics intentions don't count, results do. Like Nazi Germany,
Israel bears full responsibility for crimes committed in the occupied
territories.
I strongly encourage
everybody to read the Virginia Tilley's article and the Nuremberg Trial
documents listed here. The impact that comparing these texts has on the
understanding of the Israeli occupation of Palestine is tremendous.

Hans Frank was a former Bavarian Minister of Justice, Governor General of Poland
(1939-1945), and General of SS. He was tried before the International Military
Tribunal in Nuremberg (1945-46).
The indictment which served as the basis
for the Main Trial and for charging the defendants contained four counts:
-
Count One - The Common Plan or Conspiracy to
wage an aggressive war in violation of international law or treaties;
-
Count Two - Planning, preparation, or waging
an aggressive war;
-
Count Three - War Crimes -- violations of the
international rules of war (mistreatment of prisoners of war or civilian
populations, the plunder of private property and the destruction of towns
and cities without military justification);
-
Count Four - Crimes Against Humanity - murder, extermination, enslavement of
civilian populations; persecution on the basis of racial, religions or
political grounds.
In the actual conduct of the trial,
Counts one and two constituted "Crimes Against the Peace;" Count Three
constituted "War Crimes," and Count Four constituted "Crimes Against Humanity."
Frank was charged under Counts 1, 3, and
4. The Tribunal found that Frank was not guilty on Count One but guilty under
Counts Three and Four.
Frank was sentenced to death on October
1, 1946 and hanged on October 16, 1946.
