Each day I read about the brutality in the Middle East, the plight of the Palestinians, and the culpable Jewish leaders in America. And each day, as I think back on my personal history, my coming of age in an average American Jewish family, I wonder, "where do I fit in?" I am prompted to write this essay because stories like mine rarely get told. It is the story of an ordinary Jewish family, my family. My childhood drama played on the stage of a secular Jewish family. Dad, who had been raised as an Orthodox Jew, married Mom, an atheist. She professed to be a Zionist, and yet, I cannot help but wonder, if she were alive today, how she would feel about the behavior of the State of Israel. I was blessed with a sister who is five years my senior. Always wanting to be like her, I followed obediently down the rebellious road that she paved. She refused religious instruction so "little sister" emulated her. My father went to shul (synagogue) alone. Certain holidays did make their way into the Zaldin household. We had our annual Passover Celebration, we lit candles on Chanukah, on Rosh Hashanah my father made his pilgrimage to the shul and on Yom Kippur, my mother yelled at my sister and me as we headed out the door to spend time doing "our own thing" "What will the neighbors think?" My mother's main concern echoed behind us. I did not know much about the meaning behind the holidays except, supposedly, that they had something to do with the Jews fleeing persecution. In an attempt to enlighten me, Dad provided a copy of "Hillel's Happy Holidays". If I indeed read it, I do not remember it. And from what I have learned, since those innocent days of yesteryear, they were not necessarily "happy". Dad pursued a career in medicine. "You are wasting your time and money" His father had no empathy for his son's choice and wanted him to take his rightful place in the family furniture business. But Dad was resolute, and so, in the face of extreme opposition, he did various and sundry jobs to put himself through medical school. You see, my Dad had watched his mother die an excruciating death from esophageal cancer when he was a boy of 16. His motivation was to help put an end to suffering. My father was a dreamer. But he was a lot more. An old fashioned man, Dad was the stereotypical family doctor with the little black bag who made "house calls". Yes, dear readers, there were such things, back in the day. Many a night, the phone would awaken him. Bag in hand, he set out to answer the cry of the sick. Those were the days before Medicare and Medicaid and so, if his patients could not pay, they did not pay. "Before I die, there will probably be a cure for cancer" He said innocently. He has been dead for 24 years. I am certain that my father, with his Orthodox background, had read the Talmud and yet, when my sister and I married outside the faith, both husbands were welcomed into the family. We never heard the "g" word. We were never exposed to any racist doctrine. If I had not reincarnated as an Internet essayist, I would never have known about the racist Babylonian Talmud. The secular Jewish people I knew assimilated into the host culture and many of them intermarried. Their children also intermarried. Last night I listened to Joachim Martillo being interviewed on Lewis News. He is a convert to Islam but has a rich background in Jewish studies. In Israel, he got to experience the evils of Zionism first hand. In my family, lying to anyone, whether Jew or Gentile, was considered a sin. And so, it was with great interest that I heard Mr. Martillo discuss the Kol Nidre, the most sacred and controversial prayer in the Jewish religion. "There are many non-Jewish Web sites that are alarmed by the existence of this prayer and what they feel is a license to lie and deceive year after year." The teachers of the synagogues, however, have never failed to point out to their cobelievers that the dispensation from vows in the "Kol Nidre" refers only to those which an individual voluntarily assumes for himself alone (see RoSH to Ned. 23b) and in which no other persons or their interests are involved. He did not think it was ethical And furthermore, he felt privileged to be able to pay taxes in America. You see, Dad's family had been in Russia during the Pogroms. His older brother was nearly killed. And so, when they came to America, they literally kissed the ground. And now it is 2007 and the world is precariously teetering in the balance. Israel is not the dream that my mother had envisioned. The America of today is not the dream of my father. They have morphed into a nightmare where greedy unconscionable elitists make the rules and the ordinary person, Jew or Gentile is merely fodder for the self serving goals of the ruling cabal. I have long since left the Jewish religion, if indeed, I was ever there. I was baptized in 1991 and opened myself to an entirely new reality. And yet, the values of my family of origin will always be a part of me. The Internet screams about Jewish crimes and Jewish criminals. My mission as an Internet essayist has been twofold. One has been to open Jewish eyes to the reality of their leaders; leaders who have duped them in the past and are duping them again. I yearn for Jewish people to question what is truly taking place in the Middle East. I yearn for Jewish people to question their history and their reported "victimhood". I yearn for Jewish people to become "individuals" and not fall prey to a "consensus trance" imposed upon them by "fear programming". I yearn for Jewish people not to accept the official narrative of events past and not to jail differing opinions. I yearn for Jewish people to rise up against their leaders. And, most passionately, I yearn for ALL Jewish people to recognize that nobody is any better or any worse than anyone else. In addition, I yearn for non Jewish people to realize that not ALL Jewish people are corrupt and/or evil. Certainly there are families that lie and cheat, but it is important to acknowledge that my story is not unique; many people have grown up in families such as mine. Do not let those who have been corrupted obscure the reality that there are many people of Jewish origin who have love and respect for all of humanity. I hope my story has been of value. The calls ranged from threats to propositions; in other words from sickening to downright repulsive. Four letter words were pelted at me. A gust of "hot air" has also blown in from the other direction. An essayist once called me "the head of the Israel Protection racket"and, in addition, falsified my maiden name. What is the old expression? "Say what you want but please spell my name right"! "You are too pretty to be Jewish", a member of a Christian Identity group paid me a compliment. (?) "What is your blood type? I think that you probably are not really Jewish" I know she meant well, but I cannot say that I was particularly flattered. Each day, my mailbox fills up with the most bizarre stories of Jewish cults and customs as well as the heinous activities of the Zionists. And no matter which way I turn, there is discomfort awaiting my psyche. Though I have consecrated my life to fairness and honesty, I realize that there is always an invective waiting to be hurled in my direction. Recently, I heard an interview in which a man said that he could not define what a Jew is. Positioned in front of the computer, with my head nodding in agreement, I began to think of all the variations on the theme of Judaism. Since reading about it, I've been very disturbed by it, and tried to find an explanation such as yours. There are things I miss, but over-all, it was a good decision. So, why am I writing you? I want you to know that you have fans here in New Zealand. When and where I grew up, it was unsafe to be anything but a white man; and owing to the Dutch and French side of my ancestry, and the fact that my parents never told me otherwise, I got by as a little white science nerd. Sort of got by. Except seeing the one black boy in my school getting beat up almost daily made my blood boil, so I took a few beatings too, and was labeled "nigger lover". I was enthralled by my dad's uncanny knowledge of the woods, and chastened by his consistent respect for life. "Just take the dead wood, son; don't cut that tree.", and "Don't kill that animal unless you plan to eat it." But I never knew why until about a year before he "crossed over" - "By the way, you're part Indian on both my dad and mom's side." Like a door opened, I began to meet Indian people in the local community and, unlike most of the white people I ever met, we actually got along. Before long, I was introduced to several respected elders and medicine men. These were'nt the publicity seeking, self aggrandizing, money hungry types, but the genuine articles. I kept my mouth shut, and worked, and learned. One of the things I learned is that, all stereotypes and fascinations aside, people are pretty much the same around the world. In the grand movie of life, most are "extras", just a few are bad guys, and just a few are good guys. I learned that a lot of The People are programmed to be sensitive about their own holocaust and traditions, but are too caught up in modern society to practice, or even remember those traditions. (It appears that this is one of the purposes of modern society.) I learned that I'm too white to be Indian, and too Indian to be white. What that means is, since the US government invented the "blood quantum" method of determining who's what, a lot of people have subscribed to it, since it is rather simple-minded. According to the elders, however, a person was traditionally considered Indian if he lived as an Indian - no matter if his skin was green or his nose grew on the back of his head. I also learned that none of this matters, because there is something about life which is much larger and deeper than being French or Jew or Indian, or even human, for a that matter. It's a force which both gives and takes life, every moment of the day, like your breath going in and out. It tells us "what's what", if we listen - if we take time out from our heavy schedule of self-serving preoccupation and fear and speculation. The medicine men call it "the force that moves in all things" - the Spirit. You say you don't really know. But you were there along. You knew what your father knew, because you are of the same flesh. Real knowledge only passes through the intellect; but if it remains, it is stored in the body itself. So what that you don't know the intricate meanings and history of the holidays? Yes, like many others, I have been reading some frightening things atributed to jews which probably should be better atributed to zionists or just downright criminals. I had not noticed that jews even really existed as a different kind of people until very recently...I am 60 years old so this may seem difficult to believe. but a couple of my best friends from art school , my best friend and colleague at university where I taught architectural drawing for many years and a couple of girlfriends are jewish i think....they held no mystique or difference for me...they must have been very much like you and your family...us growing up in western australia, you in the USA. I even went 2 years to the free jewish university in Perth to try to learn Hebrew,as I studied Modern greek, Italian, French and German in my free time at the very University where i taught. But all this changed very recently when i was sending out my articles from Rense.com to my lists and there was one of those articles that show just how unjust Israel is in relation to the Palestinians and to my surprise got a mail back from one of these friends of 40 years telling me that he was angry at me for sending this kind of article as it very seriously looked like i was insulting him or his family!. I wrote him back immediately after I got over the shock, carefully delineating what i thought could clear the air, elucidating the difference for me between zionist actions and anti-semitism. to no avail...he said that "what if his family were zionists?" and then went on to tell me that he was afraid for jews today, that he is militantly anti religion, but that i should be careful about insulting his family. I have just simply been unable to write anything more to him...he did say that he was interested in my art ideas. in this moment, in this dangerous moment, art is almost of zero interest for me...except for music. his reaction has created a dilemma for me....your mail has showed me that it is true...there are jews who don´t want to see, don´t want to hear....simply all argument is anti-semitic. It is a process which begins early and is unrelenting. It begins in homes and schools. It begins on the radio and television. It begins in the print media. And, ultimately, a Pavlovian reaction occurs; man is no longer a critical thinker. Man has become a machine. I know the process all too well; I was a part of it for more years than I care to admit. And now that I am able to see beyond the curtain, even if only partially, I want nothing more then to alert people to the game that is being played at their expense.   Jews have played an important role in this duping drama and yet, the average Jew remains ignorant of what is transpiring. If the author or speaker hasn't been involved in sufficient scandal, you are adept at fabricating a scandal against the person or persons. If none of these are effective, you are known to resort to physical attacks. But NEVER do you try to prove the information wrong. First, you ignore the charges, hoping the information will not be given widespread distr   Bernstein challenged the ADL to an open debate on television. There is a virtual media blackout on some of the most prescient occurrences that have led to the untenable situation in today's world. In the late 1800's, the Zionists plotted to take over Palestine. Most people are not aware that the Jews had not controlled Palestine since the days of the Roman Empire and that the small group of Arab Jews who lived in Palestine got along well with their Muslim hosts. They never expressed any desire to overthrow the Ottoman rulers. This movement came strictly from influential European Zionists.   In 1914, Germany, Austria-Hungary and the Ottoman Turkish Empire were fighting against England, France and Russia. By 1916, however, it appeared that they had won the war. Germany made a favorable offer to Britain, and yet, the British and the international Zionists had different plans. Led by Chiam Weizmann, they influenced the United States to enter the war on Britain's side. The price was that the British would reward the Zionists by taking Palestine from the conquered Ottoman Empire. Once under British control, the Jews of Europe would be "encouraged" to immigrate to Palestine.   Zionists such as Bernard Baruch, Louis Brandeis, Paul Warburg, Jacob Schiff and others influenced President Woodrow Wilson, a man whose closet contained a few skeletons that he preferred to keep hidden.   As Dr. Pastore says "The press transformed the German Kaiser and his people into bloodthirsty 'Huns. Freedman was an American millionaire who broke all ties with fellow Zionists years after the war and went on to expose the truth about both World Wars and the Zionist activities. I have felt the sorrow and disbelief. It is important, however, that we begin to write some real history on those blank pages in your school syllabus.   The Balfour Declaration was a letter issued in November of 1917 by the British statesman Arthur James Balfour, the foreign secretary. It expressed the British government's approval of Zionism and "the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people." And so, Israel was established as an independent state in 1948 in the mandated area.   The German people resented the Zionist role in WW 1. They resented the Treaty of Versailles and the brutal reparations. The German economy was in ruins and the people elected Adolf Hitler in 1932. The Nazi party soon took control from the Zionists. (who had controlled the German media, banks and universities).   Zionists called for action against Germany and boycotts were imposed in the UK and USA. On March 24, 1933, "The Daily Express" of England carried the following headline; "Judea Declares War on Germany. Jews of All the World Unite in Action" ( Daily Express (England) March 24, 1933.)   Germany and Poland went to war over the disputed territory in 1939. Great Britain and France declared war on Germany under the pretext of protecting Poland, ignoring the fact that Stalin's Soviet Union had invaded Poland too. In the spring of 1940, the war in Western Europe began when Germany launched preemptive invasions of Norway, Holland and Belgium. In the United States, the Zionists pressured Franklin Delano Roosevelt to involve the United States in the war.   The rest is history, if you'll pardon the poor pun. The United States' entry into the war resulted in another crushing defeat for Germany.   A few years after the end of the second World War, the plan to establish the nation of Israel in Palestine materialized. Zionist acts of terror ensued. The most notorious terror group was the Irgun, led by Menachem Begin. Ironically, Mr. Begin would later go on to become the Prime Minister of Israel and the winner of the Nobel Peace Prize. It kind of leaves you scratching your head, doesn't it?   Dr. Pastore reports: "July 22, 1946, Irgun terrorists, dressed as Arabs, entered the Kind David Hotel in Jerusalem. They unloaded 225 kilograms of explosives. The Secretariat of the Government of Palestine and the Headquarters of the British Forces in Palestine were housed there. Most of the victims were British but 15 innocent Jews also died. The radical Zionists had no trouble killing their fellow Jews in their attempt to advance their mission.   The Irgun terror gang also targeted Arab civilians in order to frighten them into leaving their homes and villages. The massacre at Deir Yassin, April 9, 1948, was one such occurrence.   Christian Arabs numbering over 254 were dragged from their homes, lined up and shot. Many were old men, women and children.   By 1948, the UN, UK and US had recognized the nation of Israel. One of its first acts was to pass "the law of return", which gave any Jew in the world the right to move to Israel and become a citizen."   And so, the land we call Israel was, in reality, stolen from the Arabs in a brutal fashion and the brutality has not stopped.   In the years that have followed, many "false flag" operations have occurred:   1. In 1955, Israeli agents, impersonating Arab terrorists were caught staging a series of bombings against US installations in Egypt. The scandal came to be known as the Lavon affair.   2. In 1967, during a war with the Arabs, Israeli gunboats and fighter jets attacked the USS Liberty, an unarmed US ship. Thirty five American sailors were murdered and 170 were injured. Their excuse was that they mistook the ship for an Egyptian one. However, survivors of the incident have contradicted this. www.ussliberty.org.   3. In the 1980's, the Israelis once again succeeded in framing enemy Arabs in order to anger the United States. Former Mossad case officer Victor Ostrovsky defected from the Mossad and tried to warn the United States about their evil, murderous nature. He told how the Israelis framed Libya for the bombing of a German night club which framed Libya and caused President Reagan to bomb Libya in 1986, killing the 4 year old daughter of Libyan leader Muamar Qadhafi. Ostrovsky's 1990 book, By Way of Deception revealed how the Mossad recruits Arab agents to carry out their missions. He also stated "Israeli agents are skilled at impersonating Arabs."   It is imperative to emphasize that Zionism is nobody's friend. It is imperative that Jewish people realize that they too have been betrayed by the Zionists who have continued using Judaism to hide behind. In fact, when all the details are carefully examined and carefully considered, the painful reality is that it was ZIONISM which literally sent Europe's Jews into the bowels of the Holocaust.'   A veil of disbelief shrouds many Jewish eyes. According to Lenni Brenner's book Zionism in the Age of Dictators (Ch.7), the Zionist party was the only other political party in Nazi Germany that enjoyed a measure of freedom, and could publish a newspaper. "If I knew that it would be possible to save all the children in Germany by bringing them over to England and only half of them by transporting them to Eretz Israel, then I opt for the second alternative." In November 1942, Rabbi Michael Dov-Ber Weismandel, a Jewish activist in Slovakia approached Adolph Eichmann's representative, Dieter Wisliceny: "How much money would be needed for all the European Jews to be saved?" Wisliceny went to Berlin and returned with an answer.   For a mere $2 million they could have all the Jews in Western Europe and the Balkans. Weismandel sent a courier to the World Zionist Organization in Switzerland. His request was refused. The official, Nathan Schwalb sent enough money to save only Weismandel and his cadre. He wrote:   "About the cries coming from your country, we should know that all the Allied nations are spilling much of their blood, and if we do not sacrifice any blood, by what right shall we merit coming before the bargaining table when they divide nations and lands at the war's end? ....for only with blood shall we get the land." (Brenner, Zionism, p.237)   "Why would the Zionist leaders betray the Jews of Europe?" You wonder. After all, the entire rationale for the state of Israel has been that it was intended to be a refuge for Jews facing persecution.   The Zionists, to the contrary, saw any effort to rescue Europe's Jews not as the fulfillment of their political purpose but as a threat to their entire movement. If Europe's Jews were saved, they would wish to go elsewhere and the rescue operation would have nothing to do with the Zionist project of conquering Palestine. Their obsession with colonizing Palestine and overwhelming the Arabs led the Zionist movement to oppose any rescue of the Jews facing death, because the ability to deflect select manpower to Palestine would be impeded.   From 1933 to 1935, the World Zionist Organization turned down two-thirds of all the German Jews who applied for immigration certificates. As late as 1943, while countless Jews in Europe were dying, the U.S. Congress proposed to set up a commission to "study" the problem. Rabbi Stephen Wise, who was the principal American spokesperson for Zionism, came to Washington to testify against the rescue bill because it would divert attention from the colonization of Palestine.   One would have, perhaps, expected the Zionists to understand the meaning of humiliation and the pain of being perpetual refugees. And yet, in place of compassion, the Zionists celebrated the persecution of others, even as they first betrayed the Jews and then degraded them. They selected a victim people of their own on whom to inflict a conquering design. A chilling tale of Zionist crimes against their brethren is known as "The Ringworm Children."   In 1951, the director general of the Israeli Health Ministry, Dr. Chaim Sheba flew to America and returned with 7 x-ray machines, supplied to him by the American army.   They were to be used in a mass atomic experiment with an entire generation of Sephardi youths to be used as guinea pigs. Every Sephardi child was to be given 35,000 times the maximum dose of x-rays through his head. For doing so, the American government paid the Israeli government 300,000 Israeli liras a year. The entire Health budget was 60,000 liras. The money paid by the Americans is equivalent to billions of dollars today.   To fool the parents of the victims, the children were taken away on "school trips" and their parents were later told the x-rays were a treatment for the scourge of scalpal ringworm. 6,000 of the children died shortly after their doses were given, the many of the rest developed cancers that killed them over time and are still killing them now. While living, the victims suffered from disorders such as epilepsy, amnesia, Alzheimer's disease, chronic headaches and psychosis.   Yes, that is the subject of the documentary in cold terms. It is another matter to see the victims on the screen. ie. To watch the Moroccan lady describe what getting 35,000 times the dose of allowable x-rays in her head feels like.   "I screamed make the headache go away. Make the headache go away. Make the headache go away. But it never went away."   To watch the bearded man walk hunched down the street.   "I'm in my fifties and everyone thinks I'm in my seventies. I have to stoop when I walk so I won't fall over. They took my youth away with those x-rays."   To watch the old lady who administered the doses to thousands of children.   "They brought them in lines. First their heads were shaved and smeared in burning gel.   Then a ball was put between their legs and the children were ordered not to drop it, so they wouldn't move. The children weren't protected over the rest of their bodies. There were no lead vests for them. I was told I was doing good by helping to remove ringworm. If I knew what dangers the children were facing, I would never have cooperated. Never!"   Because the whole body was exposed to the rays, the genetic makeup of the children was often altered, affecting the next generation. We watch the woman with the distorted face explain, "All three of my children have the same cancers my family suffered. Are you going to tell me that's a coincidence?"   Everyone notices that Sephardi women in their fifties today, often have sparse patchy hair, which they try to cover with henna. Most of us assumed it was just a characteristic of Sephardi women. We watch the woman on the screen wearing a baseball-style hat. She places a picture of a lovely young teenager with flowing black hair opposite the lens. "That was me before my treatment. Now look at me." She removes her hat. Even the red henna can't cover the horrifying scarred bald spots.   The majority of the victims were Moroccan because they were the most numerous of the Sephardi immigrants. The generation that was poisoned became the country's perpetual poor and criminal class. It didn't make sense. The Moroccans who fled to France became prosperous and highly educated. The common explanation was that France got the rich, thus smart ones. The real explanation is that every French Moroccan child didn't have his brain cells fried with gamma rays.   The film made it perfectly plain that this operation was no accident. Today they are wildly flailing accusations at anyone who, in their estimation, is guilty of a "hate" crime And as their brush continues to broaden, they are busily applying sweeping strokes to the word "racism" and hungrily scanning the landscape for anyone who dares to oppose the actions of any non-white individual, group or nation. Whether the non-white individual has committed an act of criminal conduct appears to be irrelevant to the SPLC. The Southern Poverty Law Center was founded by Julian Bond and Morris Dees and is based in Montgomery Alabama. Since 1998, Bond has been chairman of the NAACP but remains active with the Center and serves on its board of Directors. Bond states that America is hopelessly racist. "Everywhere we see clear racial fault lines, which divide American society as much now as at any time in our past, " he said in 1999. Bond now holds 23 honorary degrees and is Distinguished Professor at American University and professor of history at the University of Virginia. And what about Morris Dees, you ask? Perhaps the question is best answered by Dees's former legal associate Millard Farmer who describes the crusading lawyer as "the Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker of the civil rights movement" (with apologies to Jim and Tammy) "Former associates say that Dees is obsessed with making money." By nonprofit standards, the SPLC has an enormous endowment fund of over $152 million, according to its 2005 annual report. Although they bill themselves as a civil rights law firm, only a fraction of their resources go to actual legal work. Most of the money is devoted to "educating the general public, public officials, teachers, students and law enforcement agencies and officers with respect to issues of hate and intolerance and promoting tolerance of differences throughout the schools." In the year ending on October 31, 2005, the SPLC paid Morris Dees $297,559 in salary and pension plan contributions. SPLC President Richard Cohen took home $274,838, but the Center co-founder Joseph Levin received only $171,904 for his efforts as general counsel. The Southern Poverty Law Center has mastered the art of inflaming racial passions and it has moved from the not so sublime to the totally ridiculous. For example, the latest, and, in my humble estimation, laughable, claim has been that there is racism in The Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter. What's next? Putting Little Jack Horner in the corner seems to be a case for Child Protective Services and, of course, there is something terribly unkosher about The Three Little Pigs. So what is the matter with The Lord Of The Rings: The Return Of The King? In 2004, The Southern Poverty Law Center's website Tolerance.org published an article titled "A Return of the White Patriarchy" by Andrea Lewis. Ms. Lewis complained that in The Lord of The Rings: The Return of the King, which is based on a novel by J.R.R. Tolkien : "Almost all of the heroes of the series are manly men who are whiter than white. They are frequently framed in halos of blinding bright light and exude a heavenly aura of all that is Eurocentric and good. Who but these courageous Anglo-Saxon souls can save Middle Earth from the dark and evil forces of the world"? As Matthew Vadum, Editor of Organization Trends, pointed out "Who knew that the hobbits and elves in a movie that won 11 Academy Awards in 2004 were in reality Little Hitlers in disguise?" Going beyond the ridiculous, another insult to intelligence appeared in the guise of a 2005 article by Colleen O'Brien. She informed the mesmerized movie maven that Harry Potter was basically "A Half-Blood Prince" Revealed. The mega-bestseller by J.K. Rowling embraces a racist worldview, according to Ms. O'Brien: "In J.K. Rowling's world, half-blood means 'half magic' But the term-reflecting a dichotomy between magic/powerful and mundane/helpless - implies a hierarchy. This 'magic' hierarchy directly resembles racial hierarchies. Racially speaking, a 'half-blood' could be a person with parents of differing races, such as one Asian parent and one white parent; in this case, not being 'pure-blood' can diminish certain rights and inclusion in the community. Even in the world of magic, the term 'half-blood' implies that one half does not mingle with the other. Half-bloods come from two different worlds and the idea of these bifurcated worlds conjures images of racial segregation. These inflections of the language of race still make me cringe. Why does the magic metaphor emerge from a language of racial difference? And what do millions of readers do with these metaphors? " Matthew Vadum Ms. O'Brien's article might make an amusing bit for The Daily Show, but as a serious literary appraisal it is somewhere between ludicrous and chilling. A Tolerance.org "Hate In the News" bulletin from a week before Halloween 2002 asked young readers to think carefully about the political ramifications of trick-or-treat costumes. Two partial excerpts follow: WEARING A 'FUNNY' COSTUME? Ask yourself if the humor is based on 'making fun' of real people, real human traits or cultures? WEARING A 'BEAUTIFUL' COSTUME? Ask yourself if the costume is meant to be beautiful, are these characteristics drawn from commercial references, such as movie characters? Too often, "beautiful" at Halloween means white, blonde, princess masks." Matthew Vadum Even the deepest sleepiest of sheeple has got to wonder what is motivating the SPLC and has it totally lost control. The Southern Poverty Law Center has attacked a conservative intellectual writer, Dinish D'Souza, who has made powerful statements about the kind of racial alarmism that is the SPLC'S "bread and butter." D'Souza, a dark-skinned immigrant to the U.S. from India, argued that the intolerant, politically correct culture of American universities stifles free thought because it is obsessed with race, class and gender. D'Souza also stated that "It is the civil rights industry which now has a vested interest in the persistence of the ghetto ". In addition, the SPLC has accused the American Military of being racist. Recently, the Center went after the Minutemen Project, a group devoted to preventing illegal border crossings into the United States from Mexico. The Center slapped the R word ("racist" not "righteous") on the Project. It has been a long time since I studied for my College Board exams, but perhaps I should review my vocabulary. It may depend on what your definition of "is" is, but I certainly do not see any confusion in the definition of "illegal." Even Ted Turner sees illegal immigration as a problem. Will the SPLC tar and feather him too? While some people are still following the politically correct "yellow brick road" I prefer to follow the money trail. Perhaps, at the end of the day, the Southern Poverty Law Center's activism may be merely a profitable enterprise. Trafficking supposed racists is a lucrative business indeed. And, if you cannot locate them......... then, create them. Copyright:2006   Paul Fromm's Ordeal Monday December 18th at 6:22 PM By Judy Andreas The first time I heard Paul Fromm was when he was a guest on Hesham Tillawi's show Current Issues TV. Mr. Fromm is with the Canadian Association for Free Expression and goes to bat for people accused of "thought crimes". The whole concept of "thought crimes" boggles my mind. After all, since when are "thoughts" punishable? Is the government now taking up residence in our minds? And so, I applauded Mr. Fromm for, what appeared to me, his honorable mission. On October 21st, I met Paul Fromm in New York City when I attended his lecture on Marxism. The talk was scholarly and fair. It was after the lecture, that I learned about Paul Fromm's ordeal. I was appalled to learn that on October 9th of this year, Paul Fromm was detained for over two hours by Canada Customs. The incident occurred as he was returning from Seattle for a speaking engagement in Vancouver. His luggage and pockets were searched. The operatives for the Canada Border Services Agency took a book that was on Mr. Fromm's person; Race, Intelligence and Bias in Academe. Apparently, this book fell into the category of "hate propaganda". In addition, they cleared and then seized Mr. Fromm's laptop for further investigation. Fromm recalls: "When I went through primary inspection, the female agent wrote the number "1< on my declaration. I was immediately signaled over after I had picked up my luggage." Paul Fromm described his most unpleasant experience. "The secondary inspection took place in a long hall with 17 stations with stainless steel examining tables. I was first dealt with by two East Indian males agents who refused to give me their names. My briefcase was examined piece of paper by piece of paper. I objected to the agent reading a note from an elderly supporter in Edmonton. I objected as this note praising one of our recent newsletters was utterly outside their mandate." It was not drugs. It was not weapons. It was not undeclared merchandize or currency over $10,000. He was forced to empty all his pockets and to turn them inside out. Fromm's objection to the prolonged search fell on deaf ears. The agents were not interested in what he had to say. Apparently, this is not the first time Mr. Fromm has been harassed at the border. The last time, his laptop was seized was in Vancouver in August, 2005. " Afterwards, it had to be debugged from whatever had been placed on it or happened to it. After a long examination, it was returned to me." Mr. Fromm shared. Interestingly, they had seized his mouse and battery pack. "Why?" I wondered. Paul remarked "A mouse couldn't possibly contain hate propaganda". Mr. Fromm's ordeal lasted a total of more than two hours. "It is clear that the theft of my laptop, vital to my livelihood is a form of outright political persecution." The following day, Paul Fromm contacted Canada Border Services Agency at Vancouver Airport to track his stolen goods. I eventually was directed to the 'seizure control office' with the ominous phone number of 604-666-1811. At first, and you get used to this with government offices, no one would answer and I had to leave a message. I was persistent and eventually got a FAX number out the nameless woman who answered. I pointed out that, once before my laptop had been seized and my lawyer got it returned within a few days." The laptop computer should have been returned immediately. There were no grounds for its legal detention. Obviously, The Canada Border Services Agency had more clandestine reasons for Paul Fromm's detention. Several years ago, the members of The Canada Border Services Agency were involved in a complete breech of trust in a narcotics smuggling ring through Pearson Airport in Toronto. In addition, on a number of occasions, in both Ontario and British Columbia, agents fled their posts when they learned an armed American fugitive 'might' be headed for the border. Too add insult to injury, these political police are allowed to operate anonymously. "This is a recipe for tyranny" Fromm remarked. "They don't 'stand on guard' for Canada. Few visitors are checked by the agents who seem to spend long periods of time sipping coffee. Liars are greeted and allowed in while political dissidents have their possessions looted." On Monday, Mr. Fromm was contacted by Brian Roos of the Orwellian "prohibited importations unit" of Customs and ordered to provide all passwords so that Customs can get around the encryption program that guards his computer: "Please note that this laptop computer will continue to be held until a thorough review and determination is completed," he threatened. Give up the passwords or Customs steals Mr. Fromm's computer. Are you as appalled as I am, dear readers? Are you busily convincing yourself that the Canada Border Services Agency is making your life more secure or are you honest enough to admit that something is drastically wrong with this picture? I do not know whether you are in agreement with Mr. Fromm's politics, nor do I care. What I am addressing is Mr. Fromm's civil rights. Suspend your belief systems, distance yourself from your pet prejudices and look at this man. He is a human being who was guilty of no crime. (unless you feel that disagreeing with you is a crime) His rights have been violated. Can't you feel the injustice? New phrases are being introduced everyday and they are frightening phrases indeed. People talk about "Hate crimes" and "thought crimes". On closer inspection, these phrases merely describe a difference of opinion. Who determines what is "politically correct"? Who determines which people are going to be tyrannized? Who determines which people are going to be imprisoned? Who? If you are feeling complacent because you are in disagreement with Mr. Fromm, I implore you not to get too relaxed. You are careening down a slippery slope and your sense of security is a false one. In this powerful piece, Alexander Gutman, a Russian Jew, interviewed several German women who had survived a rape orgy and the subsequent unspeakable years in the Soviet Concentration Camps. The women in the film had been mere teenagers at the time of their ordeal. The women in this film were among the vast numbers of tortured souls who barely survived the horrors of Stalin's camps; horrors which they experienced alongside many fellow countrywomen and girls. In February 1945 at the Yalta Conference, Churchill, Roosevelt and Stalin agreed to a deal that would destroy the lives of thousands of Germans; Secret Order 7161. This order allowed the Red Army to “mobilize and intern for assignment to work in the USSR all able-bodied Germans”. In this manner the USSR’s war ravaged economy was to be revitalized. With that decree the fate of four women – Charlotte, Traute, Delheid and Dora - was sealed. Along with thousands of others, they were forced to march to work camps and endure a regime of hard labor. On the way they were denied food and water. “We weren’t shot or killed, but we were more likely to die than to survive,” Charlotte recalled. “The Russians didn’t care what happened to us. One day, Charlotte climbed in through the window to visit her sick sister. Gretchen warned her: “Don’t come back again or they will punish me.” The next day Gretchen , who was critically ill with dysentery, was forced to clean the hut from top to bottom. Later, the guards told Charlotte: “If you want to see your sister, go to the morgue.” Today Charlotte is free, but she will never be free of the memories and the pain. Those demons will haunt her for the rest of her life. The mental and physical torture the detainees endured only ended when they were released after five years. But to their despair, they were not allowed to return to Germany. They had nowhere to go.” However, the suffering of the women did not end there. The most cruel irony is the blame these older Germans continue to endure from the young. "Say what you want but please spell my name right"!   "You are too pretty to be Jewish", a member of a Christian Identity group paid me a compliment. (?) "What is your blood type? We had our annual Passover Celebration, we lit candles on Chanukah, on Rosh Hashanah my father made his pilgrimage to the shul and on Yom Kippur, my mother yelled at my sister and me as we headed out the door to spend time doing "our own thing"   "What will the neighbors think?" My mother's main concern echoed behind us.   I did not know much about the meaning behind the holidays except, supposedly, that they had something to do with the Jews fleeing persecution. In an attempt to enlighten me, Dad provided a copy of "Hillel's Happy Holidays". If I indeed read it, I do not remember it. And from what I have learned, since those innocent days of yesteryear, they were not necessarily "happy".   Dad pursued a career in medicine.   "You are wasting your time and money" His father had no empathy for his son's choice and wanted him to take his rightful place in the family furniture business. But Dad was resolute, and so, in the face of extreme opposition, he did various and sundry jobs to put himself through medical school. You see, my Dad had watched his mother die an excruciating death from esophageal cancer when he was a boy of 16. His motivation was to help put an end to suffering.   My father was a dreamer. But he was a lot more. An old fashioned man, Dad was the stereotypical family doctor with the little black bag who made "house calls". Yes, dear readers, there were such things, back in the day. Many a night, the phone would awaken him. Bag in hand, he set out to answer the cry of the sick. Those were the days before Medicare and Medicaid and so, if his patients could not pay, they did not pay.   "Before I die, there will probably be a cure for cancer" He said innocently. He has been dead for 24 years.   I am certain that my father, with his Orthodox background, had read the Talmud and yet, when my sister and I married outside the faith, both husbands were welcomed into the family. We never heard the "g" word. We were never exposed to any racist doctrine. If I had not reincarnated as an Internet essayist, I would never have known about the racist Babylonian Talmud. The Secular Jewish people I knew assimilated into the host culture and many of them intermarried. Their children also intermarried.   Friday night I listened to Joachim Martillo being interviewed on Lewis News. He is a convert to Islam but has a rich background in Jewish studies. In Israel, he got to experience the evils of Zionism first hand.   In my family of origin, lying to both Jews and Gentiles was a sin. And so I was glad to hear Mr. Martillo discuss the Kol Nidre, the most sacred and the most controversial prayer in the Jewish religion. "There are many non-Jewish Web sites that are alarmed by the existence of this prayer and what they feel is a license to lie and deceive year after year." We had a summer cottage upstate where no taxes were required, but our main place of residence was in heavily taxed Brooklyn, NY. He did not think it was ethical And furthermore, he felt privileged to be able to pay taxes in America. You see, Dad's family had been in Russia during the Pogroms. His older brother was nearly killed. And so, when they came to America, they literally kissed the ground.   And now it is 2007 and the world is precariously teetering in the balance. Israel is not the dream that my mother had envisioned. The America of today is not the dream of my father. They have morphed into a nightmare where greedy unconscionable elitists make the rules and the ordinary person, Jew or Gentile is merely fodder for the self serving goals of the ruling cabal. I have long since left the Jewish religion, if indeed, I was ever there. I was baptized in 1991 and opened myself to an entirely new reality.     The Internet screams about Jewish crimes and Jewish criminals. There are some people who feel that ALL Jews are culpable for the sins of their leaders. My mission has been twofold. One has been to open Jewish eyes to the reality of their corrupt leaders; leaders who have duped them in the past and are duping them again.   I yearn for Jewish people to question what is truly taking place in the Middle East. I yearn for Jewish people to question their history and their reported "victimhood". I yearn for Jewish people to become "individuals" and not fall prey to a "consensus trance" imposed upon them by "fear programming". I yearn for Jewish people not to accept the official narrative of events past and not to jail differing opinions. And, most passionately, I yearn for ALL Jewish people to recognize that nobody is any better or any worse than anyone else.   I yearn for non Jewish people to realize that not ALL Jewish people are corrupt and/or evil. (Although we will never make the headlines, my family of origin was not unique.) I yearn for non Jewish people to realize that there are many Jewish people speaking out and speaking up and, in the process, losing family, friends and jobs.   I yearn for both Jews and non Jews to realize that the "many" are being manipulated by the "few".   Despite our differing appearances and our differing belief systems, we are, at the end of the day, all part of the great body of humanity. There are things I miss, but over-all, it was a good decision. So, why am I writing you? I want you to know that you have fans here in New Zealand. Please do not respond to this message but use the same time to continue your writing   Judy, You're not the only one who has wondered what it means to be a x_______.   When and where I grew up, it was unsafe to be anything but a white man; and owing to the Dutch and French side of my ancestry, and the fact that my parents never told me otherwise, I got by as a little white science nerd. Sort of got by. Except seeing the one black boy in my school getting beat up almost daily made my blood boil, so I took a few beatings too, and was labeled "nigger lover".   I was enthralled by my dad's uncanny knowledge of the woods, and chastened by his consistent respect for life. "Just take the dead wood, son; don't cut that tree.", and "Don't kill that animal unless you plan to eat it." But I never knew why until about a year before he "crossed over" - "By the way, you're part Indian on both my dad and mom's side."   Like a door opened, I began to meet Indian people in the local community and, unlike most of the white people I ever met, we actually got along. Before long, I was introduced to several respected elders and medicine men. These were'nt the publicity seeking, self aggrandizing, money hungry types, but the genuine articles. I kept my mouth shut, and worked, and learned.   One of the things I learned is that, all stereotypes and fascinations aside, people are pretty much the same around the world. In the grand movie of life, most are "extras", just a few are bad guys, and just a few are good guys. I learned that a lot of The People are programmed to be sensitive about their own holocaust and traditions, but are too caught up in modern society to practice, or even remember those traditions. (It appears that this is one of the purposes of modern society.)   I learned that I'm too white to be Indian, and too Indian to be white. What that means is, since the US government invented the "blood quantum" method of determining who's what, a lot of people have subscribed to it, since it is rather simple-minded. According to the elders, however, a person was traditionally considered Indian if he lived as an Indian - no matter if his skin was green or his nose grew on the back of his head.   I also learned that none of this matters, because there is something about life which is much larger and deeper than being French or Jew or Indian, or even human, for a that matter. It's a force which both gives and takes life, every moment of the day, like your breath going in and out. It tells us "what's what", if we listen - if we take time out from our heavy schedule of self-serving preoccupation and fear and speculation. The medicine men call it "the force that moves in all things" - the Spirit.   You say you don't really know. But you were there along. You knew what your father knew, because you are of the same flesh. Real knowledge only passes through the intellect; but if it remains, it is stored in the body itself. So what that you don't know the intricate meanings and history of the holidays? In your article, your "yearnings" betray that your Spirit knows what's right. And that's what really counts. Regards, M   Thanks for the careful writing of your article...   Yes, like many others, I have been reading some frightening things atributed to jews which probably should be better atributed to zionists or just downright criminals.   I had not noticed that jews even really existed as a different kind of people until very recently...I am 60 years old so this may seem difficult to believe. but a couple of my best friends from art school , my best friend and colleague at university where I taught architectural drawing for many years and a couple of girlfriends are jewish i think....they held no mystique or difference for me...they must have been very much like you and your family...us growing up in western australia, you in the USA. I even went 2 years to the free jewish university in Perth to try to learn Hebrew,as I studied Modern greek, Italian, French and German in my free time at the very University where i taught.   But all this changed very recently when i was sending out my articles from Rense.com to my lists and there was one of those articles that show just how unjust Israel is in relation to the Palestinians and to my surprise got a mail back from one of these friends of 40 years telling me that he was angry at me for sending this kind of article as it very seriously looked like i was insulting him or his family!. I wrote him back immediately after I got over the shock, carefully delineating what i thought could clear the air, elucidating the difference for me between zionist actions and anti-semitism. to no avail...he said that "what if his family were zionists?" and then went on to tell me that he was afraid for jews today, that he is militantly anti religion, but that i should be careful about insulting his family. I have just simply been unable to write anything more to him...he did say that he was interested in my art ideas. in this moment, in this dangerous moment, art is almost of zero interest for me...except for music. his reaction has created a dilemma for me....your mail has showed me that it is true...there are jews who don´t want to see, don´t want to hear....simply all argument is anti-semitic.   I myself am an atheist..not an agnostic.   I believe that even the "moral "education that is supposedly presumed to be inherent in the "education" of children with religion and is supposedly elevating, is subverted right from the word go, into elitist/racist/control. for me all religions are subversions of the words and deeds of their creators...perversions of their teachings and ideas....and the logical outcome of this is millions of hypocrites...having to steer between hardly understood high ideals and weird realities created by failed idealists or cynical manipulators! we could do much better without these aberrations.   But getting back to this letter about my shock...and my old friend.......you gave me a clearer understanding of this scene and my reaction to it.
