Last spring, President George W. Bush faced his first major foreign- policy challenge when an American EP-3E surveillance plane was hit by a Chinese fighter and forced to land on Hainan Island. Tensions flared even further as China detained the 24 American crewmen for 10 days, the standoff eventually resolving after both plane and crew were finally released. Still, U.S.-Sino relations remained ominously chilly throughout the year, until they were overshadowed by the events of Sept. 11.
Post 9-11, the Bush administration's focus has, of course, been riveted on the terror war, and China has gone off the main radar. But despite Beijing's public support for the coalition's war on terror, regular rumblings of Chinese complicity with the terrorists have surfaced. Among them was a WND report of some Chinese fighters assisting the Taliban.
Now, author Gordon Thomas has written a book claiming that Beijing had an actual role in the Sept. 11 attack on America. In "Seeds of Fire," Thomas purports to show how Beijing is positioning itself to become America's "new major enemy."
An investigative journalist from Ireland and author of 38 books, Thomas points out that on Sept. 11, a transport plane from Beijing landed in Kabul. A Chinese delegation had gone to Afghanistan to sign a deal with the Taliban - reportedly brokered by Osama bin Laden - to provide the Afghans with missile-tracking technology, state-of-the- art communications and air-defense systems. In return, says Thomas, the Taliban would order Muslim separatists in northwest China to stop their activities.
In a Sept. 13 report, the Washington Post confirmed that Beijing had just signed a deal with the Taliban to provide Afghanistan "with much needed infrastructure and economic development assistance."
Due to the fall of the Taliban at the hands of opposition forces and the United States, however, "the goods were never delivered," Thomas told WorldNetDaily.
The delegation, says Thomas, included senior officers of the People's Liberation Army and the Bureau of State Security, as well as managers from two of China's leading defense contractors.
In his book, Thomas contends that hours after the plane landed in Kabul, CIA Director George Tenet received a coded "red alert" message from Israeli Mossad agents that presented a "worst case scenario" - that China would use a surrogate, bin Laden, to attack the United States.
Thomas also claims that the head of Pakistan's intelligence service was in Washington to meet with Tenet on Sept. 11, and that he briefed Tenet that day on the links between bin Laden and China.
The intelligence agent "told [Tenet] that China had made a decisive decision," wrote Thomas. "It was prepared to infuriate America and its allies in supporting bin Laden and the Taliban because Afghanistan fitted into China's own long-term strategic plans."
Saying that bin Laden has traveled to China numerous times to meet with officials there, Thomas contends that "almost certainly he talked to them about obtaining" material to build weapons of mass destruction.
China's President Jiang Zemin, adds Thomas, waited three days to contact Bush about the Sept. 11 attack and told the U.S. president that, vis-à-vis the war on terrorism, China would find itself in a "difficult situation, given our well-known position of opposing any interference in the internal affairs of any country."
Washington sources say that Bush "gritted his teeth and said he would push on without China," Thomas wrote.
The author also cites what he calls the "happy parties in the streets of Beijing" following the 9-11 attacks.
"They're selling videos there with commentary saying, 'America had it coming,'" said Thomas. "Their message is: 'America can be defeated.'"
On another note, Thomas believes President Bush's decision to pull out of the ABM treaty will cause Russia and China to strengthen their ties - to the detriment of the United States.
"It's in China's interest to see the U.S. destablilized," he added.

Hats off to you, sir, for a job well done! The Soviets tried for ten years to do what it took you only two months to accomplish in Afghanistan. How did you do that? It's funny how a couple months ago there were all these Taliban, and now -- there aren't any! You must be some kind of super magician -- almost as good at disappearing acts as ol' Osama (or, as they say on the Fox Nuisance Channel, "Usama" -- I like their spelling better, like "We put the 'USA' in USAma!"). He did exist, didn't he? I would hate to have gotten myself all worked up over the wrong evildoer! I loved that last tape of his, the home video of his sleepover with that sheik. What a party animal, that guy!
And how 'bout that Northern Alliance! Thanks to them, my weekly supply of heroin will finally be reinstated. Whoo-hoo -- and just in time for New Year's Rockin' Eve! Those Taliban simply did NOT have the best delivery system for the stuff, kinda like why you never see Beaman's gum anymore -- poor distribution and shelf placement. According to the New York Times, the Northern Alliance has put all the poppy farmers back to work, and they are promising a "bumper crop" by spring.
But Mr. Bush, I am most impressed with how you have used those who died on September 11th to justify your lining the pockets of your rich friends and campaign contributors. Your "Economic Stimulus Bill" -- pure genius! You actually got the House of Representatives to pass a bill eliminating the law that said corporations have to pay at least a token minimum tax every year.
See, most people forget that back in your daddy's day (when he was VP) thousands of companies were able to lawyer their way out of paying any taxes at all! Then a law was passed to stop that. Now you got the House to agree to give all these corporations back ALL the minimum taxes they have paid since 1986!! That's $140 billion of givebacks ($1.4 billion to IBM, a billion to Ford, $800 million to GM, etc.). And you got this passed, all under the guise of "September 11th!" How do you get away with this without the American public whoopin' your behind? Man, you are THE MAN!
Hey, and tell your top sheriff, Big John Ashcroft, that his refusal to let the FBI look at the files of gun background checks that the Justice Department keeps -- to see if any of the terrorists or suspected terrorists have purchased weapons in the past two years -- took some balls! Even though checking those files might turn up information that could protect us in possible future attacks, Ashcroft was more concerned with not upsetting the NRA than in helping his own FBI catch the bad guys. Now that's what I call getting your priorities straight. Big John may have lost his Senate seat last year to a dead guy, but he sure as heck ain't gonna lose me as a huge admirer!
Well, I better go before someone from the Office of Homeland Security mistakes me for someone who needs to be "interviewed!" Rest assured I'm doing my part for the country by shopping my sorry ass off in this week before Christmas. Buy! Buy! Buy! Tora! Tora! Tora! Bora! Whoo-hoo, Prince O' Peace!! Fight Team Fight! Dear Reader,
The following article was written and compiled with the purpose of
causing you the reader to question the news coverage of the 9/11
attacks. Most of all it's written to cause you to question how you
formulate your opinions and beliefs based the information received
from your favorite news sources. This is not just limited to
television, radio, newspaper and Internet, but includes family,
friends and coworkers.
The following statement is an extraordinarily bizarre and outlandish
statement concerning the 9/11 attacks. The statement is as
follows: "U.S. President George W. Bush had complete foreknowledge of
the 9/11 attacks and he actively participated in them to ensure their
success." The first part of this article will delve into the how and
why of how this statement can be true without the mass population
being wise to the facts. The later part will provide you with facts
and resources so that you can do your own study.
To those readers who dismiss the above statement as "conspiracy
theory", answer this, what does it take for a "conspiracy theory"
to
become a "conspiracy fact"? Will it require CNN coverage for an
entire week, will it require firsthand knowledge or will it require a
close and trusted acquaintance with first hand knowledge? When I make
the above statement to people from all walks of life and all
education levels, a common reply I get is, "I can see the possibility
of that being factual". When massive amounts of money and power are
involved, anything can happen and does happen. Here lies a derivation
of Murphy's Law which states" "if anything can go wrong it will go
wrong" and the derivation is "if anything can go corrupt it will go
corrupt". All across America and the World people are expanding their
scope of vision to see large scale conspired corruption.
Imagine that all knowledge is placed on a large circle marked off by
360 degrees. If all we view throughout our lives are limited sectors,
let's say between 0 – 90 degrees and 180 – 270 degrees. At that rate
we blank out half of the available knowledge. Now let's say that we
start to look past each side of those sectors, then whole new views
open up. When Christopher Columbus sailed the ocean, he had to keep
his compass under wraps away from the crew. Many of them believed
that it was the hand of the devil that made the needle move.
Obviously all they lacked was the knowledge and understanding of
magnetism. In the 1890's the head of the US Patent Office said: "we
should shut the Patent Office down because everything that will be
invented has been invented". Wouldn't he be embarrassed and amazed to
take a technology tour today?

God, 911 and George Bush
Since 9/11 the words "God Bless America" have shown up everywhere.
This article will consider the nature of God in relationship to
George W. Bush and the above statement as well as a later statement
about his father George H.W. Bush. The title of "God" can be used
loosely to address anyone or anything that a person pays homage to.
From this point here on, "God" will refer to the compassionate
creator of mankind who has endowed us with the gift of freewill, to
choose to live on a system of moral values and reap the reward or to
shun them and reap the consequences.
The real war is not in Afghanistan nor against terrorism, it's raging
away within the borders of America. The objective of this war is to
capture the freethinking minds of anyone willing to abandon theirs
and to steal any allegiance to God our creator that we may have left.
How could God's "enemy" (see definition below) attempt to make the
boldest statement of superiority, would God's enemy achieve
superiority through forcible conquest? No! The most damaging way to
engage this war against God and all upright people is covertly and
over an extended period of time. In this fashion mankind's allegiance
is slowly handed to the enemy by consent versus being taken by force.
ENEMY - by definition from Webster's New Collegiate Dictionary – one
that is antagonistic to another – one seeking to injure, overthrow or
confound an opponent (emphasis added) – something harmful or deadly –
military adversary – hostile unit or force.
It's said that if you put a frog in a pot of water and very slowly
bring the water to a boil, the frog will stay in the pot and
ultimately boil to death. Just before the frog goes unconscious, it's
in its comfort zone, there in its own little hot tub not aware that
its soon to be someone's dinner. What greater insult to God could
there be than to have mankind slowly and methodically boiled away to
a spiritual death? What is spiritual "death"? To answer that let's
consider what is possibly the most dominant aspect of what
spiritual "life" is:
Spiritual "life" is morals in action versus manmade laws. In other
words "do to others as you would have them do to you."
Spiritual "death" would therefore be the opposite. "Take
advantage of
others before they take advantage you."
We like to think of our "leaders" as devoted protectors of our Nation
and our God given rights. But what if many of these "leaders" are not
as they appear? What if these "leaders" are blind to borders, blind
to compassion, blind to everything except their own self-serving
interests? Why would our own "leaders" perpetrate such heinous crimes
as the 9/11 attacks, what's the motive? One major motive is to cut
short our constitutional rights, which was done through the anti-
terrorism bill, passed just six weeks after the 9/11 attacks. More on
that subject shortly. Another motive is money or profits made from
war, in war there are vast sums of money to be made. The American
public picks up the tab while the groups who plan and manipulate the
war share in the profits. The second section of this paper is a
separate article which provides you with five pages of facts and
history covering three generations of the Bush family and their
arming of American enemies.
The Hegellian Dialectic process provides a simple recipe to
manipulate a situation. It works by creating a problem known as
the "thesis" (terrorist attack), the next step is to provide
a "solution", called the "antithesis" (heightened security,
restricted freedoms and military action – the "war on terrorism").
The party causing the problem appears to be different from the party
providing the "solution", however behind the scenes they are one in
the same. The "solution provider" achieves the intended result of
enraging Americans to support a war and further restricting the
personal freedoms of Americans. This is known as the "synthesis". In
summary, create a problem, provide a solution and achieve the desired
result with the full blessings of the mass population.
The bottom line is an increasing police state where compliance is the
easy way out for the masses. America now has armed military guards
posted in its airports, which makes many people feel more safe and
secure. Americans are now more apt to say, "it's for the good of the
country that police can search and seize without a warrant". There
goes the Constitution by consent.
Article IV of our Constitutional Bill of Rights states:
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers
and effects against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be
violated and no warrant shall issue but upon probable cause,
supported by Oath or affirmation and particularly describing the
place to be searched and the persons or things to be seized.
How would you feel if there were a knock at your door and when you
answer it, the official at the door says something like? "There's a
suspected terrorist, burglar, car thief, shop lifter, speeding
driver, jay walker, dog without a licensee at large in your
neighborhood and we're performing a search of each house so that we
can apprehend this person/dog." This scenario is outlandish right now
but keep in mind that every practice has a foundation and in five,
ten, fifteen or twenty years what's unthinkable now has the potential
to become commonplace when draconian laws such as you will read about
next have been passed.
Congress has turned its back on the Constitution and passed anti-
terrorism bills (H.R. 2975 and S. 1510) that authorize completely
unconstitutional activities such as the "delayed notice" provision,
Section 213, allowing the government to conduct covert searches. This
means that law enforcement agencies can enter a person's home or
office, search through the person's possessions, in some cases seize
physical objects or electronic information, without the person
knowing that law enforcement agents were there.
Churches frequently speak of the evil that emanates from Satan or the
Devil. The message within the average church is mostly limited to the
behavioral manifestations commonly associated with the Devil such as,
murder, greed, idolatry, jealousy, envy, lust, pride, etc. In other
words the branches of evil.

From here on the words EVIL and CORRUPT will be used frequently. The
following definitions are from Webster's New Collegiate Dictionary.
Read the definitions several times over a get a feel for the essence
of them.
EVIL - something that brings sorrow, distress or calamity – morally
reprehensible – arriving from actual or imputed bad character or
conduct – causing discomfort or repulsion – offensive – disagreeable –
pernicious.
- Versus -
COMPASSION – sympathetic consciousness of others' distress together
with a desire to alleviate it
CORRUPT – to change from good to bad in moral, manners or actions –
to degrade with unsound principles or moral values – to alter from
the original or to change form or version – to become tainted or
rotten – to become morally debased – to cause disintegration or ruin –
morally degenerate and perverted.
- Versus -
INTEGRITY – an unimpaired condition: soundness – firm adherence to a
code of moral values: incorruptibility – the quality or state of
being complete or undivided
The root of physical evil is the corrupt institutions set in place by
self-serving groups. These institutions profit by continually placing
stumbling blocks in front of the unsuspecting mass population to
cause human weaknesses (the branches of evil) to surface and
multiply. The end result is a whole society in decay. Every aspect of
modern living puts us in contact with these institutions that are
involved in; banking, healthcare, education, foods, technology,
transportation, entertainment and more. If a vital society is ever
going to prevail, people must become knowledgeable of the
institutions that work to suppress the full capacity of all people.
Hosea 4:6 from the Old Testament of the Bible says: "My people are
destroyed for a lack of knowledge".
A prime example of an evil and corrupt institution is the Federal
Reserve Bank. This is a privately owned bank, simply look underneath
Federal Express in the white page section of the yellow pages and you
will find the listing for the Federal Reserve Bank. You will not find
it in the Blue Pages/Government listings. This concoction of self-
serving men has possibly caused more pain and suffering than all the
wars of the 20th century combined. Consider the fact that the only
record of Jesus being physically agitated is when he confronts the
moneychangers. A book titled, "The Creature from Jekyll Island" by
E.G. Griffin thoroughly details the travesties of the moneychangers
into current times. Jekyll Island, Georgia is where the Federal
Reserve Act was secretly drafted in 1910 by a group of seven men
representing one-quarter of the wealth of the world. This book also
gives a detailed account of the calculated methodical staging of wars
by the moneychangers and the profits made from them.
The practices of the Federal Reserve Bank have turned America into a
debtor nation. The Federal Reserve has been the monetary source
behind America's materialistic consumer society that has caused us to
covet "things". America is way over it's head in personal and
business debt to the point that every day the majority of American's
must wake up and hit the floor running just to pay the bank. So how
does banking relate to the 9/11 attacks? It's one of many tools that
keep Americans distracted. For many people, "FREEDOM" in America now
means 5 year 0.0% APR financing on their choice of a Lexus, Acura,
BMW etc. The collateral damage from this institution is massive!
Study up on it!
For many people "God Bless America" could be interchanged
with "Freemarket Bless America". Freemarket means commerce, commerce
to keep those bills paid. Keeping the bills paid is necessary but
when a whole nation has to focus on that, it takes away from the joy
that life has to offer and casts a dark cloud over what could be
sunny days. Thanks to one reader who noted that this article
addresses all of the people who: "insist on keeping their heads
buried in the sand of 'house payments' and 'flag waving'." A side
note about flags, it's ironic that most of those flags are made in
Shang Hai, China factories that went into overtime on 9/13.

Two scenarios for mankind exist; the first is under the moral
principles of God our compassionate creator. In this scenario
freewill carries love and compassion, it's the place where "do to
others as you would have them do to you" is the natural action in all
aspects of life.
The alternative scenario is under the practices of the corrupt
opposite of God, commonly know as Satan or Lucifer. Whether you do or
do not believe in Satan is not the issue here. The issue is can you
believe that there are humans that group together on a global scale
who are greed driven, EVIL and CORRUPT and whose intention it is to
control the masses for their own gain? An extreme society under a
group of these people would probably be very similar to the society
depicted in George Orwell's book "1984", an absolute police state
where "Big Brother" is watching and manipulating our every move. Keep
in mind that God's enemy works secretly and slowly, working to bring
a state of affairs that might seem impossible today into the reality
of the future.
A police force is necessary to enforce reasonable laws that are
dictated by basic morals such as don't lie, steal, injure or kill.
What is a police state? A police state is a society with intense
restrictions and scrutiny, where all persons are guilty until proven
innocent. It's a place where all aspects of life are made public and
an arm of government is placed to enforce volumes of manmade laws.
These laws tend to be hidden and self-serving to the corrupt groups
that put them in place.
"The real rulers in Washington are invisible and exercise power from
behind the scenes." - Felix Frankfurter, an attorney for the framers
of the Federal Reserve Act and a Supreme Court Justice.
Evil and corrupt hands have a firm grip on every facet of society and
one of their key grips is the media. In the U.S. the major media is
controlled by less than a dozen corporations where corrupt corporate
spin-doctors are richly rewarded for misleading the public through
their media outlets. When a group can control what people perceive to
be the facts, then the world is their oyster.
The spin of: CNN, CBS, ABC, NBC, The New York Times etc. and the
opinions of society at large are how the vast majority of America
derives its way of thinking. We watch very distinguished appearing
and learned sounding media newsmen like Bernard Shaw, Ted Koppel and
MacNeil & Lehrer and most of America believes that the reporting just
doesn't get any more real and thorough.
Asked to give a toast before the prestigious New York Press Club in
1953, John Swinton, the former Chief of Staff at the New York Times,
made this candid confession [it's worth noting that other newsmen,
who admired him greatly, called Swinton "The Dean of His
Profession"]:
"There is no such thing, at this date of the world's history, as an
independent press. You know it and I know it. There is not one of you
who dare to write your honest opinions, and if you did, you know
beforehand that it would never appear in print. I am paid weekly for
keeping my honest opinions out of the paper I am connected with.
Others of you are paid similar salaries for similar things, and any
of you who would be so foolish as to write honest opinions would be
out on the streets looking for another job.
If I allowed my honest opinions to appear in one issue of my paper,
before twenty-four hours my occupation would be gone. The business of
the journalist is to DESTROY the TRUTH; to lie outright; to pervert;
to vilify; to fawn at the feet of mammon, and to sell the country for
his daily bread. You know it and I know it and what folly is this
toasting an independent press. We are the tools and vassals of the
rich men behind the scenes. We are the jumping jacks, they pull the
strings and we dance. Our talents, our possibilities and our lives
are all the property of other men. We are intellectual PROSTITUTES."
As the sayings go "like father like son" or "where there's smoke
there's fire". George Bush, Sr. deserves mention as well. Here is
another bizarre and outlandish statement.
George Bush, Sr. is the largest trafficker of illegal drugs in North
America and possibly the entire globe.
Let's start out with a little logic. People need to question the "War
on Drugs". If America had ever truly waged a war on drugs the war
could have been finished within the course of several years or even
much less. After all isn't America "the most powerful nation on
Earth"? What's the motive for drug trafficking? Two major functions
are; first a facility to weaken society with the burden of drug
addiction to gain increasing control (a weaker society is much easier
to manipulate) and the second is money. Money to buy support and to
finance separate agendas. Morals have a way of disappearing fast when
large sums of money are made available to individuals, corporations
and foreign governments.
A major metropolitan paper ran a story about the number of drug
addicts in that city and the amount of drugs they consume. Some of
the addicts buy drugs with money they earn but many need to steal
cash and or property to sell in order to support their habits. As an
example if an addict has a $100/day habit, the addict might need to
steel $1000/day in property to raise $100. The total collateral theft
citywide is in the billions of dollars annually.
In response to the rising crime from drug related activity the
populous cries out – "help protect us - give us more police"! More
police arrive on the scene and the situation can arise where some
police have an interest in keeping the drug trade going. No drugs,
equals no job and no possible collusion.
Cathy O`Brien grew up in a multi-generation incest-abused family. As
a child Cathy's father and uncle produced bestiality films featuring
her and the family dog. Federal authorities apprehended her father
and uncle in the distribution process of these films, to escape
prosecution they were offered the opportunity to enter Cathy into a
CIA sponsored program called MK-Ultra or Monarch programming. Monarch
programming is trauma induced (primarily electroshock) mind control
(enslavement), the best subjects are multi-generation incest-abused
children. For nearly twenty years Cathy was enslaved in a mind-
controlled state where she served in covert operations, drug hauling
and appeasing the perverse sexual pleasures of her notable handlers
(persons trained to trigger and utilize her mind-controlled
programming).
Her first handler of notability, from her home state of Michigan was
then U.S. Representative Gerald Ford, later to become U.S. President.
Cathy went on to be a "Presidential Model" serving, Ronald Reagan and
then George Bush, Sr. In 1988 Cathy was rescued from her handlers and
taken to the serenity of Alaska where with help she was able to
regain the independent use of her mind. She wrote a book
titled "TRANCE-Formation of America". Cathy names many notable names
in politics, religion, sports and entertainment as participants in
government sponsored corruption focusing on drug trafficking. Here

mass population is being molded, shaped and manipulated. The events
of 9/11 are a very small but very tragic part of the big picture. The
mainstream news sources noted previously will never show us the big
picture, they might obtain and show us a very small piece of it but

It must be noted that this writer is in no way anti-government, to
the contrary, this writer is extremely pro-government and maintains a
strong conviction that a government based on the Constitution is
vital for an upright society to flourish. This writer is anti-
corruption!
In the Old Testament of the Bible, the book of Proverbs says, "get
wisdom (applied knowledge) and understanding". These valuable
resources put up a shield against the lies aimed at God and all
upright people.
Sun Tsu (dominant 4th century BC Chinese general) in "The Art of War"

Palestinians (and Arabs) are Semites Too

A few weeks ago, a prominent U.S. congressman lambasted the Egyptian press for running stories filled with ‘anti-semetic’ rhetoric. That was followed by a prominent law professor ridiculing an Al Jazeera spokesperson with accusations that the only independent Arab news outlet is ‘anti-semitic’ because its coverage is critical of Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories. Almost overnight, the term Arab and anti-semite became interminably linked.
This would have been comedy a la Buster Keaton (or Jerry Springer) had it not been so tragically malevolent. Beaming into hundreds of millions of homes is the message that Arabs are anti-semitic and therefore racist zealots who are automatically prejudiced against the semitism of Jews and Israel. What is ominously missing is the little factoid that (surprise, surprise!) Arabs are semites with as equal a merit to the title as Jews and Israelis. What is more disturbing, however, is the other interesting factoid that the congressman and law professor were themselves of Jewish heritage, and therefore the most likely to understand that Arabs cannot be anti-semitic because they themselves are semitic. This begs the question: why are they calling Arab semites anti-semitic?
History lesson number one: According to the 2001 Macmillan Encyclopedia, Semites are "A group of peoples, including the Jews and Arabs, said in the Bible to be descended from Shem, Noah's eldest son. The Babylonians, Assyrians, Canaanites, and Phoenicians were ancient Semitic peoples."
The Catholic Encyclopedia offers a similar definition: "The Semitic peoples are divided into four chief Babylonian-Assyrian Semites (East Semites), Chanaanitic Semites, (West Semites), Aramaic Semites (North Semites), and Arabian Semites (South Semites). The most powerful branch of the Semitic group of peoples, are indigenous to Central and Northern Arabia, where even to-day the original character is most purely preserved."
Languages of the semites, according to both encylopedias, include Sumerian cuneiform (the first recorded writing), Canaanite, Aramaic, Hebrew, Arabic, Maltese, and Amharic, a language of Eritrea.
Based on the above definitions, there are some 22 million Jewish Semites and 270 million Arab, Maltese and Ethiopian Semites in the world today.
History lesson number two: According to the Medieval Sourcebook, anti-semitism can be traced back to the 16th century when the myth of Anderl Von Rinn, a Christian allegedly killed by Jews, spread throughout Europe. In his book, Triumph Cron Marter Vnd Grabschrift des Heilig Unschuldigen Kindts (1619), Dr. Hippolyt Guarinoni (1571-1654) wrote of a "a boy [allegedly] put to death by Jews out of hatred for Christ at Rinn near Innsbruck, Austria." The story is thought to be inspired by the Cult of Little St. Hugh of Lincoln, England, whose body was found in a well in 1255, and the death ascribed to Jews. Noted playwright of The Canterbury Tales, Geoffrey Chaucer wrote in A Prioress’ Tale:
O you young Hugh of Lincoln, slain also By cursed Jews, as is well known to all, Since it was but a little while ago, Pray you for us, sinful and weak, who call, That, of His mercy, God will still let fall Something of grace, and mercy multiply, For reverence of His Mother dear on high. Amen.
Hatred for Jews in Europe had been enlfamed by the Crusades a few centuries earlier. Joel Carmichael, noted scholar of Russian history believes that anti-Semitism took on fanatical hysterics with the advent of Christianity and the early Crusades where Jews were seen as inhumanly evil and satanically entranced. The Crusaders depicted the Jews as "demonic murderers of God". This was taught extensively to young Christian children and nurtured a hatred of all things Jewish. (The Satanizing of the Jews : Origin and Development of Mystical Anti-Semitism, Joel Carmichael 1992).
However, it was not until the late 19th century that this bigotry against Jews reached reach militant levels. This can perhaps be attributed to the influence of the science of eugenics and the growing popularity of social Darwinism. Darwin’s evolutionary theories and the notion of "survival of the fittest" fueled the Germanic people to view themselves as superior Aryans, the infamous lexicon of history. With this feeling now paramount in German social development, a group of people had to be termed inferior. Unfortunately, it was the Jews who were now seen as inferior and harassment and persecution gave rise. The actual term of "anti-semitism" came about in 1879 when German writer Wilhelm Marrih sought a scientific term to explain and legitimize the hatred Jews were now facing.
So popular was anti-semitism that Nazi leader Adolf Hitler would later expound himself as a proud anti-semite. "Gradually I began to hate them. For me this was the time of the greatest spiritual upheaval I have ever gone through. I have ceased to be a weak-kneed cosmopolitan and have become an anti-Semite" (Adoph Hitler’s Mein Kampf).
Armed with the knowledge that anti-semitism is a European manifestation, and that the term Semite refers to Arabs and not only Jews, the question begs itself: why would two policy-makers (among many others) publicly accuse Arabs of anti-semitism?
The answer is no real mystery, but does present itself in several mathematical stages in lieu of the Arab-Israeli conflict:
Arabs are highly critical of Israeli policies towards Palestine, the Golan Heights and south Lebanon. Any criticism of Israeli policies, including the internationally condemned occupation of Palestinian territories, is termed anti-semitic. When the term ‘anti-semitic’ is used, it automatically invokes images of Hitler, Nazi Germany, the Holocaust, Auschwitz, Kristallnacht and the suffering of European Jews 60 years ago. Alleged Arab anti-semitism will now be seen in light of European anti-semitism and an automatic correlation will be made between the Arab-Israeli conflict and the Nazi persecution and murder of Jews. Alleged Arab anti-semitism will now be associated with racist bigotry (anti-Jewishness) and the crux of the matter, political criticism of Israeli policies will be institutionally shelved. Arabs will now be referred to as those calling for the extermination of all Jews in much the same way the Nazis did with the ‘Final Solution’. Citing criticism of Israeli policies as anti-semitic hatred is tantamount to a pyschological hijacking manifested by communal guilt. Literary and philological terrorism, if you will.
The term anti-semite has become so loathe that in April of 2001, Denver, Colorado Judge Edward Nottingham awarded $10 million to a couple who were accused of being ‘Anti-Semites’ by the Anti-Defamation League.
"Based on its position and history as a well-respected civil-rights institution, it is not unreasonable to infer that public charges of anti-Semitism leveled by the ADL will be taken seriously and assumed by many to be true without question," the judge wrote in a 46-page order and memorandum of decision. "In that respect, the ADL is in a unique position of being able to cause substantial harm to individuals when it lends its backing to allegations of anti-Semitism."
Opposition to the loose anti-semitic branding may be catching: "Let's choose our words more carefully, like calling violence or discrimination against Jews, "anti-Jewish," acknowledging that our Arab brothers and sisters are Semities too. May the cross-cultural exchanges continue and grow" (JULIE CHASEN, Jewish Bulletin).

WHICH TERRORISTS ARE WORSE? AL QAEDA? OR THE KLA? by Jared Israel [Posted 12 December 2001] Slobodan Milosevic, the kidnapped former President of Yugoslavia, appeared before The Hague 'Tribunal' yesterday. (1)
"Asked how he pleaded to the charges, guilty or not guilty, Mr. Milosevic reacted like his old defiant self and said: 'This miserable text is the ultimate absurdity. I should be given credit for peace in Bosnia, not war.' Responsibility for the Bosnian war, he went on, 'lies with the Western powers that broke up Yugoslavia and their Yugoslav agents.' Because he failed to respond with a plea, the court entered a plea of not guilty... (1)
"The charges against him in Kosovo, he said, 'will inevitably open up the issue of the Clinton administration's cooperation with the terrorists in Kosovo, including the bin Laden organization.' He was referring to ethnic Albanian rebels of the Kosovo Liberation Army who, he contends, attacked Serbian forces with help from foreign Islamic militants." ('N.Y. Times,' 12/12/01 * Note: the 'Times' uses the term Islamic, meaning Muslim, when it should use 'Islamist,' meaning Muslim clerical-fascists.)
The charge for which Milosevic has been tried and convicted in the Western press is that he suppressed a popular movement using brutal methods. (2)
But what if they lied to us about Kosovo and Milosevic, just as they lied to us about the bombing of the Red Cross, or that bin Laden was fighting the CIA throughout the 1990s? What if in fact Yugoslavia used relatively humane methods to fight the U.S.-supported secessionists in Kosovo - which by the way is the oldest part of Serbia. What if this contrasts favorably with the tactics employed by the U.S. in Afghanistan - which is not part of the U.S.A.? (3)
What if the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) is a terrorist organization, created by the USA and Germany, trained by U.S. and British covert forces, installed in power in Kosovo as a proxy force for NATO?
What if hundreds of thousands of Serbs, 'Gypsies,' Slavic Muslims, Turks, non-fascist Albanians and Jews have been driven from the province by the KLA - with NATO's apparent approval? (4)
These are the issues Milosevic promises to expose.
We have posted evidence of the KLA's ties to Osama bin Laden's terrorists. (5)
New evidence emerged today. We are informed that an Australian, captured in Afghanistan, had previously fought for the KLA, then went for training with al Qaeda in Pakistan, and ended up a Taliban soldier. (http://au.news.yahoo.com/011212/2/1onh.html )
But the KLA is terrorist regardless of its links to al Qaeda. The evidence is overwhelming. Consider, for example, the case of Mr. Ramush Haradinaj.
According to a December 4th BBC report, Mr. Haradinaj, who leads the so-called Democratic League of Kosova (sic!) or LDK, has been meeting with leaders of the Alliance for the Future of Kosova (also sic!) to plan a 'broad based' government in the province. (Why did I put 'sic!' after 'Kosova'? See footnote 6 )
Who is Ramush Haradinaj.
"COOK HELD TALKS WITH WAR CRIME SUSPECT"

THE 'ethical dimension' of Robin Cook's foreign policy has come under renewed attack after it emerged that a Kosovo Albanian leader whom the foreign secretary met last week may be linked with war crimes.
"On his return from Kosovo, Cook promised that 'a principled defence of democracy and human rights' would remain a cornerstone of his foreign policy should he retain his portfolio after the general election.
"However, Francis Maude, the shadow foreign secretary, accused him of "encouraging a culture of impunity" by holding talks with Ramush Haradinaj, 32, a former nightclub bouncer and guerrilla commander suspected by United Nations officials of possible involvement in the murder of civilians, and of helping to run smuggling rackets across the province.
"A French official said last week he was amazed that Haradinaj, leader of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, had been invited to the British residence in Pristina, the capital, during Cook's visit...Haradinaj could face charges over what may be the biggest atrocity carried out by the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA). Forty civilians were killed during several months in 1998 in the village of Glodjane in western Kosovo, where Haradinaj was then the KLA commander. Many of the bodies - of Serbs, Albanians and gypsies - bore marks of torture.
"Moderate Albanians in the Democratic League of Kosovo have implicated Haradinaj in the murders of civilians suspected of collaborating with Serbian forces. But Haradinaj has dismissed accusations of war crimes and treats talk of indictment at The Hague as 'propaganda by political opponents.'
"...In common with other senior KLA commanders, he was equipped with a satellite phone during Nato airstrikes in 1999, helping the alliance to pinpoint targets.
"...When the KLA emerged, he... established himself as commander of the western Decane region, basing himself in Glodjane, one of his clan's strongholds.
"When the UN took charge of the province's administration, he became second-in-command of the Kosovo Protection Corps, the KLA's peacetime incarnation...
"Diplomats in Pristina said Haradinaj entered politics last year at the behest of Britain and America, which wanted to see the KLA's support base split. 'He said it was too early for independence,' said a European official introduced to Haradinaj. 'He was coached to say what was needed.' Last April Haradinaj made a fundraising trip to Washington..." A few quick points about this article:
First, note that the 'Times' quotes nameless "Diplomats" saying "Britain and American wanted to see the KLA's support base split;" thus the 'Times" attempt to prettify the ugly facts: that the U.S. and British governments coached this war criminal and funded him, thus thrusting him into politics, instead of jail.
Second, note that Mr. Haradinaj helps lead the Kosovo Protection Corps (KPC) . This group was set up by the UN mission in Kosovo, at Washington's behest. It is composed of former KLA terrorists. Here's how a special UN report described the KPC:
"Murder, torture and extortion: these are the extraordinary charges made against the UN's own Kosovo Protection Corps in a confidential United Nations report written for Secretary-General Kofi Annan.
"The KPC stands accused in the document, drawn up on 29 February, of 'criminal activities - killings, ill-treatment/torture, illegal policing, abuse of authority, intimidation, breaches of political neutrality and hate-speech'." Corps members, paid by NATO, have comprised most of the terrorists fighting to destroy Macedonia. (7)
Here's more about Ramush Haradinaj. (Note that some newspaper articles spell his name 'Hajredinaj').
On December 14, 1998, six children were murdered when a masked gunman sprayed bullets into the Panda Cafe in the Kosovo city of Pec. This crime was so horrific, even US Balkans envoy Richard Holbrooke denounced it.
'"Because of its cruelty and its cowardice, this crime stands above all crimes,' said Mirko Simonovic, principal of the slain teenagers' school." ('Agence France Presse,' 16 December 1998)
The KLA was responsible. But what part of the KLA?
"...His [Ramush Haradinaj's] men already are suspected of carrying out the Panda Cafe murders, when masked rebels opened fire in December on a restaurant the city of Pec, killing six Serbian youths. His men also are suspected of shooting at U.S. diplomatic monitors..." ('AP,' 8 March 1999)
As mentioned earlier, Haradinaj was implicated in the slaughter of civilians in the town of Glodjane. These civilians included:
"...Serbian farmers, some gypsies and Albanians suspected of being collaborators."('Sunday Times', (London) 3 September 2000)
How could Ramush Haradinaj be sure that an Albanian or a 'Gypsy' was a 'collaborator'? One way was if he or she refused to support the secessionist-organized boycott of Public schools (taught in the Albanian language!) Another sure clue was that he or she worked for the government, as a forester for example. (8)
When Washington officials met with Haradinaj to discuss funding his political campaign last year, they were of course violating Yugoslav sovereignty. Aside from that, is it possible that they didn't know who he was and what he stood for?
"'Washington knows what we want,' he [Ramush Haradinaj] added with a smile. 'We've been clear from the very beginning.'" (Kosovo Rebels Won't Give Up Guns By ANNE THOMPSON, 'Associated Press,' 8 March 1999)
Haradinaj has been competing with another ex-KLA thug, Hashim Thaci, also been transformed into a proper politician. Thaci's group is called the Democratic Party of Kosova (sic!) or PKK. Isn't it nice that both these terrorists have the word 'democratic' in their party names? (6)
Thaci and Haradinaj have been fighting over who gets the graft in impoverished Kosovo - for example, over the "control of certain petrol stations." (See 'Daily Telegraph', June 12, 2000)
The 'Telegraph' does not come right out and say these men are gangsters. But 'Jane's Defense Review' does:
"[Thaci's] PDK has good links with Albanian exile groups in America, Switzerland and Germany, although the bulk of Thaci's funding is now believed to come from racketeering and other crime-generated sources." ('Jane's Intelligence Review' September 1, 2000)
Note that 'Jane's Defense' calls the money that Thaci gets from racketeering 'funding,' as if he had applied for a grant for a community orchestra or a home for unwed mothers.
Apparently gangsterism is now routine in Kosovo.
Washington gave Hashim Thaci a bigger reception than his competitor, Haradinaj.
Here's how 'Voice of America' described Thaci's U.S. tour last year:
"Hashim Thaci, who leads the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK)... spoke at a press conference at UN headquarters. He is concluding a trip to the United States, during which he met with U.S. State Department and congressional officials. He also attended the convention in Los Angeles last week at which the U.S. Democratic Party chose Vice President Al Gore to be its candidate for president.
"In response to questions, Thaci repeatedly said he saw democracy progressing in Kosovo. He said local elections would help provide a basis for general elections in the province and contribute to what he called the democratization of the Balkans.
"Thaci pointed to democratic changes in Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, and Macedonia and said he believed pro-democracy forces would eventually win out in Montenegro. He also said he considered the general elections planned for Yugoslavia next month as "elections in a neighboring country." (From 'Radio Free Europe,' 22 August 2000)
Thaci's tour was barely mentioned in the US press. But 'Voice of America' (VOA) broadcast the story far and wide in the Balkans; thus VOA made it perfectly clear that the US government was behind this terrorist.
Thaci became a KLA media star during the so-called peace negotiations at Rambouillet in the winter of 1999. Before that he was the main KLA leader in the Kosovo town of Klecka, which had been seized by the KLA. When Yugoslav forces liberated town in August, 1998, they made some gruesome discoveries.
[Start Quote] "Captured KLA Men Say Serbs Were Executed
"Klecka, Yugoslavia
"...Police escorted journalists into the area on Friday after three days of fierce fighting to dislodge its KLA defenders. [Note the use of the word defenders to describe the KLA terrorists.]
"Reporters for Western media said two captured KLA men showed them a spot in Klecka where 10 Serbs-- including three women and two children - were shot by a KLA firing squad.
"Pristina country court investigating magistrate Danica Marinkovic said four burned bodies found in the village were believed to be those of victims of the shootings. There was no trace of the other corpses." ('Reuters' 28 August 1998) [End Quote]
And:
[Start Quote] "Domestic and foreign reporters, residing in Pristina, were allowed to follow questioning of a witness, at the site of the crime. The arrested Bekim Mazreku was answering to questions of Ms. Danica Marinkovic, an investigation officer. In presence of police, translator and the journalists, Mr. Murzeku said the following:
"Mr. Bekim Mazreku: We executed ten here. Two were children, three women, two young boys and three men."
"Ms. Marinkovic: Could you tell us the age of the children?
Mr. Bekim Mazreku: From seven or eight to eleven.
"Ms. Marinkovic: "And women?"
"Mr. Bekim Mazreku: From 28 to 32.
"Ms. Marinkovic: Who was executing them?
"Mr. Bekim Mazreku: The Kosovo Liberation Army.
"Twenty one year old Mr. Bekim Mazreku was then returned to jail. Journalists were then shown the fence and trees where the execution bullets landed. Also we saw the mentioned pit with chlorine as well as few semi-burned skulls and numerous bones belonging to victims of this crime. The police have also shown to us photographs of a dead man with head chopped off and mutilated body. The police told us that the photographs were found in a basement of a house in Klecka.
"The village of Klecka has a dozen of houses on few acres of land. It had been turned into a military camp by KLA." [End Quote] (From 'Radio B92,' 29 August 1998. You should know that in the fall of 1998, 'Radio B92' was fiercely anti-government. It was funded by Western government sources. We who labor to expose media lies about Yugoslavia have argued that the KLA's links to al Qaeda prove the KLA is a terrorist group.
Maybe we've got it wrong. Maybe we ought to be arguing that the KLA's links to al Quaida prove al Quaida is a terrorist group.

You knew this was coming. Could there have been a more obvious pick than Osama Bin Laden as The Konformist Beast of the Month?
Hell, who even needs the "Bin Laden" part? The man is of such infamous celebrity he is now known by one name: he is simply Osama. (Or perhaps it is "Usama".) In any case, thanks to Osama, "president" Shrub has been given some breathing room to cover for his destructive reign, and allowed people to have an object of hate to justify the brutal Afghan bombing campaign: for these reasons alone he deserves the prize.
It seems like only yesterday when Konformist editor Robert Sterling appeared on the Jeff Rense radio show (it was actually August 17, 1998 for those keeping score) during which he discussed the African Embassy Bombings and predicted Osama was going to be the next officially sanctioned bogeyman. (Okay, so Robalini mangled his last name, but give him credit as an oracle.) Osama soon after received a share of the BOTM prize in September 1998 for his role as scapegoat in the Peckergate Scandal. But rather than rest on such a minor achievement, Osama has lived up to the hype, and now has become the first great bogeyman of the 21st century. Not since Adolph Hitler - or at least since O.J. Simpson - has one man been as much focus of hatred in the Western world.
Of course, to call him a bogeyman isn't to trivialize what he has done. Or at least what he has been alleged to do on September 11, 2001. As of the start of November, no definite evidence has been released linking him to the 911 attacks - despite the claims of Shrub and Tony Blair that he is most certainly guilty, they just can't show the rest of us all the evidence, but hey, trust them on this. Blair himself opened his speech of "proof" on Bin Laden's involvement in the WTC attack by stating, "This document does not purport to provide a prosecutable case against Osama bin Laden in a court of law." For the record, Osama has denied involvement in the WTC-Pentagon attacks, saying it is against the Koran to target innocent civilians.
(Then again, even with his denials, Osama - in a rambling, mouth- foaming speech aired on Al Jazeera - showed a cruel lack of pity for the WTC victims. Gee, Osama, we don't expect you to chant "USA!" during the 2002 Olympics, but you could at least feign some concern if you want sympathy from Americans for your fatwah.)
Still, until September 11, the record of Osama and Al Qaeda (meaning "the base," the term coined for his organization) appears to be pretty consistent to his claim. With the possible exception of the attack on the African Embassies - which hasn't been conclusively linked to Osama and is matched by the intentional American bombing of the Chinese embassy in Belgrade - all his targets have appeared to be legitimate in a declared war. Osama is certainly a "terrorist," but that just means he uses terror as a weapon, which means he has a lot of company with the term.
The questions and conspiracies surrounding 911 are a whole other (and much larger) story, and the dust has yet to clear. But the potential of using Afghanistan as pipeline point for the immense oil reserves in the Caspian Sea leads to numerous possibilities of bigger powers (the UK, China, Russia, and, most creepily of all, the US itself) manufacturing a major crisis in the region and using bin Laden as the easy scapegoat. As for bin Laden's many alleged misdeeds before 911, it is interesting to note the one he freely cops to is helping General Aidid and Somalia against the US-UN "peacekeeping" mission. Is it possible that Osama is a phantom menace? Before you answer that, think how much Western nations would fear having an Arab revolutionary's face plastered on millions of US t-shirts like Che Guevara.
Which isn't to say that Bin Laden is a blushing innocent. His association with the intolerant and repressive Taliban regime is bad testimony for what he stands for. While the official leader of the Taliban is Mullah Mohammad Omar, Bin Laden, who is reputed by some mainstream sources to be head of the Afghan military, overshadows him both in wealth and prestige. This may be an act of "doing business with who you can do business with," but a man who can influence a nation's leaders to face mass bombings from the Pentagon should be powerful enough to use his political capital for a more benevolent domestic policy.
The Taliban isn't the beginning of Osama's nasty links. The Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA), the thuggish terrorist and drug-dealing organization backed in 1998 by Klinton and the United States against Slobodan Milosevic, has extensive ties to Osama and his Al Qaeda organization. Meanwhile, Osama's second-in-command (Dr. Ayman al- Zawahiri) and military planner (Muhammad Atef) in Al Qaeda are Egyptians who have a notorious history in their own right, with noted involvement in the Egyptian Islamic Jihad, the group behind the 1981 assassination of Anwar Sadat. (Al-Zawahiri was one of over 300 people arrested for the crime, and served three-plus years in connection to it.) And Osama's alleged involvement in the assassination of legendary Afghan guerrilla leader Ahmad Shah Masood two days before September 11 (which fits his admitted modus operandi) is an indication of how he can play hardball.
Then there's the most curious link of all to Bin Laden: that of the Central Intelligence Agency. During the Soviet-Afghanistan War, Bin Laden, like many fighters in the cause for Afghan liberation, had extensive ties with the CIA. Because of his previous ties to the CIA, as well as his noted links to the US-backed KLA, some (most notably Jared Israel through his website Emperor's Clothes) have argued that Bin Laden is still a CIA man, an agent provocateur in the Middle East. Provocateur or not, Mr. Israel notes:
Bin Laden mixes Islamist fanaticism and callous glee over the suffering of Americans, on the one hand, with valid criticisms of the U.S. government, on the other. Among the valid statements: he accuses the US of being responsible for the deaths of a million Iraqi children through its insistence on imposing horrific economic sanctions on Iraq. This is a very extreme charge, of course, but it also happens to be true, as admitted by one of the responsible parties, former Secretary of State, Madeline Albright... Since bin Laden utters vicious, Islamist ravings and equates ordinary Americans with the U.S. government, on the one hand, but mixes this with valid criticisms, on the other, his video creates an atmosphere of hostility towards views critical of U.S. foreign policy because now, in addition to challenging the propaganda apparatus of the U.S. government and its supporting media, we bear the burden of "sounding like bin Laden," whom we happen to loathe.
While Mr. Israel brings up some very suspicious facts, there is one big problem with the provocateur theory (with all due respect to Emperor's Clothes excellent work.) Bin Laden, after all, comes from a wealthy Saudi Arabian family. If he wanted to, he could be sipping pina coladas and living a playboy's life right now. Instead, he's hiding in caves while the world's most powerful army drops bombs in the hopes of killing him. Where is the upside to what he's doing?
This leads The Konformist to another conclusion: that Osama (while being pragmatic enough to work with Great Satan when convenient) truly is passionate and sincere about his battle, so much so that he has rejected what could have been a pampered lifestyle for one of strife and battle.
Such a choice is quite admirable. Indeed, contrary to how the propaganda battle is distorting the facts, there is much to admire about the man. Far from being the coward that Shrub has alleged him to be - an amusing charge considering the source - Osama was particularly noted for his bravery on the field of battle against the slaughtering Soviets. He is also a man known for a polite, humble and friendly demeanor in person, and is noted for his charity in much of the Middle East.
Thanks to his virtues, he has swiftly become a top hero to many in the Middle East just as he has become the top villain in the West, and as terrible as the effects of the 911 attacks are, this is not merely an embrace of pure evil, no more than the mass admiration of Harry Truman in the US despite - or perhaps because of - Hiroshima and Nagasaki. To many in the masses of the Arab world, Osama represents defiance and rebellion against a corrupt and oppressive world dominated by Western greed and thievery. Any analysis of the cult of Osama that fails to acknowledge this is endorsing a comic book version of events wallowing in self-delusion. (A comic book story matched by descriptions of Bin Laden that make him out to be some omnipotent criminal mastermind, a la Lex Luthor.)
Which makes what has happened all the sadder. Whatever enemy Osama is (and, 911 or no 911, Bin Laden certainly is an enemy of the US by his own admission) he is a tragic one. If Osama is a monster, then US foreign policy is his Dr. Frankenstein. If the United States had not chosen to place a huge military base on revered soil in Saudi Arabia, and then used the base to lead such a bloody massacre of Muslims in Iraq, it is improbable that Bin Laden ever would have become as outraged as he has.
Will the real Osama stand up? Is he "THE EVIL ONE" that Shrub and co. has dubbed him to be, or is he the heroic freedom fighter of the Middle East that his admirers see? It appears that he is much of both at the same time.
How will this all end? At this point, anything, including nuclear or biological warfare started by either side, seems a plausible ending. Bin Laden may be a tragic enemy, but he is a ruthless one.
Whatever the case, he potentially has started a movement that Mo Kadaffi failed miserably at: a Pan-Arab union. Even more frightening to both leaders of the West AND the Middle East, he has done this by appealing straight to the people as a symbol of unified rebellion. For once, the bogeyman that the Western establishment has created and promoted is someone they personally have every reason to be scared about.
In any case, we salute Osama Bin Laden as Beast of the Month. Congratulations, and keep up the great work, Osama!!!
Note: On November 14-15, Muhammad Atef was killed in a US bombing raid.
In mid-December, the Pentagon released a tape that they claimed provided undeniable proof of Osama boasting his guilt. Of course, the Bin Laden shown was of far more girth than that of the gaunt man in the Al Jazeera tapes presented in October and late December, indicating the tape - if it is of Osama - is much older than September 11th with audio dubbed in to put words in his mouth (the audio is of poor-quality, which makes it difficult to confirm or deny if it really is Osama's voice.)
As of January 1, 2002, no evidence has yet to be presented linking Bin Laden to the 911 attacks.

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Brash, outspoken, indefatigable Mayor Rudolph
Giuliani (news - web sites), whose composure and compassion rallied
New York and the nation after the Sept. 11 attacks, was named Time
Magazine's Person of the Year on Sunday.
``This was about Sept. 11 and about how in the immediate aftermath of
the attacks in those crucial hours, one person took emotional charge
in a way that was extraordinary,'' Time Managing Editor Jim Kelly
told Reuters.
``He led by emotion, not just by words and actions, and in an
emotional year like this one, he deserved to be person of the year,''
Kelly said.
Giuliani, who is in the final days of his eight years as mayor of the
United States' largest city, is Time Magazine's 76th Person of the
Year. ``The person who most affected the news or our lives, for good
or for ill, this year,'' said Time founder Henry Luce when he
instituted in 1925 what has now become a national talking point each
year.
President Bush (news - web sites), Time's 75th Person of the Year,
made it to the short list again, along with America's most wanted
man, Osama Bin Laden.
``This was an active decision about picking Giuliani, and not a
decision about not picking Bush,'' Kelly said.
``Giuliani managed to touch us emotionally in a way that nobody else
did, including the president,'' he said.
As for bin Laden, the Saudi-born dissident accused by the United
States of planning the Sept. 11 attacks that killed more than 3,000
people in New York, Washington and Pennsylvania, Time said he ``is
too small a man to get the credit for all that has happened in
America in the autumn of 2001.''
``He's a moral pipsqueak,'' Kelly said.
He said after that viewing the videotape released last week showing
bin Laden pleased that the Sept. 11 attacks succeeded beyond his
expectations, bin Laden was not a figure with broad enough historical
sweep to name as person of the year.
``We are dealing here with, yes, an evil man, but not a man who
deserves to stride the world stage like a Stalin and a Hitler, or
even a Khomeini,'' Kelly said. Soviet leader Josef Stalin was Time's
Person of the Year in 1939 and 1942, German dictator Adolph Hitler in
1938, and Iranian leader Ayatollah Khomeini in 1979.
Kelly said that Time, which along with other publications has seen
declining advertising revenues, was not concerned about a backlash
against the weekly news magazine if it had chosen bin Laden.
``If we had picked him, we would have argued the case well enough to
show that we didn't try to make him a hero,'' Kelly said.
Instead, he said, they chose Giuliani ``because of his courage on
Sept. 11 and afterwards, because a very human man showed superhuman
strengths at a time when the entire country was being tested.''
Already credited with making New York City livable again after years
of crime and neglect, Giuliani has become an international symbol of
courage and leadership since Sept. 11.
From the first moments after two hijacked planes slammed into the
World Trade Center's twin towers, demolishing them, Giuliani has been
ubiquitous: racing to the scene of the destruction and nearly getting
buried when the towers collapsed; calmly giving news conference after
news conference; leading a succession of world leaders to ``ground
zero'' to help solidify the international coalition against bin Laden
and his al Qaeda organization; and attending more than 200 funerals
and wakes of those who died in the attacks.
``For being brave when required and rude when appropriate and tender
without being trite, for not sleeping and not quitting and not
shrinking from the pain all around him, Rudy Giuliani, Mayor of the
World, is Time's Person of the Year,'' wrote Time reporter Nancy
Gibbs in the issue that hits newsstands Monday.
Giuliani, who pulled out of the Senate race last year to battle
prostate cancer, finishes his second four-year term as mayor on Dec.
31. He has said he plans to open a private consulting firm.
Billionaire entrepreneur Michael Bloomberg will take office on Jan.
1. Many New Yorkers have said they are uncertain how New York, its
economy wounded by the Sept. 11 attacks, will fare without Giuliani
at the helm.

Dear Editor,
Mayor Giuliani has received an avalanche of praise and credit post
9/11, yet eight years of media reports and articles published in your
own and every other NYC paper seem to refute all of the claims now
being made for his "greatness". What are your readers to make of the
conflict between your previous eight years of Giuliani coverage and
the recent stories and tributes?
Did Giuliani really curtail crime? As you have previously reported on
many occasions, the drop in crime he's credited with occurred nation-
wide (and even in Europe) and in NYC began years before Giuliani
became Mayor.
Is Giuliani a financial and budgetary expert who saved the City's
economy and who will now "turn around" troubled businesses as a high-
priced consultant? As you've reported, he's leaving the City with a 4
billion-dollar plus budget deficit, most of which is unrelated to
9/11. In his last few days in office after cutting funding for
health, schools, hospitals, libraries and the aged he`s still
desperately trying to foist baseball stadiums on us to benefit two
billionaire friends who own the Mets and Yankees.
Did he really improve our Quality of Life? The schools, which impact
tremendously on the City's long-term future, are far worse than at
any time in modern history. Did he clean up the streets? Outside of
the Times Sq., Midtown and other areas patrolled and cleaned numerous
times a day by the Business Improvement Districts the streets are no
cleaner or safer than they were in 1993. Read the crime page of your
own paper and tell me there's no more crime in NYC.
While arresting thousands each month for public urination the City
you now claim Giuliani "civilized" still does not have a single
public pay toilet - something Giuliani promised for eight years and
spent millions doing studies on. If I'm not mistaken, ancient Rome
even had public toilets as do most "civilized" countries today.
Our infrastructure is a shambles, with crumbling schools, hospitals
and bridges. A drive down any New York street will find ours to be
the most potholed and damaged streets and sidewalks in the entire
U.S.
Does quality of life have anything to do with our health? Thousands
of New Yorkers have developed new health problems due to Giuliani's
unprecedented spraying of nerve gas-based pesticides invented in Nazi
Germany to fight a hyped up "mosquito epidemic". Violating the
instructions printed right on the canisters - which explicitly say
they are never to be used near people - Giuliani ordered them sprayed
directly on hundreds of thousands of men, women and children while
daily lying at his press conferences that they were "harmless". He
even bragged that he was directly sprayed eight times without getting
sick (until he came down with prostate cancer, a known effect of
pesticides exposure, shortly thereafter).
Was he a great supporter of the police, as compared to what he likes
to call, "cop bashers"? The cops and firemen he claims to love are
quitting in record numbers and blaming him for their meager salaries,
health problems, lack of proper equipment and low morale.
Is he really a great lawyer? The estimated financial liability from
lawsuits filed in response to his illegal policies is larger than the
economy of many countries. He`s lost virtually every lawsuit brought
against the City during his administration - 25 on the First
Amendment alone - and now more than 500 firemen are joining the list
of those suing the Mayor.
Did he really unite New Yorkers? Giuliani's overt hostility to
minorities and racial-profiling policies leaves the City more
racially divided than at any time since the 1960's. The consequences
of his eugenics-inspired Manhattan Institute welfare and homelessness
initiatives will be among the new Mayor's most hard-to-solve social
problems.
Apart from his false reputation for stopping crime, Giuliani is
falsely credited with instituting genuine welfare reform - but did
he? As reported many times in your paper his failed workfare program
was a thinly-veiled attempt to replace the City's hundreds of
thousands of unionized municipal workers with below minimum wage
workers with no health benefits or pensions. At the same time the
Mayor was forcing mothers with small children off welfare so that
they could experience "self sufficiency" and learn the "dignity
of
work" he was using our tax dollars to give billions in welfare to his
supporters in real estate, publishing and Wall Street. Among the many
needy folks he's helped are David Rockefeller, the owners of the NY
Stock Exchange and Donald Trump.
Is he really a "hero"? New Yorkers are famous for being able to take
just about anything in stride, which to his credit, even Giuliani
admits it is in our nature to do - completely without his help.
As far as his "heroic" response to the attack, at best Giuliani did
exactly what Mayor Dinkins, Mayor Koch or any other Mayor in the
world would have done by asking people not to panic and by attending
funerals and holding press conferences - if you can his muzzling of
reporters and refusal to answer any unapproved question a "press
conference". Short on information and shorter still on accurate
information, most of his "press conferences" were nothing more than
emotional tributes to himself, his friends and his aides.
As you've reported he doubled the number of WTC casualties,
repeatedly lied about the health risks to local residents, made
families of WTC victims wait months to get their first check, misled
small business owners into believing they`d be given immediate
financial aid, lied to the firemen about carefully recovering all of
the human remains no matter how long it took and ordered cameras
seized from anyone without his approval taking photos at the site. If
being a disaster site tour guide to movie stars and foreign
dignitaries bearing tributes to himself makes Giuliani a hero, then
the word has lost some of its traditional meaning.
Rather than a 9/11 "hero" Giuliani might eventually end up a 9/11
defendant. The fuel illegally stored in his completely useless 13
million dollar "bomb proof" bunker in direct violation of the NYC
fire code caused WTC7 to collapse. He repeatedly and knowingly
misinformed the residents of lower Manhattan and all of the rescue
workers about the health risks from exposure to the toxic fumes.
Since 9/11 he's been meticulously obstructing the government's
investigation into why the towers fell by destroying the steel beams
and other evidence before any of it can be examined.
The same reporters now penning article after article about him
being, "America's Mayor" and "Our Rudy" previously penned
article
after article about him violating the Constitution; maliciously
targeting minorities; having numerous financial connections to
racists and the far right; suppressing legitimate dissent; hiding the
true statistics about City government from elected officials, judges
and the media; committing serial adultery while speechifying
about "decency"; dictating artistic taste to museums and artists;
falsely arresting hundreds of thousands of people on trumped-up
charges and firing any of his own appointees who gained a level of
public recognition which in any way diminished his own imaginary
stature.
Giuliani certainly lucked out on 9/11. Aside from completely
obliterating the Twin Towers, the attack seems to have completely
obliterated eight years of documented failures, lies and
falsifications that constitute the real Giuliani Legacy. Such is the
confused time we live in that the City's cruelest, most dishonest and
hypocritical Mayor is being called its greatest.
When Time magazine named the Mayor "Person of the Year" they may have
been playing a bit of a linguistic prank. In Brooklyn where Giuliani
was born, "person" is often mispronounced "poison". Rudy

FBI Implicated in Anthrax Mailings Cover-up:
Mueller Reports No Intention to Investigate
Chief Suspect
Sandpoint, ID —FBI officials may be implicated in a conspiracy to impede justice in the anthrax mailings case, if not treasonous dereliction of duty, according to a growing number of scientists and consumer advocates. After officials cited the likeliest origin of the powdered anthrax was the U.S. Army’s Dugway Proving Grounds in Utah, or its Ohio-based supplier and CIA-contractor, Battelle Memorial Instititue (BMI), FBI Director Robert Mueller announced the bureau has no intention of investigating anyone with, or formerly with, their chief suspect—BMI.
Just weeks ago, major progress in the FBI’s investigation seemed forthcoming. The New York Times and Washington Post revealed that BMI, Dugway’s anthrax facility supplier and chief administrator had contracted with the CIA (in project “Clear Vision”) to produce, albeit illegally, the 1 trillion spore-per- gram strain of anthrax under investigation. BMI, while heading the U.S. military’s “Joint Vaccine Acquisitions Program” worth more than $1 billion in vaccine contracts, commissioned America’s top anthrax expert, William C. Patrick, III, to deliver a report on the powdered anthrax’s prospects for being spread through the mail.
Thus, by mid-December, the public, including health scientists urged to help federal officials identify suspects, realized that someone with high level security clearance, a “black-op budget,” access to the BMI/Dugway anthrax labs, and vaccine sales incentive, most likely took BMI’s powdered anthrax, and prepared it for mailing from Trenton, NJ; St. Petersburg, FL; Atlanta, GA; and Malaysia.
For the first time since the 1975 Frank Church congressional investigation of the CIA for illegally stockpiling anthrax and other biological weapons, the public learned that the CIA had been violating the international Geneva Accord moratorium on biological weapons development—a revelation somewhat embarrassing to American diplomats engaged in the global “War on Terrorism.”
The day before Christmas, an Op Ed piece in the Wall Street Journal additionally implicated BMI, and potentially the FBI, along with rogue elements within the CIA, in an international conspiracy to commit and cover-up the anthrax mailings crime. BMI and Bioport, a Michigan-based offshoot of Britain’s leading biological weapons organization at Porton Down, were previously reported to be collaborating on the manufacture and supply of America’s only anthrax vaccine. Dr. Robert C. Myers, Chief Operating Officer of BioPort, told a Senate Appropriations Committee in 1996 that he “was part of a team of organizations, led by Battelle Memorial Institute . . . ” The Journal writer Edward Jay Epstein cited the testimony of U.S. Army bioweapons official David Franz concerning America’s reliance on British intelligence provided by Porton Down officials regarding the development and use of the powdered Ames strain of anthrax. Thus, the FBI’s disregard of foreign suspects, especially Porton Down, with direct links to Bioport and BMI’s anthrax vaccine, vaccine contracts, and BMI’s and Dugway’s anthrax experiments, was criticized by Epstein as it was days earlier in the Washington Post.
More evidence of the FBI’s intentional ineptitude came from the Columbus Dispatch. Though the Washington Post reported that the FBI was allegedly pursuing the possibility that financial gain was the motive behind the anthrax mailings, and that “two laboratories” were especially implicated, that is, BMI and Dugway, a contradictory announcement was relayed the same day (Dec. 21, 2001) by Ohio Senator Mike DeWine. Based on an ABC News report concerning a BMI employee who had been under FBI investigation for an anthrax threat, FBI Director Robert Mueller had, according to The Dispatch, assured Senator DeWine that the bureau was not investigating, nor intending to investigate, anyone with, or formerly with, BMI.
Currently then, the FBI has no intention of investigating its chief suspect, despite the grave likelihood that the remaining mystery will continue to exact massive economic and socio- political tolls.
These proceedings have bewildered and even outraged many scientists and public health professionals from whom the FBI requested assistance.
“If Senator DeWine’s statements accurately reflect director Mueller’s intention to disregard all of the most damning evidence concerning Battelle and allied vaccine makers,” said Dr. Leonard Horowitz, “then the American people should demand a new FBI director, and Congress should demand the General Accounting Office investigate the bureau’s misconduct.”
Dr. Horowitz, among a handful of infectious disease authorities who openly criticized the CIA’s illegal biological weapons program involving anthrax in his national bestselling book, Emerging Viruses: AIDS & Ebola—Nature, Accident or Intentional?, was the first to develop the theory that BMI and the CIA may be acting on behalf of British profiteers in what he says amounts to “military-industrial sabotage approaching American economic genocide.” His lengthy report on the case, initially submitted to the FBI, is available from his publisher’s website at http://www.tetrahedron.org/articles/anthrax/anthrax_espionage.html .
In defending the FBI’s position, the Washington Post reported that the bureau only learned of a BMI-administered CIA “defensive” biowarfare contract involving the Ames-strain of anthrax in recent weeks. “The CIA program was [allegedly] designed to develop defenses to a vaccine-resistant strain of anthrax reportedly created by the former Soviet Union,” officials defended. CIA spokespersons expressed certainty that “the anthrax used in the mailings did not come from their work.”
Taking the agency on its word, the powdered anthrax may not have “come from their work,” but their contractor’s work, that is, BMI.
Critics claim this CIA defense is deceptive for at least two other reasons: 1) the Soviet Union’s most potent anthrax was only half as concentrated as this new CIA/Battelle creation; and 2) it is an American/British—Ames, Iowa—strain prototype, not a Soviet creation, and not resembling anything available to Iraq or other countries favored by terrorists. This spoils the excuse the powdered anthrax was produced for any form of “defense,” including vaccines.
“Vaccines are developed to help guard against pre-existing threats,” said Ingri Cassel, director of the national Vaccination Liberation association—a consumer education and advocacy group. “This anthrax powder was illegally prepared, apparently for offensive military uses, sabotage, and even terrorism. You simply don’t develop a new hyper-weaponized strain of anthrax powder for military defense, which implies preventive vaccinations against old Soviet threats, and then commission the top U.S. anthrax expert [William C. Patrick, III] to report on this new weapon’s capability and lethality from mailed delivery, unless that’s how you foresee it being used,” Ms. Cassel reasoned.
Many people are pondering the suspicious “Machiavellian-like” targeting of the mass media and congressional Democrats (liberals) befitting the phrase “the ends justifies the means.” Multi-million dollar vaccine contracts, fast-tracked drug approvals, and frenzied consumer and legislative demand for costly, risky, and largely ineffective vaccines, antibiotics, and other high-priced preventives are the most obvious results of the anthrax mailings.
Referring to the unprecedented silica-based, electro-statically charged, dry powdered form of hyper-concentrated anthrax sent through the mail to members of the media and Senators Daschle and Leahy, Dr. Horowitz concluded, “It was the only form of anthrax that could be effectively spread, as it was, through the U.S. mail with such far reaching effects. Therefore, the primary suspects have been identified, their dubious histories are well known, and their motives are clear. Any further effort to impede this investigation places FBI director Mueller in the position of an ‘enemy national,’ or a traitor to the American people he is sworn to protect.”

Firefighter Mag Raps 9/11 Probe By JOE CALDERONE

A respected firefighting trade magazine with ties to the city Fire Department is calling for a "full-throttle, fully resourced" investigation into the collapse of the World Trade Center.
A signed editorial in the January issue of Fire Engineering magazine says the current investigation is "a half-baked farce."
The piece by Bill Manning, editor of the 125-year-old monthly that frequently publishes technical studies of major fires, also says the steel from the site should be preserved so investigators can examine what caused the collapse.
"Did they throw away the locked doors from the Triangle Shirtwaist fire? Did they throw away the gas can used at the Happy Land social club fire? ... That's what they're doing at the World Trade Center," the editorial says. "The destruction and removal of evidence must stop immediately."
Fire Engineering counted FDNY Deputy Chief Raymond Downey, the department's chief structural expert, among its senior advisers. Downey was killed in the Sept. 11 attack.
John Jay College's fire engineering expert, Prof. Glenn Corbett, serves as the magazine's technical editor.
A group of engineers from the American Society of Civil Engineers, with backing from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, has been studying some aspects of the collapse. But Manning and others say that probe has not looked at all aspects of the disaster and has had limited access to documents and other evidence.
A growing number of fire protection engineers have theorized that "the structural damage from the planes and the explosive ignition of jet fuel in themselves were not enough to bring down the towers," the editorial stated.
A FEMA spokesman, John Czwartacki, said agency officials had not yet seen the editorial and declined to comment.
Norida Torriente, a spokeswoman for the American Society of Civil Engineers, described her group's study as a "beginning" and "not a definitive work."
Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) has joined a group of relatives of firefighters who died in the attack in calling for a blue-ribbon panel to study the collapse.
"We have to learn from incidents through investigation to determine what types of codes should be in place and what are the best practices for high-rise construction," Manning told the Daily News. "The World Trade Center is not the only lightweight, core construction high-rise in the U.S. It's a typical method of construction."

FE's Bill Manning Calls for Comprehensive Investigation of WTC Collapse
Fair Lawn, NJ, January 4, 2002 - Bill Manning, Fire Engineering's editor in chief, is summoning members of the fire service to "A Call to Action." In his January 2002 Editor's Opinion, "$elling Out the Investigation" (below ), he warns that unless there is a full-blown investigation by an independent panel established solely for that purpose, "the World Trade Center fire and collapse will amount to paper- and computer-generated hypotheticals." Manning explained: "Clearly, there are burning questions that need answers .... The lessons about the buildings' design and behavior in this extraordinary event must be learned and applied in the real world."
In an interview with the New York Daily News today, Manning reiterated his call for a "full-throttle, fully resourced" investigation into the collapse of the World Trade Center. He is asking members of the fire service to read "WTC 'Investigation'? A Call to Action" in the January 2002 issue of Fire Engineering and at fireengineering.com and to contact their representatives in Congress and officials in Washington to ask that a blue ribbon panel be convened to thoroughly investigate the WTC collapse.
Among those also calling for the investigation are Sally Regenhard, the mother of Christian Regenhard, the Fire Department of New York (FDNY) probationary firefighter killed in the World Trade Center (WTC) attack, and founder of the Campaign for Skyscraper Safety; Give Your Voice, a civilian relatives' group headed by Michael Cartier, who lost his brother in the collapse; prominent structural engineers and fire-safety experts, and New York State Senators Charles Schumer and Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Did they throw away the locked doors from the Triangle Shirtwaist Fire? Did they throw away the gas can used at the Happyland Social Club Fire? Did they cast aside the pressure-regulating valves at the Meridian Plaza Fire? Of course not. But essentially, that's what they're doing at the World Trade Center.
For more than three months, structural steel from the World Trade Center has been and continues to be cut up and sold for scrap. Crucial evidence that could answer many questions about high-rise building design practices and performance under fire conditions is on the slow boat to China, perhaps never to be seen again in America until you buy your next car.
Such destruction of evidence shows the astounding ignorance of government officials to the value of a thorough, scientific investigation of the largest fire-induced collapse in world history. I have combed through our national standard for fire investigation, NFPA 921, but nowhere in it does one find an exemption allowing the destruction of evidence for buildings over 10 stories tall.
Hoping beyond hope, I have called experts to ask if the towers were the only high-rise buildings in America of lightweight, center-core construction. No such luck. I made other calls asking if these were the only buildings in America with light-density, sprayed-on fireproofing. Again, no luck-they were two of thousands that fit the description.
Comprehensive disaster investigations mean increased safety. They mean positive change. NASA knows it. The NTSB knows it. Does FEMA know it?
No. Fire Engineering has good reason to believe that the "official investigation" blessed by FEMA and run by the American Society of Civil Engineers is a half-baked farce that may already have been commandeered by political forces whose primary interests, to put it mildly, lie far afield of full disclosure. Except for the marginal benefit obtained from a three-day, visual walk-through of evidence sites conducted by ASCE investigation committee members- described by one close source as a "tourist trip"-no one's checking the evidence for anything.
Maybe we should live and work in planes. That way, if disaster strikes, we will at least be sure that a thorough investigation will help find ways to increase safety for our survivors.
As things now stand and if they continue in such fashion, the investigation into the World Trade Center fire and collapse will amount to paper- and computer-generated hypotheticals.
However, respected members of the fire protection engineering community are beginning to raise red flags, and a resonating theory has emerged: The structural damage from the planes and the explosive ignition of jet fuel in themselves were not enough to bring down the towers. Rather, theory has it, the subsequent contents fires attacking the questionably fireproofed lightweight trusses and load-bearing columns directly caused the collapses in an alarmingly short time. Of course, in light of there being no real evidence thus far produced, this could remain just unexplored theory.
The frequency of published and unpublished reports raising questions about the steel fireproofing and other fire protection elements in the buildings, as well as their design and construction, is on the rise. The builders and owners of the World Trade Center property, the Port Authority of New York-New Jersey, a governmental agency that operates in an accountability vacuum beyond the reach of local fire and building codes, has denied charges that the buildings' fire protection or construction components were substandard but has refused to cooperate with requests for documentation supporting its contentions.
