OPERATION PAPERCLIP CLOSES
So
called because of the huge amount of paperwork generated at the
close of WWII, where
almost 120 German scientists were taken to the U.S.A arriving in
America in 1945 in a ship from Le Havre.
Konrad Dannenberg who died aged
96 on Feb.16th was a V.2 rocket propulsion scientist whose
pioneering work was behind all the modern ballistic missiles, he
went on to work on the giant U S Saturn rocket which launched the
Apollo II astronauts on their voyage to the moon.
The V2 or Hitler’s “revenge weapon”
was used on Britain for refusing German peace offers, and changing
tactics to carpet bomb German cities and soldiers families, away
from the German army, and we went to great lengths to hide and
distort this information at the Nuremberg war crime trials.
The V2s height range was an amazing
50 miles and at a speed of 3,500 MPH and was ideally suitable for
the U S military. 60 V 2s were re-classified as A4s and shipped to
the States, where other German rocket experts such as Werner Von
Braun and Arthur Rudolph showed the Americans at White
Sands New Mexico, the basis of the weapons potential.
Konrad Dannenberg was
fascinated with rocketry and from the age of 12 wanted to work in
the field, and after seeing fritz von Opel in 1928 with his rocket
powered car, experimented on his own.
The Americans pulled out all the stops
to evacuate as many scientists as possible, and when the Russians
reached the V2 base at Peenemunde, found it was deserted apart from
graffiti telling them to stop the rape squads and do themselves, it
must be remembered that the Third Reich wanted to perpetuate and
continue the purity of the Arian race, which is why the Russians
wanted to see as many German women carrying their children as
possible, to ruin the genetics tables.
The 1930s saw communism sweeping
across Europe, and Hitler was the only man at the time to stand
against it, he had several secret treaties with Britain to unite
against Russia, but at the last minute under Churchill we switched
policies and saw Germany as the enemy. The situation at the wars end
meant we now had to deal with Russia on our doorstep, a huge folly
on our part and one in which British Intelligence kept telling
Churchill to the point where, exasperated he brought in his own
people the S.O.E
The death of Konrad Dannenberg
who was one of the German masterminds behind the whole U S space
projects, pretty well brings operation Paperclip to a close, and the
reams and reams of paperwork deliberately kept off computers will
now be destroyed
Personally thanked by president J.F.K
for his work, he was awarded the NASA Exceptional service medal in
1973.
