Here is the full version of the 12 minute documentary, "The Songs they Sing". I strongly recommend the viewing of this because it contains much historical footage along with translations.

Some songs have english words in them, and you will hear exactly what they are singing about. There is the "axe song" where they talk about chopping down the whites. They also sing about killing their black political opponents. However the songs generally are about killing whites.

You will also hear the original version of the "Kill the Boers" song. Interestingly, when Afrikaners tried to have the words "Kill the Boers" stopped because it is racist (not to mention it incites hatred), it was defended (successfully) in court by saying that it is part of ANC "tradition!". So the words "Kill the Boers" is NOT considered RACIST!

Our aspirant President-to-be, Jacob Zuma personally leads sing songs at every political rally in 2006, with his favourite song "My Machinegun".

I don't think there is a country in the world where this type of singing is done by Presidents, Members of Parliament, etc out in the open... and where it passes by as "normal behaviour".

This is the incitement of racial hatred. Yet, it goes on in S.Africa to this day! You will see men and women, the young and the old, singing these songs.

Should it be any wonder, with words like "Kill the Boers" that almost 2,000 of our white commercial farmers have been murdered since the 1990's? Is it any wonder that criminals torture white people and gang rape women before killing them? The black children... tiny little black boys and girls all sing these songs. Prominent politicians and whole crowds sing these songs.

If this is not the incitement to racial hatred and white genocide then I don't know what is.

I have created a high and low resolution version of the documentary for download. The Low Res version is 13.5Mb in size. It can be downloaded here:-

The Songs they Sing: Kill the Boers

Here is another excerpt from the 12 minute documentary, "The Songs they Sing". In this piece, we see them singing about killings the Boers. Most of the song is a repeat of the words, "Kill the Boers, Kill the Racists" followed by "bang, bang, bang"...

Do you know that Afrikaners have taken them to court over this, and the court concluded that the words "Kill the Boers" are NOT RACIST!! In S.Africa black people can say and sing the words "Kill the Boers" and its not illegal, and its not considered racist!

I'll bet you if a white person ever sang "Kill the Blacks", he would be thrown in jail pretty quickly, and it would be all over the world's mass media.

Our next aspiring President, Jacob Zuma's favourite song is "My Machinegun". He PERSONALLY leads the singing of it at every political rally he holds - right now in 2006. Yet, he could be our President in 2009. Again... nobody finds anything wrong with this kind of thing.

It should come as no surprise to anyone how much violence there is in this country. I highly recommend that people download and view the full version of "The Songs they Sing" and then you will see how this culture of extreme violence and political intolerance is part and parcel of the ANC's (African National Congress) culture. Their leaders, their members and even small children, sing about killing whites, killing boers and killing their political enemies.

This excerpt is under 1mb in size, and can be downloaded here:-

Nelson Mandela: The Songs They Sing about Killing Whites

Here is another excerpt from the full 12 minute documentary called "The Songs they Sing", which contains much interesting footage and many more songs which they sing, some in Xhosa, and even some in english (like "Kill the Boers...").

The singing about the killing of the whites continues to this day. Jacob Zuma, who wants to be our next President leads the singing of the song "My Machinegun" at every political rally he holds - right now, in 2006! He could be our president in 2009!

This portion shows Nelson Mandela and Ronnie Kasrils at a funeral in 1992, where all the ANC/SACP members sing about killing the whites. This excerpt shows Mandela there, and it contrasts the words of the song, sung in Xhosa (the tribe from which Mandela comes), with the words he speaks in english. It also shows other members of the ANC, including women and children singing the same words. It has been noted over the years, that often, these black leaders, say one thing in a "native" language, but when questionined in english, they say something very different. In this excerpt you will see that.

This portion of the movie is 6.7Mb in size and can be downloaded here:-
http://www.africancrisis.org/Movies/The_Songs_They_Sing_Nelson_Mandela.wmv

This is the "song of the oath", for want of a better phrase. This is where the members of MK (Mkhonto we Sizwe), the armed wing of the ANC (African National Congress), pledge to kill white people.

Here are some of the frames showing Nelson Mandela, and next to him, in the green shirt, holding his fist in a black power salute is
Ronnie Kasrils. Kasrils is a senior member of the S.African Communist party, and in 2006, he is the Minister of Intelligence in S.Africa.

The once dominant National Party is only a marginal political force now. It won only 7% of the vote in the last general election and has even resorted to a coalition with the African National Congress, its old enemy. Many former members have left to join more Right-wing parties which are divided and incapable of securing power on a national or even provincial scale. The Afrikaners' principal spiritual home, the Dutch Reformed Church, reports declining and ageing congregations, with many young Afrikaners leaving South Africa for Australia or New Zealand to avoid the crime epidemic.

Cemeteries in South Africa's main urban centres are running out of burial space as a result of the accelerating death rate from AIDS-related diseases. A survey commissioned by provincial authorities gives warnings that the country faces "a health and environmental disaster" if scientifically based projections that some 780,000 people will die each year by 2010 prove correct. In Natal alone, consultants said some three million bodies would need to be buried within the next 10 years as a result of the AIDS pandemic. Researchers who compiled the survey for the Town and Regional Planning Commission said the space required for "normal burials" in Natal over the next decade would be the equivalent of 3,240 soccer pitches. "In Johannesburg, if you do not die within the next 10 years, there won't be a place for you to be buried," The Star newspaper reported yesterday. Alan Buff, technical support manager for Johannesburg, said the demand for burial space in the city's existing cemeteries had increased by 100 per cent in the past 10 years. Of the 13 cemeteries "still available", nine had an optimum lifespan of only nine years he said. Brian Eastman, acting head of cemeteries for the Cape Town metropolitan area, said some burial grounds in Black areas such as Guguletu and Langa were "operating like factories" with about 40 burials every weekend.

The bodies of two White women, who had been stabbed to death with a bread knife, were found in Rosettenville, southern Johannesburg. 66-year-old Ethal Joan Jenkins and her friend, Dawn Attwood (55), were attacked by Blacks, who entered the Daisy Road house through the garage and back-door and over-powered them in the kitchen. Two TV sets, a hi-fi and a car were taken. Three Black killers, aged 17, 24 and 28, armed with a 9mm pistol, shot and killed a farmer's wife, 27-year-old Estelle Burger, and the farm's foreman, Erasmus Wolmarans, 52, after kidnapping the two and driving with them for four kilometres [2 and a half miles] in the farmer's car. A police spokesman said 'the motive for the attack was not known'. A 28-year-old woman was raped and murdered by a Black at Louisvale in Upington on Saturday. Johanna Magriettta Kock and her friend were walking home on Saturday night when a man came from behind and threw sand in her friend's eyes. The friend fled while Kock was raped and murdered. An as yet unidentified White man has been found shot dead in his car near Bapsfontein near Pretoria. A burgeoning Black squatter camp at Bapsfontein is seen by many neighbouring residents as the 'safe haven' for killers and robbers sallying forth to loot and kill in the surrounding area.

What is undeniable is that [there are] 59 murders and 752 serious assaults each day in South Africa. Crime levels in South Africa have increased dramatically since the end of apartheid, making South Africa the second most violent country in the world after Colombia.

A White man who began firing a .303 rifle at Black people injured 14, four of them seriously. The attacker opened fire after parking his car on a road near the South African town of Rustenburg. Racist attacks have continued in South Africa despite the ending of apartheid in the early 1990s.

Highflats brothers Justin (9) and Timothy Simpson (7) will enter their livestock for the third time at the Natal Youth Show, held at the Royal Showgrounds on Thursday, but on Wednesday morning they came face to face with an altogether more brutal side to farming: stocktheft and indiscriminate mutilations. A total of 18 Jersey milkers on their father Quintin Simpson's farm were mutilated, leaving one cow alive but half-skinned with her rear leg chopped off and the back of her head taken off with a cane knife. The incident follows a similar attack last Friday in which Simpson's farm boss Nathan Stewart's herd of 22 Jersey milkers was slaughtered, a herd he had spent his whole life saving up to buy off Simpson. Last May 16 cows disappeared off Simpson's farm, and last December a neighbouring farmer, John Breeden, lost 25 cows to stock thieves.

Myself and Madeleine were robbed at gunpoint in our house on 01 Jan 2002. The Black bastards forced their way in the kitchen door with guns when we went out to feed the future protectors of our house. They kicked me around a bit and luckily did not really harm me, and they also didn't do anything to Madeleine. The only injuries we got were from the electrical cord they tied us up with. I suppose we were very very lucky as they usually rape the woman and kill the man. They got away with all our stuff and my new car. But at least we are alive and unharmed. If ever you were considering coming back to kaffirland, DON'T!!

At least 70 of the 152 candidate officers at the S.A. Army Gymnasium in Heidelberg were pushed through last year, despite having failed the final examination. After consideration of the students' average marks for the course, it was decided to let them pass. Defence force members are outraged that training standards were "violated" several times last month, setting "dangerous precedents". In certain cases, such as in the airforce, where pilots were allowed through despite being partially trained in the private sector, their fellow pilots believe safety could be compromised. The scandal in the airforce started when it appeared that no Black pilots would qualify during the wings parade in December because they had failed. "Integration generals" boycotted the parade and investigations were made into allegations that instructors at the Central Flying School at Langebaan are racist in their training approach. Two members of former homelands airforces, who according to the airforce obtained their licences mostly through a private flying school, received their wings. The airforce said it is not lowering standards but is fulfilling its responsibility to make pilots and navigators representative as quickly as possible.

The Rand dropped below 18 to the Pound for the first time yesterday, continuing a decline that has seen South Africa's currency lose 40% of its value this year. After six months when the Rand has performed worse against the U.S. Dollar than any other currency, confirmation of the retirement of James Cross, the reserve bank deputy governor, wiped 3% off the value. The currency began its latest downward spiral back in January, but the past fortnight has seen dramatic worsening as it has broken through previously unthinkable barriers. The collapse represents the most significant economic challenge to the ruling African National Congress since it took power in 1994.

The recent Land Tenure Conference in Durban became a hotbed of racist anti-White vitriol with calls for only one farm per family, and more taxes against the Whites. Not a word about farm murders which continue apace. Tensions and disillusionment within the former Broederbond, the secret and manipulative Afrikaner organisation now known as the Afrikanerbond, have come to the surface. A prominent member, Prof. Kas Landman, has resigned, allegedly because the organisation "has lost its Afrikaner focus". In an obvious attempt at damage-control, Prof. Francois Venter, chairman, and Prof. Kobus Mostert, executive director, said that the Afrikanerbond is "just like the South African community", in a process of change. According to a Sunday newspaper, Landman has said that the Afrikanerbond is in crisis, and that about a third of its remaining 6,486 members have stopped paying their dues. The Afrikanerbond is now apparently financed out of the so-called Christiaan de Wet Fund.

South Africa has rarely had a worse week. The Rand collapsed to its lowest levels ever against the Pound and the [U.S.] Dollar. International Aids Day found the government of Mbeki with its policies in the usual twist. The successors of the old National Party did a deal with the ruling African National Congress which will ensure that they are safe and unopposed. A small boy sleeping between his parents was shot dead by an intruder. Dozens of cars were hijacked. Dozens of babies were raped because of the current myth that this cures Aids. Clearly, the place is going to the dogs.

- Sunday Telegraph, December 2, 2001

Thabo Mbeki was accused yesterday of orchestrating a "whitewash" after an investigation of a £4 billion arms deal found no evidence of wrongdoing by South Africa's government. Although the chief whip of the ruling African National Congress had to resign after being charged with corruption linked to the deal, the inquiry report concluded: "No evidence was found of any improper or unlawful conduct by the government." Opposition parties, led by the Democratic Party, boycotted a session of parliament in protest when it emerged that the 380-page report was published only after government revisions. They described the publication as a stage-managed media event. The former judge Willem Heath, one of South Africa's most respected anti-corruption campaigners, said the investigation was a "whitewash and a farce". He added that the government should have chosen a powerful and independent investigating authority to look at the deal.

In an extraordinary turn-around for the once all-powerful National Party, its leader, Marthinus van Schalkwyk, has proposed a pact with the old enemy, the African National Congress. In the Coloured areas of Cape Town, the party's last bastion, supporters yesterday rejected the plan in outrage and disbelief. The Nats were overtaken for the first time by traditional rivals from the English South African community, the Democratic Party, which consolidated its supremacy by forming the Democratic Alliance with the NNP as junior partners. As polls indicated that the DP was shifting towards the Right and threatening to take what few conservative votes the NNP had left, Mr. van Schalkwyk decided to withdraw from the Alliance in a last atempt to maintain the "Nats" as an independent electoral force. But critics see the new plan as the manoeuvre of a weak leader that would signal the end of the [New] National Party. An alliance of angry Coloured and White voters from NNP local councils met last week and demanded an emergency party congress on November 17 to debate a vote of no confidence in Mr. van Schalkwyk. If Mr. van Schalkwyk loses the vote the party will limp on and return to the alliance with the DP. If he wins, he will take a much reduced party to join the ANC. Either way it is a high-risk strategy that threatens to kill off the "Nats" once and for all.

When a new wave of South African diplomats arriving in London to work at the country's High Commission found the building crammed with murals and paintings, it was soon realised they were an embarrassing reminder of the country's racist past. The art on display at South Africa House in Trafalgar Square included idealised images of landscapes from which Black and mixed-race [sic] towns and people had mysteriously disappeared, inaccurate portraits of indigenous people in supposedly traditional dress, and even natives bowing contentedly at the feet of White masters. There were calls for the murals to be painted over - but art historians and conservationists pointed out their artistic and historical value, and a compromise has been reached. The most offensive works will be covered by removable panels. Lorna de Smidt, the South African political scientist and art historian given the job of overseeing refurbishment, said the murals do show Black people only in deferential roles, but added: "We had to acknowledge the past, and accept that it is there. You can't just airbrush things out of history and pretend they didn't exist." The murals are a legacy of the old South Africa, painted in the Thirties. One former ambassador, Carel de Wet, even banned any images of Black people in contemporary settings from the building. Chief among the works to disappear from everyday view are the paintings of Jan Juta. Juta's images show scenes such as indigenous people kneeling before early Dutch settler leader Simon van der Stel, symbolically offering him the soil of the country. English Heritage is also happy with the South African approach. Architectural historian Susie Barson said: "We have a good working relationship with them and we think that their proposals are a very reasonable compromise. This is a very good piece of modern design."

Two more cases of child rape have been reported since a nine-month-old baby was sexually abused by six men at the weekend, while official police statistics revealed on Wednesday that 31,780 child rape and attempted rape cases were opened from January last year to June this year. The baby, who was hospitalised following the rapes, has been taken off the Kimberley Hospital's critical care list and moved to a general ward. However, she will still have to undergo extensive surgery to repair severe damage to her colon and reproductive organs, the hospital's medical director, Hammid Shabbir, said on Wednesday. Meanwhile, a 14-month-old baby girl from Tweeling in the eastern Free State was allegedly raped by her uncles. In another case, a three-year-old girl received hospital treatment in Kimberley after allegedly being raped by her grandfather. Northern Cape Health MEC Dipuo Peters visited both babies at the Kimberley Hospital on Wednesday. "I suspect that at least part of the reason these children were raped is because of the myth held in rural areas by men with HIV that they can cleanse themselves by having sex with a virgin," Peters said.

A 20-year-old Mount Frere mother, Nombovumo Mvinjana, had her facial skin removed with a scalpel and her genitalia, breasts, hands and feet hacked off, probably while still alive, police said. Residents protested to the authorities after the eight people accused of the murder were granted bail of R1000 each when they appeared in the Mount Frere court recently. Among the accused are Mvinjana's husband, Sithembele Maqanda, 20, and her uncle Somomzi Govuzela, 37. They were not asked to plead. The murder allegedly took place in a spaza shop owner's home in April. Police suspect the victim's body parts were to be used as the ingredients for a diabolical get-rich-quick spell called ukutwalela ubutyebi, where fresh human remains are smeared over a person or eaten.

The leaders of South Africa's two largest non-Black parties attacked each other yesterday after the collapse of an alliance that was meant to unite them against the ruling African National Congress. The breakdown paved the way for a new deal between the political heirs of the National Party, which created and imposed 40 years of apartheid, and the ANC it once banned as a terrorist group. Tony Leon, leader of both the Democratic Alliance and its largest constituent group, the Democratic Party, clearly felt betrayed after the withdrawal of the New National Party. He accused its leader, Marthinus van Schalkwyk, of "U-turns, zig-zags, back-stabbing and contradictions". Mr. van Schalkwyk accused Mr. Leon of running a party that wanted to maintain outdated, racist attitudes. "The DA would like to take us, especially the White community, back to the old days of demonising Black south Africans and demonising the ANC," he said. Mr. Leon and his supporters hope that not all NNP members will follow their leader out of the alliance, especially as van Schalkwyk has embarked on the risky strategy of cutting a deal with the ANC. The collapse of the Democratic Alliance marked the end of an experiment launched 16 months ago to try to co-ordinate opposition parties mainly representing White and Coloured voters.

A White girl has been raped by an armed Black attacker in Klerksdorp. The girl and her boyfriend had stopped at a traffic light after midnight, when the masked gunman held a pistol to the boy's head, jumped in and forced them to drive to the grounds of a church. There he forced the boy to leave, taking the girl and raping her at gunpoint. Rape against White women and girls has escalated to a previously unknown extent since the country was handed over to the Black, communist regime. An elderly and helpless White man, 82-year-old Mr. Meyer, has been assaulted by Blacks on his farm near Zeerust. He and his elderly sister were overpowered and brutally beaten by three gunmen on Sunday night according to the police. Meyer is in a critical condition in hospital. A 41-year-old woman from Triomf was shot dead and robbed of her vehicle in Booysens Reserve on Friday afternoon. She was waiting for a friend on the corner of Fourth Street and Third Avenue next to the Soweto Highway, when two Black men approached her and one of them shot her in the head. They then threw her out of the car and drove off. As usual, the suspects escaped into one of the Black townships.

Hundreds of hard-line South African Muslims are signing up to fight with the Taliban against the United States in Afghanistan. The Muslims are reacting to calls made by terrorist mastermind Osama bin Laden, who urged his followers on a pre-recorded video tape shown worldwide to launch a holy war against America and Americans. Thousands of supporters of Muslims Against Illegitimate Leaders [sic] in Cape Town shouting anti-US slogans have presented a memorandum against the US-led raids in Afghanistan at the United States Consulate in Cape Town. Supporters of radical Muslim terrorists, numerically a small minority in South Africa, are seen to have gained great influence with the ruling communist regime due to their support for the ANC during its terrorist days.

A warrant was issued yesterday for the arrest of Winnie Madikizela-Mandela, the former wife of Nelson Mandela and president of the African National Congress's women's league, in connection with fraud and theft charges involving more than £70,000. A former employee of Saambou, a leading South African bank, allegedly used letter, with the ANC women's league letterheads and signed by Mrs. Madikizela-Mandela, to obtain bank loans for fictitious people. Eddy Moolman, a broker with Saambou, is in custody awaiting trial on the same charges which concern loans to 66 bogus women's league employees. Johannesburg newspapers reported that Mrs. Madikizela-Mandela expressed surprise at the charges against here. She accused fellow members of South Africa's ruling party of running "a dirty campaign" against her. "I have no third-force enemy so one can conclude that the campaign is being waged from within my organisation," she told the City Press newspaper.

Delegates of the Freedom Front Youth and Inkatha Freedom Party Youth Brigade met on 29 September 2001 for bilateral talks in Bloemfontein. This was a first formal discussion ever, between these movements, of significant issues, which are of interest to both. The delegates were of the opinion that the discussions were necessary for a better understanding of the parties' political viewpoints. The leaders of tomorrow could possibly come from the ranks of these movements. Both parties experienced the meeting as positive and constructive and they indicated that discussions on this level were important in order to find permanent solutions for all in South Africa. Both movements expressed the need for the continuation of such talks.

AIDS will have claimed the lives of more than six million South Africans - a fifth of the population - by 2010, the country's medical research council reported yesterday. The results of a survey based on official statistics contradicted Mbeki's denial last week that AIDS was the single largest killer in South Africa. Estimates that 40% of deaths in the country in the 15 to 49 age group were from AIDS will revive the anger among campaigners over the South African leader's controversial views on the virus. The report found an alarming increase in AIDS-related deaths among young adults in the past three years. Unless there was effective intervention there would be a threefold increase in deaths among children between one and five.

The US Secretary of State, Colin Powell, revealed late last night that there is a strong possibility that South Africans and possibly the South African Government might be involved in the [WTC and Pentagon] terrorism attacks. Video footage at the airports revealed that at least three South Africans boarded each fatal plane. The subject is still under investigation but sources believe that it has a strong link to the recent US boycott of the racism conference held in Durban. Information gleaned from the hijacked planes' passenger lists have led to search warrants. The FBI is in the process of or will soon be executing search warrants in more than one location in South Africa, Florida and Canada, including homes and post office boxes, a law enforcement source told CNN. "We're looking at south Florida ties to some of the people we're looking at," the source said. Also, in South Africa, a search will be done on a location in Durban. Information sources disclosed to CNN that some of the masterminds might be in a hideaway in South Africa. Strong links have also been made between South Africa and Libya. President Bush late on Tuesday issued a warning to any nation that may be giving refuge to those responsible for the terrorist attacks. "We will make no distinction between the terrorists who committed these acts and those who harbour them," the President said from the Oval Office of the White House as he promised retaliation.

As former Southern Africa soldiers and national servicemen, we would like to ask the American leftist establishment the following: Did you not condone all those ZANU and ZAPU terrorist acts against White Rhodesia and embrace their leader Robert Mugabe? Did you not wine and dine the SWAPO hierarchy, who ordered Black and White civilians blown up and shot all over northern South West Africa, ultimately helping to put those terrorist leaders in power in 1990? Did you not, in the seventies and eighties, side with the ANC/Communist terror organisation against our White South Africa, ignoring the Church Street bomb, the necklacing and all the other atrocities, cheer-leading the terrorist leaders into power as the so-called new South Africa in 1994? Don't you see the obvious link between what was done to us here, and what is now done to you? Do you realise that through your opportunistic and cynical support of terrorists in Africa you opened up the way for thousands of innocent Americans to be bombed by friends of your comrades in the USA? We now cry for your victims of terror in New York and elsewhere. Do not forget, though, that when our people in Rhodesia, South West Africa and South Africa were the victims you had little sympathy for them, but found all sorts of excuses for the perpetrators, slapped us down for defending ourselves, and helped to elevate those self-same terrorists to become presidents, ministers and generals.

The South African Minister of Police, Steve Tswete, announces there were just under 22,000 murders reported last year in South Africa. If that's what he says, there were probably a lot more than that. Now let's look at the record of the Rand against th Canadian Dollar - it now costs you about six Rand per Dollar - and will be R10 to the CD$ before very long as it continues its downward plunge. In North America crime is going down and things are getting better. In South Africa things are steadily getting worse. If you don't believe that South Africa will have a worse time than Zimbabwe is currently experiencing, think again. The amount of racial tension and conflict in South Africa has always been far greater than that in Rhodesia. Tick tock, tick tock - time to leave. The time bomb is ticking.

A "torch of tolerance" has been lit in Durban as a publicity gimmick for the United Nations conference against racism. But for many people in the post-apartheid "Rainbow Nation" the event is a damp squib. As if to underline the point, the Congress of South African Trade Unions called a two-day general strike this week against privatisation plans. It was timed to coincide with the summit's opening. Critics have queried whether Pretoria is right to agree to meet 80% of the £11 million cost of the Durban jamboree.

The lot of Black South Africans appears to harve worsened since the end of apartheid. Unemployment among Blacks is more than 50%. Property crimes are at an all-time high, and the murder rates are the highest of any major cities in the world. Meanwhile, AIDS has unleashed its fury, and South Africa now has the highest infection rate in the world. The youth and the middle class, those most needed in the country's reconstruction, have been stricken hardest. An air of despair hangs over the Black majority.

Things are getting worse by the day in this once wonderful country. I am planning now for a civil war. All essential items are now being stocked up as well as not relying on the system for water and electricity. We have lost over 1500 farmers killed since 1994. This does not include people who have been murdered or hi-jacked (cars taken from them by force). Once we start we will not stop until Zimbabwe has been brought under White control again. This could be in the next two years.

Mr. Len Botha (60), farmer of the Bloekomspruit area [Balfour], was killed on Friday when he was hijacked at the outskirts of the town. It seems as if his Black attackers wanted to kill him. Neither his weapon or money was taken after they shot him in the arm, back and kidneys. After killing him the attackers dragged his body to the middle of the road and sped off in Botha's bakkie.

Clive Derby-Lewis and Janusz Walus failed in a last attempt to obtain amnesty for the 1993 murder of SA Communist Party (SACP) leader Chris Hani. The Supreme Court of Appeal (SCA) in Bloemfontein dismissed with costs their bid to challenge the Cape High Court's dismissal of an earlier application for a review of the rejection of their amnesty application. Derby-Lewis, a former Conservative Party MP, and gunman Walus were sentenced to death for shooting Hani outside his Boksburg home on April 10, 1993. The sentences were commuted to life imprisonment by the SCA last year. In April 1999 the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) rejected an amnesty application by the two men, saying they had failed to prove that Hani's murder was politically motivated. The TRC's amnesty committee also found the men had failed to make a full disclosure, another prerequisite for amnesty. In December last year the Cape High Court dismissed an application by the two to review the TRC's decision. In June a full bench of the same court dismissed with costs an application for leave to take their case to the SCA. This left them with one last option - petitioning the Chief Justice directly. This has now failed. [ Full details about Clive Derby-Lewis's plight can be found at The Free Clive web-site.]

Since 1991 more than a thousand people, mostly commercial farmers, have died in 5594 attacks on farms, Agri South Africa said yesterday. On Monday, the Democratic Alliance said a lack of security on farms has resulted in South African farmers now living in "a continuous state of terror". The Transvaal Agricultural Union yesterday said the escalating flood of attacks and barbarism aimed at South African farmers had reached a level at which it could no longer be tolerated. TAU President Gert Ehlers said the politicians' silence on the issue only sanctioned these attacks and the state was failing dismally to ensure the rights of the country's people to live in a safe and secure environment. For the first six months of this year, there had been 461 attacks in which 67 people had been killed.

Afrikaners have formed a new forum which is soon to be turned into a political party. The forum is called the Christian National Forum, and will in due course be turned into a political party with the name Christian National Front. The members stem from the former National Party, the Freedom Front, the Conservative Party and the Afrikaner Unity Movement. More Conservative Party members are expected to join up once the CP has disbanded itself at its annual congress on August 18, 2001.

A man and his brother-in-law were shot dead in a farm attack at Boons south of Rustenburg on Saturday evening, police said yesterday. Senior Superintendent Pieter du Plessis said Johan Stapelberg, 40, and Hendrik Johannes Uys, 35, were attacked after they reacted to an emergency call from a neighbour who reported the presence of three suspicious-looking men. The men tried to get away, but Stapelberg and Uys blocked their car with a bakkie. They opened fire, killing Stapelberg and Uys.

Former major of Louis Trichardt and well-known pharmacist in the area, Mr. Johan Moolman, escaped death when he was attacked by two armed Blacks at closing hours on Wednesday and a gun pointed at him failed to fire. Mr. Ronald Laaper (41) of the farm Misty Hills in Waterval-Boven was shot through the hips in his house by a Black intruder on Monday. He died early on Tuesday morning, apparently from internal bleeding. A Black in his early twenties, working on a neighbouring farm, was arrested. A former Briton, Mr. Harry Strike (32) lost his life when he met up with the harsh reality of the so-called "new" South Africa. Strike, who emigrated to South Africa three years ago, died on Sunday when he was attacked by four armed Blacks in his "Harry's Food Store" in Northriding. One of the attackers shot him in the head before fleeing with about R10,000. David Strike, brother of Harry, said they were always under the impression that the so-called problems in South Africa were not worse than anywhere else in the world. In yet another attempted cash-heist robbery on Monday which involves a "new" South African policeman, the inspector allegedly shot himself in the head when the heist ran foul. Another robber who was also shot on the scene is believed to be a policeman as well because a Z88 police-issue pistol was found on him. Two employees of the Board of Executors (BOE) were shot dead by a gang of armed robbers in Kempton Park on Monday morning. The bank employees stopped outside a branch of Supa Quick in Voortrekker Road and one went in to fetch a container of cheques. A man posing as a client drew a gun and shot him.

The credibility of a global racism conference hung in the balance last night after America threatened to pull out and Britain said it was considering downgrading its delegation. At the heart of the row is the wording of a draft declaration for the World Conference Against Racism, which is to be held in Durban, South Africa, next month, that includes references to reparations being owed to victims of the 18th century slave trade. Washington is also concerned at references equating Zionism with racism.

More than 200,000 people have already been murdered in South Africa's crime-wave since 1994.

Days of Mourning called - This originates from the many pro-capitalists in the Netherlands who are growing increasingly concerned by the ongoing murders of commercial farmers in Zimbabwe [Rhodesia] and South Africa. More than 1,110 commercial farmers have already been murdered in South Africa since 1994. International days of mourning are also being called not only for the murdered agriculturalists and police officers, but also and promarily for the more than 200,000 people of South Africa who have already been murdered since 1994 in the world's most terrible crime-wave.

A 43-year-old farmer was found dead near Potchefstroom on Monday night, police said yesterday. Captain Annelie van der Bank said a farm worker found Ignatius Michael van Rooyen in his bakkie about 200 metres from his house on Rietkuil farm. He had beeb shot in the shoulder. The worker alerted van Rooyen's brother and father on a neighbouring farm. Emergency services were called to the scene and van Rooyen was pronounced dead. The motive for the atack was not known as nothing was taken from the house or bakkie. The killers are believed to have fled on foot.

The senior African National Congress official at the centre of the £4 billion arms scandal claimed yesterday that charges against him were motivated by racists. Tony Yengeni, the ANC's Chief Whip, took a full-page advertisement in local newspapers to deny that he acted improperly over the award of defence contracts. The statement comes a day before public hearings into the affair resume. "Racism has reared its ugly head once more," his advertisement read. "It clearly motivated some of the worst forms of McCarthyism during his whole frenzy and witch-hunt." One allegation is that Yengeni accepted a 47% discount on a Mercedes Benz car from a firm bidding for an aircraft contract. In the advert Yengeni admitted he received a 26% discount but did not say why. The firm, European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company, has admitted providing substantial discounts on Mercedes cars for 33 officials, military officers and politicians in South Africa.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thabo Mbeki and Winnie Madikizela-Mandela are embroiled in an acrimonious public row opening up a deep division between two of the most senior figures in the ruling African National Congress. What began as an unseemly tussle when Mbeki pushed Nelson Mandela's ever controversial ex-wife aside after she turned up late to a public ceremony to mark the 25th anniversary of the Soweto uprising [sic] has developed into a high-level slanging match. After the official ANC party machine put out a statement accusing Madikizela-Mandela of "tomfoolery", she hit back accusing Mbeki of betraying the ideals of the anti-apartheid "struggle". This has fuelled speculation that Mbeki's position as party leader is not totally secure. The tension has its roots in a letter she wrote to a cabinet colleague of Mbeki in which she made allegations about his private life. Although the letter was not made fully public it sparked a debate about the president's character that is known to have incensed him. When he attended the ceremony Madikizela-Mandela turned up late. It was a tactic she has used before because she enjoys considerable support in the sqatter settlements in townships such as Soweto. As the crowd stirred she refused to take her seat in the VIP area but mounted the dais to approach Mbeki. He shrugged her off with such vigour that her hat fell off, sparking the war of words.

A completely traumatized young boy was found naked and bound to a farm fence after his parents had been shot to death in their bed this week. When found by the police, the boy was too shocked to speak. His mouth had been stuffed with grass and he was suffering as well from exposure. A daughter crept into her room while the brutal assault and murder of her parents took place on their farm near Groblersdal. The fact that the police came quickly after being notified is said to have saved the life of the young son. Nothing was stolen from the house and both parents had been shot in the head. The double murder was the third fatal attack of this type to occur within a week. In the Ceres district a farmer and his wife were both shot in the head, while a farm couple in King William's Town were bludgeoned to death with a blunt instrument. Their bodies were only found several days later. There were more than 20,000 murders in South Africa last year, more than 26,000 attempted murders, 95,000 robberies with aggravating circumstances, 50,000 reported rapes (it is said that only around 20% of rapes are ever reported), 260,000 serious assaults and 239,000 common assaults. More than 298,000 homes and 87,000 businesses were broken into and more than 96,000 vehicles were stolen. All in all 2.4 million serious crimes were reported in the year 2000.

There is only one criterion that matters when assessing the efficacy of a government and that is its stewardship. Among the various alarm bells now ringing concerning this country is that of the International Institute of Strategic Studies. In its recently released annual report it slammed Mbeki for "ineffective leadership and shaky stewardship". Responsible stewardship means a safe and secure environment is provided for citizens, that their skills are husbanded and that the value of the currency of the country is sustained. If the government of the day did nothing else but see to those things it would do us proud. Sadly, however, it has failed dismally in these roles while through legislation it is actively squandering and exporting vital skills and talents. With the exception of Russia [the then Soviet Union] under Stalin and China under Mao, there is no precedent for the systematic murder of farmers that has been ongoing in South Africa for more than 10 years.

Over a thousand farmers have been murdered in what can only be regarded as an undeclared war. Food and land resource production is the backbone of this country, yet the government seemingly remains indifferent to that. Obsessed with the so-called previously disadvantaged, it fails to see the emergence of a newly disadvantaged group. By marginalising this food-producing, employment-providing group of White farmers the entire country faces breakdown. The plight of the farmers in the face of anarchy is shared by those entrusted with maintaining law and order. Between 1994 and 1999 some 1,412 policemen were murdered by criminals. The current figure is not known because of a moratorium on crime statistics. Again there is no precedent for this kind of toll. The actual figure, tragically, is much higher but the government declines to provide it because it claims, amazingly, that "racism" motivates calls for the lifting of the crime stats moratorium. The high-handedness, however, is simply compounding the view that the ANC cannot cope with the basics of government. Lawlessness in the fields and on the streets is being abetted by corruption in the suites and corridors.

Addressing the South Africa-Israel Chamber of Commerce in April, Judge Willem Heath stated that corruption governed South Africa and that the government was not dedicated in the fight against it ([Natal] Mercury, April 4). Each day fresh reports of corruption are published in the press. The need for greed is more than a television programme. It's become a national passtime. Shameless and unrepentant like Alan Boesak, those involved in corrupt practices rarely repay their debt to society. Instead they are recycled and redeployed to new pastures. The pretence of practising a culture of good governance has been supplanted, all too often, by a culture of dishonesty. The need for greed is also being fulfilled quite legally, depending on one's position in the hierarchy of the elite. In March the KZN [Natal] provincial legislature approved an upgrade of cars for the royal Zulu household in excess of R2 million. This included an armour-plated Mercedes for the king at a cost of R700,000. A further sum of R1,68 million was budgeted for him to continue his farming operations. Not bad when one considers there are insufficient funds to sustain the provision of primary health care for his subjects and to install basic amenities in many of their schools.

Then there is Cromet Molepo, the CEO of Umgeni Water. He's had a R250,000 security system installed at his home because he did not feel safe enough under the previous R28,000 system. The bills for both systems have been footed by the consumers of Umgeni Water. With the exception of the Western Cape, wastage and profligate spending have become the norm across the country. Despite hitting consumers with a historically unprecedented 30% water tariff hike, the ANC-led Durban Unicity Council is to spend R260 million on the building of a 60,000-seat soccer stadium. Although only some 42,000 people in total attended soccer matches in the city last year, calls for frugality and realism fall on deaf ears. The need for greed rules. A showpiece white-elephant is to be added to Durban's landmarks. In Parliament public service minister Geraldine Fraser-Moleketi's disclosure that R1,6 million is spent annually on consultants' fees is an admission of failed government. The barometer of this wholesale betrayal of stewardship is the value of the Rand. When the ANC came to power in May 1994 its value stood at R3,58 to the U.S. Dollar. It has now declined to over R8 - and the corollary of that reality is the impoverishment of the country, particularly of those whose votes placed the ANC in power. A damning indictment indeed.

The bodies of an elderly Yellowwoods couple who were brutally murdered on their smallholding near King William's Town were found last night. William Dennis and his wife Shirley, both aged 64, were apparently murdered earlier in the week. Their bodies, with their hands and feet bound with wire, were found after a neighbour became suspicious when he did not see them for a few days and summoned police to investigate. When police arrived they had to force the back door open and found the body of Mrs. Dennis lying on her face in a pool of blood and bound by the hands and legs with wire. Mr. Dennis's body was later found similarly bound and tied to a perimeter fence in "hammock" fashion. A motive has not been established as nothing, including two vehicles, was found to be missing. A neighbour who alerted police, Leon Nel, 42, whose wife Delene was attacked on their farm two weeks ago, said the couple were due to attend a meeting early next week along with other farmers to discuss farm security in the area.

Another five Whites were murdered in four different terrorist-like farm attacks by Blacks last week and the media hardly made a sound. Parys - Following the bashing-in of a 13-year-old White schoolboy's head last week by Black killers on the OFS, the body of 75-year-old Mrs. Griet van der Westhuizen was found by her son-in-law on her farm Small Deel in the Parys district on Thursday. Mrs. van der Westhuizen who lived alone on the farm seems to have been murdered 2 days previously. Klerksdorp - Mr. Gawie van der Merwe (55) of the farm Syfertfontein in the Hartebeesfontein area was murdered when he was shot in the head by his killers. The body of his ladyfriend, Dorethea van der Merwe (48) of Potchefstroom was found in a storeroom. She appears to have been suffocated by her killers. Two rifles, a pistol and a revolver were stolen. Natal - Mr. Wilfred Ullerman (78) and his wife were ambused by 3 Blacks on Thursday in the Babanango area. Mr. Ullerman was shot and killed by one of the men when he got out of his vehicle to open a gate. The murderers, one clad in an army uniform and two others wearing overalls fled the scene after taking Ullerman's phone and a couple of Rands. Magaliesburg - Gustav Gullas (70) of the farm Kosterfontein in the Magaliesburg district was killed by four Blacks, one armed with a firearm. He was tied-up with a belt and was kicked by his assailants until his body became still. Two firearms, two phones and Mr. Gullas's vehicle were stolen. It was the second attempt on Mr. Gullas's life by Blacks. No arrests have been made. St.Lucia - Henry Oram, head of the anti-poaching division at St.Lucia was shot and killed in a shoot-out while on patrol on Friday night. It seems as if Mr. Oram returned fire and may have injured one of his attackers. The motive could be a hijacking attempt or be related to a case he was investigating. Pretoria - "new" South African police are still looking for suspects who murdered a cafe owner, Mr. Christo Potamianos (59) in the Willows shopping centre on April 19th. Two suspects, Vusi Twala (25) and Mandla Mathibela have been arrested in connection with the murder. Mr. Potamianos was stabbed several times and died in his shop. No motive for the murder has been issued.

More than 1,000 White farmers have been murdered in South Africa since Nelson Mandela was elected the first Black president in 1994. Investigators say farmers, remote and isolated, are easy targets for common criminals, who they believe are responsible for nearly all the killings. But many Whites believe sinister forces are at work, conspiring to intimidate Whites who own most of the nation's best land. Whether the killers are revolutionaries acting on their own or being guided by a hidden hand, few farmers doubt there are political and racial motives behind the killings. It is said that the killings seem well-planned, but sometimes little or nothing is stolen. The targets are frequently older farmers, whose farms may be the subject of a land claim. When the killers are caught, they almost always are young Black men. A few have left anti-White statements or revolutionary graffiti.

It's not every day that when taking a stroll you find your name on an envelope next to a busy road, but Nahoon Valley's Teresa Meier did. She got a fright on Workers' Day (sic) when she saw a letter addressed to her dumped on the road along with hundreds of others. "This is distressing. I had to deliver one cheque personally to the gentleman in the next street as it would have expired," she said. Meier said the letters, which included a slip identifying the delivering postman, were dumped next to a bridge between Old Transkei Road and the North-East expressway. Some of the letters, which date back to March, were opened and others burnt, indicating there had been attempts to destroy them. They included policy accounts, bank statements, private and confidential letters, parcel slips, cheques and municipal accounts.

A White 14-year-old Bloemfontein schoolboy was beaten to death by 3 Blacks on Friday afternoon while he was selling sheep. Francois Kruger and two friends were attacked in Heidedal and beaten with pipes. The killers took R300 from the boy. He was rushed to a local hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival. Two Blacks, Brian Moya and am Nkosi Ngwenya have been arrested for the murder of the 5 month pregnant Amelia Viljoen earlier this month on their Haardoring smallholding near Pretoria. Amelia's throat was slit in their main bedroom and her body was dragged to the bathroom where she was left to bleed to death. Moya, one of the alleged killers, was the gardener of the Viljoens at the time of the murder. The identity of the woman found murdered at the Tinktinkie hostel for blind children of the Prishof school has not been identified yet. She was between 55 and 60 years old. She was strangled with a chain and allegedly also raped. An 18-year-old girl was gang-raped by six Black youths in the Maake area of the Northern Transvaal on Saturday morning. A group of youths, aged between 18 and 22, confronted her and dragged her into a bush where they gang-raped her. No arrests were made.

South African Whites are being viciously attacked and killed, and a media blackout of the crimes has not helped. Criminals who are usually armed with powerful AK47 military carbines, of which millions have been left behind in Africa from the local wars of African independence over the past 20-odd years, have been rampaging across the country with little resistance from the authorities. This is especially true for farmers, against whom a campaign seems to have been launched since 1992 that has already left 1,048 people dead (26% of whom are Black farm workers and their families, and the rest are White commercial farmers and their family members) from more than 5,500 well-armed military-style attacks by groups of young Black males. Under South Africa's new gun laws these civilian farmers would no longer be allowed to carry anything larger than a small handgun to defend themselves from such attacks. The [ANC] South African government also is engaged in a deliberate criminalisation campaign in the news media against its commercial farmers, with media accusations of "racist" acts that, when brought before the courts of law or probed by police, have however been proven to be almost totally unfounded. Last year White farmers were arrested on more than 150 charges ranging from murder to accusations of racist cruelty against farm workers. Yet only one farmer has thus far been found guilty. Frequently the armed attacks against commercial farm families are carried out with unusual extremes of cruelty; especially the White men often are tortured for hours, with slow barbed-wire strangulation and deliberate mutilation of their sexual parts while they are alive - and the female members of the White farmers' families are subjected to vicious gang rapes from which they are frequently left infected with HIV-AIDS, including very small children. (More than 55% of the South African population has been identified with HIV-AIDS, according to the United Nations.) The crime wave across South Africa has led to economic disaster. South Africa used to be self-sufficient and an exporter of food. This African country is one of the continent's very few that has always managed to feed its growing population, although it had only 60,000 farmers in 1991. But now South Africa has had to start importing staple foods such as maize for the first time in its history, and this year fewer than 40,000 commercial farmers remain.

South Africa was plunged into its most serious political crisis since the end of apartheid yesterday when three senior members of the ruling African National Congress were accused of plotting to kill President Thabo Mbeki. Mbeki loyalists within the ANC claimed the police had enough evidence to begin a full investigation into whether the three men "intended to physically harm Mbeki". No evidence was made public, amid fears that it was a crude political tool to discredit rivals to Mbeki, who has looked increasingly under threat after a series of public gaffes over AIDS and Zimbabwe. Opposition spokesmen were horrified, suggesting it smacked of the political tactics of unstable African nations and would damage South Africa's international standing. "This is more banana republic stuff than rainbow nation," Douglas Gibson, chief whip of the opposition Democratic Alliance, said. One of the three alleged plotters is Cyril Ramaphosa, a former secretary general of the ANC. Last night he issued the briefest of denials. The other two "co-conspirators" issued more combative denials challenging the authorities to make public any evidence. The allegations came in a press conference yesterday after days of rumour. Steve Tshwete, the country's Safety and Security Minister, named Ramaphosa, Tokyo Sexwale, a former premier of "Gauteng" (the PWV area) and Mathews Phosa, a former premier of "Mpumalanga" (South-Eastern Transvaal) as being under investigation by the police.

South Africa is an interesting country. I saw many parallels with Northern Ireland. The countryside is beautiful and the people friendly, but it is showing signs of an accelerating decline into anarchy. It is Rhodesia II. The Whites are leaving in their droves (1/6 since 1994); crime, particularly violent and sexual crimes against Whites, is increasing at an incredible rate; the economy is struggling to cope with ANC Government demands that all Blacks get free water, electricity, health care, homes and education (paid for by the decreasing number of White taxpayers) - the Rand has gone from R2=£1 to R11.7=£1 and still a lot further to drop; the White taxpayers are being pounded by rising taxes which simply increases their desire to leave - making the economy worse and adding to the vicious circle of higher taxation and yet more Whites rushing to leave. It will end up like Rhodesia/zimbabwe - reverting back to the wasteland it was before the Europeans arrived.

My daughter was in London most of last year, earning lots of Pounds and came back just before Christmas. She thought she might like to do vet nursing or a degree in zoology, so a few days ago we went to look at Pietermaritzburg University [UNP]. However, she is not sure if she wants to start studying again and is put off by the large amount of Black and Indian students. It's a pity as she has all the credits and would get in easily. It is not worth her while getting a job here as salaries are so low, one can hardly survive and also difficult to get a job, especially if you are White.

At least fifty people including one 11-year-old boy were crushed to death at a soccer match in Johannesburg last night when thousands of supporters ripped down a fence and surged into an already full stadium. Two of South Africa's most popular soccer teams - Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs - initially continued with the match at Ellis Park although bodies were already clearly visible dumped on the touchline. All 60,000 tickets had been sold but a large number of supporters had turned up hoping to get into the all-seat stadium. "The numbers on the outside were enormous and they ripped down the fence in a number of places," Police said. It appeared that too many tickets had been sold for the game. The disaster, said to be the worst in South African sporting history, could not have come at a worst time for local football authorities. The country was devastated when it lost the battle to hold the 2006 World Cup after a decision by FIFA delegates handed the tournament to Germany. After coming so close, the South Africans were favourites to host the World Cup in 2010. The only remaining hurdle for Danny Jordaan, the chief executive of the 2006 South Africa bid, was to persuade FIFA that his country was safe to welcome international players and fans.

Nine White members of a South African rugby club have been charged with murder after a Black teenager was killed while trespassing on a White-owned farm. An iron gatepost was tied to the body of 19-year-old Tshepo Matloga before it was dumped in a 100 ft deep reservoir. The killing is a setback to South Africa's attempts to rid itself of the divisions of the past, and there have been accusations that the police investigation was hindered by senior White officials. The nine rugby players, aged between 19 and 34, had finished Saturday morning training at the Noordelike Club in Pietersburg.

A "dead body scam" being run through state hospitals to claim insurance is being investigated by the Health Department's special investigation unit. Department spokeswoman Zodumo Mbuli said on Tuesday there is very strong evidence to substantiate claims of insurance fraud at the Grey's Hospital mortuary, from which at least one fake death certificate has been issued. The investigation revealed that an employee fraudulently entered details into the mortuary register, reflecting a patient who never attended the hospital, from a ward that was closed at the time. A false doctor's signature and an unauthorised form were used.

Gunmen shot dead a woman and injured a man and a police dog yesterday morning on the farm Elna in Greylingstad. Insp. Olga Ballot said Mr. William Botha, 59, and a friend, Ms. Irene Holder, 53, had arrived home from church at 10.30 am when the gunmen opened fire on them at Mr. Botha's home. Insp. Ballot said Ms. Holder was shot in the kitchen and died at the scene. Mr. Botha was shot three times but was able to return fire, injuring one of the attackers. Police caught up with three of the men later. One resisted arrest and opened fire, hitting a [police] dog. Meanwhile, a farm labourer, Amos Nkuna, 41, was shot dead on a farm in the Karino area, east of Nelspruit. Police said eight camouflage-clad men had confronted him. Brazen robbers, who had earlier attended a service of the Berea Christian Fellowship at the Durban Preparatory High School Hall, followed two deacons into a classroom where the money was to be collected, held them up at gunpoint and then handcuffed them and gagged them with masking tape. They ran away with about R25,000 according to the minister of the church, Pastor Dave Phillips. The men, who had been holding Bibles throughout the service and appeared devout, left the hall before the end of the service. They followed sidesmen Pax O'Brien and Hugh Neill into the classroom where they held them up at gunpoint and demanded the proceeds. The sidesmen, who were both elderly, were handcuffed - one so tightly that he had to be driven to the headquarters of the fire department for his hands to be freed. A 89-year-old Pinelands resident of Danish decent lost the "love of his life" in what the police described as the most brutal attack on Pinelands' elderly residents in recent weeks, the 12th to occur since November and the fifth such attack in March. Mr. Poul Nielsen's 93-year-old wife, Mrs. Anna Gerda Nielsen, was murdered and possibly raped by two men who prised their way into the couple's home on Saturday. Seven hours later the police discovered her naked body on the floor next to the couple's bed in their destroyed bedroom. Deep blue bruises had settled around her wrists and across her mouth caused by the ties they used to gag her. The killers, who stole only a few Rands, the couple's old Toyota Corolla, jewellery and some household items, are still at large.

South Africa's education minister [sic], Kader Asmal, has just brought out his new plan for higher education, in which he sets guidelines for university admission by race and gender, and threatens that, if these targets are not met, he will use his powers to enforce rigid racial quotas. The response of both the press and the universities was to praise the minister's plan as progressive and constructive. Nothing could better illustrate both the re-racialisation of South African society now in progress and the collapse of the liberal spirit within both the media and higher education. Throughout the 1950s and 1960s the English-speaking universities fought a long and bitter battle against the apartheid government's insistence on setting racial criteria for university entry. Now they not only do not resist it but also applaud it. Moreover, university autonomy has now been restricted to a far greater degree than under apartheid, and the academic community is simply too battered, too tired and often too scared to raise its voice.

Farm killers were being paid and trained in an orchestrated onslaught on the farming community, agricultural bodies suggested on Thursday. Evidence of this included an instruction video on farm attacks which was found in the possession of six farm attack suspects, said Werner Weber on behalf of three agricultural unions. He told reporters at Midrand, "I heard about this video at a meeting at police headquarters about two months ago. My impression was that it had been made locally." Weber said he had also obtained an internal police document referring to a Gauteng [PWV area] organisation that paid R2,000 for every farmer murdered. Hired killers were supplied with weapons. Weber chairs a committee dubbed Action Stop Farm Attacks that was formed last year by Agri SA, the Transvaal Agricultural Union, and the Agricultural Employers' Organisation. The committee last year collected 384,000 signatures to a petition against farm attacks. It also commissioned a team of researchers who found rural attacks were aimed at intimidating farmers into sharing or leaving their land. Weber suggested the training video indicated instruction material was being distributed among farm attackers. "A group of six farm attackers caught by police had in their possession a video which detailed how to carry out a farm attack." The police document on payments being maid to farm killers, Weber said, was given to him be "someone from the defence structures". Copies were given to reporters after the briefing. Dated April 4 last year, the document apparently originated from the Northern [Orange] Free State police and was sent to "the Farm Unit, Crime Prevention Unit and all other members on the ground". It reads, in part, "Information is received from an employee that a group of unknown Black men told him that they belong to a group named Black Jack from Johannesburg, and that they plan to kill all White employers (farmers). In exchange, the employees who commit these murders will receive R2,000 when the instruction is completed. Firearms will be made available to commit these crimes." Weber said "If this was a matter of mere criminality, why do these perpetrators wait for hours for the farmers to return, then torture the man and rape the woman, only then to kill the farmer?" Weber said 5,544 farm attacks had been recorded since 1991, which meant that every seventh farm household had already suffered an attack. A total of 1,044 farmers had lost their lives in this way since 1991. The annual average of attacks came to 800, amounting to between two and three a day. He said that this state of affairs left organised agriculture no option but to turn to the international community for help. "We are being killed like doves. We call on the international community to come to our rescue."

The incidence of TB in South Africa is more than double that in other developing countries and one of the highest in the world, parliament's portfolio committee on Health heard on Tuesday. Ian MacKenzie, executive director of the National TB Control Programme (Tadsa), a TB alliance NGO, said the rate of TB is increasing all the time, with a five-fold increase predicted by 2005. MacKenzie told the committee the rate of TB has doubled in most of the country's provinces in the past five years. He said the rate in South Africa is about 60 times higher than in the United States or Europe. MacKenzie said the national incidence in 1999 was 419 per 100,000 people - more than double that of other developing countries - and that it is increasing all the time. "New York declared a state of emergency when their TB incidence rate reached 50 per 100,000 in the 1980's," MacKenzie said. Dr. Karin Weyer of the Medical Research Council's TB Research Programme estimated that South Africa had 273,365 cases last year, of whom 45.7% were also HIV-positive. "Projections done by Dr. Weyer show that if the current trend continues, we can expect a five-fold increase by 2005, resulting in a case load in excess of 600,000, with more than 400,000 cases being directly attributable to HIV-infection," MacKenzie said. Dr. Refiloe Matji, the director of TB control programmes for the Health Department, said South Africa's cure rate of 62% falls short of the World Health Organisation's standard of 85%.

An estimated 4.7 million South Africans - one in every nine - were infected with HIV by the end of last year, according to a government report on Tuesday. The estimates are contained in the National HIV and Syphilis Sero-Prevalence Survey of women attending public ante-natal clinics, which is considered to be one of the best indications of HIV prevalence in South Africa. A total of 16,607 women who visited public clinics for the first time during their current pregnancy were tested, and these figures were extrapolated to produce a national estimate. The tests were conducted at 400 clinics in all nine [sic] provinces. About 24.5% of the women were found to have been infected with HIV by the end of last year. This figure stood at 22.4% in 1999, and at 22.8% in 1998.

Bodies in the hospital mortuary at Bisho are becoming bloated and beginning to decompose because only six of the mortuary's 12 fridges are working. Fear and insecurity are rife among people in some of the 28 old age homes which are threatened with closure as welfare services continue to decline in the country. The desktop research, coupled with personal interviews and questionaires carried out by East London based development planner and researcher Jenny Ketteringham over a six-month period, also revealed that some of the elderly were being abused and neglected. According to the research, reduced welfare support to homes in South Africa has resulted in cutbacks with about 50,000 beds declining to 26,000 beds over five years.

An application for bail from Cmdt. Willem Ratte could not be heard by him, the Magistrate for the Regional Court in the Northern Cape said today, and should be referred to a higher court. This in itself is again a strange decision, as the same court previously denied Ratte bail. In an even stranger move, Cmdt. Ratte's co-accused, who all got suspended sentences, today applied for leave to appeal on the SAME grounds that appeal was turned down for Ratte, and it was granted! The stink of a smelly rat becomes even worse when one considers the fact that "new" South African forces are seemingly working to blacken Ratte even before his defence has anytime to state Ratte's case to a higher court. Reliable sources say that a force of about 20 policemen escorted Ratte to the court and back to jail, because, according to State sources, there were rumours of someone planning Ratte's "escape". Meanwhile Ratte's defence council is waiting for a decision by Appeal judges on their petition to the High Court for leave to appeal against Ratte's sentence.

On Thursday 1st March 2001 a seven-year-old girl was waiting for her sister to finish school when a group of men abducted her and dragged her to a nearby ground where she was raped by six men. The girl eventually managed to CRAWL to her sister who was still at school and informed the teacher, who then took her to Addington Hospital. It was later established that one of the accused was the child's neighbour, and that two other men, aged 27 and 28, including a former POLICE CAPTAIN (recently medically discharged) are to appear in Verulam Magistrate's Court on 5th March 2001. The other three suspects are still at large.

In South Africa: a woman is raped every 28 seconds; doctors are leaving in droves; beggars live in the marble foyers of derelict banks; farmers are butchered in their fields; the parks and beaches have become killing fields; car-jackings are a daily occurrence; the murder rate is running at 27,000 a year. South Africa today has become a nation on the edge of self-destruction. Law and order have to all intents and purposes broken down in South Africa. The horrifying statistics for rape breed the kind of fear that has you leaping at shadows, jumping red lights and climbing out of bed in the middle of the night to check, yet again, that you have double-locked the doors. To protect your home even halfway adequately, it now seems that you need to pay an 'armed response' security firm. But whatever you do is never enough. One Black businessman said he had lost count of the numbers of his friends who had been mugged. Everyone is in the firing line. No social gathering can take place without horror stories being exchanged. But at this point we get some hint of the censorship that hitherto has been mobilised to keep as much as possible of the truth from the public gaze (presumably an increasingly difficult task in the ever-worsening crisis engulfing the country). A White security man commented on the criminal mayhem: "It's happening to your friends, your brother, his wife, your sister, your mother, but it isn't something you read in the papers or hear about on the television news any more." He carried a gun, but he wasn't fooling himself. He knew it could happen to him. In Mandela's 'Rainbow Nation' the dream is running blood red. Clearly South Africa's new ANC Government is almost neurotically aware that the legitimacy of its rule is at stake here. Nowhere is the situation worse than in Johannesburg, where it is exemplified in all its worst manifestations. Built on the largest seam of gold ever discovered, this was once the richest city in Africa, a gleaming steel-and-glass citadel rising out of the brown ocean of the Veld, a testiment to the economic power of the White community that built it, but also a example of what can be achieved by hard work and individual enterprise. And now? The skyscrapers are still there, but the people who gave them life and prosperity have gone, driven out by hordes of squatters, beggars and illegal traders who bought Mandela's promise of a 'better life for all' - and demanded instant delivery. Oil cans blaze in the marble foyers of what used to be the headquarters of banks and airlines. There are goats tethered in hallways. Corrugated iron huts have sprung up on the once-manicured lawns. This is not an environment in which any respectable business person, be they Black or White, can live or work - and most have fled. The country's flag carrier, South African Airways, has taken refuge in the distant outer suburbs. The big mining houses (which practically built the town) and even the Stock Exchange are to follow suit. It is evident they can hardly remain in a city centre in which it is unsafe for their employees to travel to and from work. The Carlton Hotel has closed and sold all its contents, and the Holiday Inn is a deserted fortress, its 800 empty rooms protested by reinforced steel shutters. All this is the tale of one of the world's major cities crumbling into chaos and dereliction, perhaps one day in the not too distant future to become as defunct as ancient Babylon. It is now impossible even to walk in any degree of safety to the South African Supreme Court building to get one's case heard. The alleyways leading to it are prowled by muggers who 'are not open to appeal'. 'Affirmative action' has led to the colonisation of the bench by magistrates who are illiterate, incompetent, corrupt and racially and politically biased, and routinely bail murderers and rapists back into the community to re-offend. Cases are never dealt with, crime explodes - no law, no order! As dusk falls the streets start filling with prostitutes and criminals pushing drugs, and pills that turn a black skin white - before eventually killing you (if AIDS hasn't claimed you first; up to 10% of the population is carrying the virus and three-quarters of the entire health budget will soon be spent on treating the incurable). You hear the occasional sound of gunfire rolling down from Hillbrow, by cruel coincidence Johannesburg's first integrated neighbourhood. To many this does not seem so much of a coincidence. The police keep promising to move in and clean the place up; they never do, and if they did it probably wouldn't make any difference; the Minister in charge of so-called securuty recently admitted to parliament that a policeman is three times more likely to commit a serious crime than an average member of the public. So what of the luckless Whites, themselves abandoned amid this chaos to the consequences of 'multiracial democracy'? This is not only a de facto displacement by conditions of social chaos which White people find utterly intolerable; this in itself has caused mass White migrations. In Johannesburg those who opt to remain in proximity to the city have retreated to its northern outer suburbs. But there is a mass movement back to Cape Province, the region of South Africa in which Europeans first touched land. It is estimated that in five years 80% of the country's Whites will be clustered towards the Cape. Even in the Cape there is now a project to establish at least one urban area, some miles into the interior outside Cape Town, which will in practice be a fortified settlement. With property priced beyond what most Blacks, and quite a few poor Whites, could possibly afford, it is, at the size of Monaco, to be protected by a 33,000-volt fence and patrolled by armed guards. In addition, fearful of lawlessness, the White population is also being harassed and persecuted by the law. The government has lost the battle of the streets but they have control of parliament, and they have used their power to pass legislation aimed specifically at one ethnic group. Instead of apartheid, there is now 'affirmative action', whereby Whites are de jure displaced from their jobs and deprived of their incomes to make way for Blacks, without regard for the latter's qualifications or abilities. The result? Air traffic controllers are now being appointed who cannot read their instruments. According to Commissioner of Police George Fivaz, 30,000 of his officers are "functionally illiterate." Working class Whites are now being dumped and paid a miserable dole to make way for Africans. For blue-collar Whites, the economic trap-door has opened beneath them and dropped them below the poverty line. Unemployed and never likely to be employed, their children ragged and barefoot, dependent on benefits of R150 a month each, which is often not paid (the social services are being 're-organised' - and there's a sinister phrase!). Some families can no longer afford to feed themselves. These now rely on church soup kitchens. Apparently, whilst the violently anti-White politician Patricia de Lille says that Tony Blair has donated £20,000 to a home for sick children for which she works, no-one is digging in their pockets to help poor Whites. They are off the end of Mandela's rainbow, without a pot of gold in sight. The Government in the new South Africa is intolerant of opposition. According to Democratic Party [Democratic Alliance] opposition leader Tony Leon, "they want everyone to be 'on side'. If you criticise them - and we do vigorously - they call you neo-Nazi racists (a strange epithet considering that Leon is Jewish). Free school lunches promised by Mandela fail to reach the children; family allowances are not paid; council houses are so jerry-built they are virtually uninhabitable. In a nutshell, then, we have an overview of the 'New South Africa' from which to take stock. What we see is a picture of vicious and exploding crime, of chaos verging on anarchy, of corruption and incompetence way beyond anything in the country's past, and of the racial harassment and persecution of the White minority - the people who actually built the country in the first place, and without whom there would have been literally nothing for their successors to take over and bring to ruin.

There have been recent reports that Red China has succeeded in forging strong cultural ties with South Africans. There are references to a series of arts festivals in Beijing this year, with South African artists having been invited. The truth is that the business community is following the example of the present regime for the sake of making a profit. This is why trade with Red China is getting preference, even if it means that South Africa's own businesses, like for instance the textile industry, is being negatively affected. The last Taiwanese [Republic of China] ambassador, I-Cheng Lo, said "Taiwanese businessmen are still eager to do business in South Africa, even is diplomatic ties have been broken by the present regime." However he reproached South African businessmen for failing to exploit the profitable Taiwanese market. Precisely now, while foreign investors are hesitant to invest in South Africa because of the corruption and administrative insecurity, it is almost inconceivable that eager investors from Taiwan are ignored. There is interest among textile manufacturers to invest here. In contrast to the disadvantageous trade with the Red Chinese from whom we are importing inferior clothing, the Taiwanese want to start job creating industries, which will stimulate our own export production. Poverty, which has systematically increased since the new regime took over in 1994, is one of South Africa's biggest problems. The government, hampered by its ideology and its trade union partners, is unable to succeed in alleviating poverty.

Angry commuters, protesting against the late arrival of trains, set fire to the Pretoria railway station last night, prompting a massive fire fighting operation that was set to continue all night. By late last night most of the roof of the almost century old Herbert Baker building had been destroyed in the blaze. Metrorail had previously decided that if there was no signal they would stop the train service so as not to compromise the safety of commuters. Buses were arranged to pick up commuters, but they became "agitated" and attacked six security guards on the platforms. The commuters then set fire to the building. Pretoria Emergency services said the damage amounted to millions of Rands. The whole roof is gone and the place is starting to collapse.

Seventy percent of South Africa's roads are in need of a whopping R65-billion for repairs, according to an Automobile Association report. The report says there has been a glaring lack of maintenance of roads over the past 10 years. Only 30% of the country's roads are considered to be in good condition. The declining condition of the roads has led motorists incurring twice as many costs in vehicle operation, accidents and travelling times on roads. The study found that in 1988 75% of the roads were in good or very good condition but in 1999 this percentage had dropped to 30%. On the other hand, roads in a poor or very poor condition increased from 5% in 1988 to 33% in 1999.

Hospital staff were also unable to provide the Natal Witness with a list of patients who went missing during the last few months. The surveyor, who asked not to be named, said he was working on the sewage outfall works when he smelt something rotten, which he thought was a dead dog. He said as he was trying to clear long grass out of his way when he stumbled on the almost skeletal remains, believed to be several months old. South Africa is to confiscate a White farmer's land in the first Zimbabwe-style property "redistribution" amid fears that the country is starting down Robert Mugabe's road to lawlessness. While the South African government said it was following the full letter of the law by preparing a seizure order for the 3,100-acre farm owned by Willem Pretorius, the local farmers' union accused it of fermenting "Zimbabwe-style unrest". Mr. Pretorius now faces an uncertain future. He has been offered £76,000 compensation by the government but claims this is "completely inadequate". Some White farmers in South Africa have agreed to move after a barrage of death threats. Boomplaats Farm was bought by Mr. Pretorius in 1980. "When I arrived there was nothing here," he said. "Not two bricks on top of one another, not one fence, no trees, nothing." He spent the next 16 years building up his cattle herd and growing fields of maize, until a letter arrived from the Land Claims Commission informing him that the Dinkwanyane community had registered a claim. "My biggest regret is that I will have nothing to pass on to my sons who were born here and only ever wanted to continue the work I started" he said. His situation had angered many other farmers around Lydenburg. "All those I speak to are very fretful," he said. "They see this as the beginning of the end for White farmers in this country." Pheo Wassenaar, from the Transvaal Agricultural Union, said the way the government was treating the White farmers was "a threat to the economy and democracy of South Africa". He added: "The state is using the law to do exactly what has been done in Zimbabwe. If the right to own private property comes under threat then it will be the end of the economy and democracy."

South Africa has been swamped by hundreds of international crime syndicates since the end of apartheid as gangsters exploit the dismantling of of the White-dominated police system. Steve Tshwete, Safety and Security Minister, said 400 gangs, mainly of foreign origin, had been identified operating in South Africa recently. Chinese Triads, Italian Mafia families and Russian gangsters were responsible for drug trafficking, protection rackets, arms smuggling and car theft on an almost industrial scale. Nigerians gangs organise much of the prostitution and drugs trade in Johannesburg. Crime is a huge problem in South Africa. A national car theft network was recently uncovered involving four corrupt police officers. Criminal networks have spread through most areas of South African society. Even in prison, criminal gangs remain active. Ben Skosana, the Correctional Services Minister, said there was evidence that the murder last year of Piet Theron, a judge investigating a series of bombings and shootings in Cape Town, had been organised from inside prison. Tony Leon, leader of the opposition Democratic Alliance, has led the campaign for the government to end its nine-month-old ban on publishing full crime statistics. "With this government it is always someone else's fault," he said. "They are evading responsibility."

According to the Institute of Race Relations a quarter of a million people died of Aids in South Africa last year. researchers say: South Africa's birth rate will lower by 31% between 1996 and 2016. The death rate will increase by 19% and the fertility rate will decrease by 30% during the same period. The average life expectancy will decrease from 65 years in 1998 to 48 years in 2010. About 6 million people were HIV-positive at the end of last year. This could increase to 8 million in 2005. About 50% of South Africans younger than 15 years will die of Aids in the next ten years.

In June last year the World Health Organisation found that South Africa has one of the worse health systems in the world. Even worse than in Afghanistan or Rwanda, South Africa was number 175 on the list and only sixteen other African countries were in a worse situation. In the meantime the situation has worsened, not only in aspects like state hospitals, ambulance services and clinics, but also regarding the reintroduction of illnesses which were totally or largely under control a few years ago. In November last year there was a crisis in the Johannesburg Hospital. The hospital was unable to handle the sudden increase in patients. The waiting list for some operations was longer than a year and patients died because of their inability to treat them. There have been reports about too little and unhygienic food, dirty bed-linen, theft of medicines and so forth. On 5th January it was reported that more than 14,000 people had already contracted cholera and that more than 60 people had died in Natal alone. In September last year the Human Rights Commission said South Africa is being devastated by the worst tuberculosis epidemic in history and that millions of children in the country suffer from malnutrition. Malaria, which was almost totally under control a decade ago, is now out of control in parts of Natal and it has increased drastically all over the country. Even sleeping sicknesss is increasing radically.

South Africa is to rewrite the history taught in its schools, ending the emphasis on "White" events such as the Great Trek and the frontier wars with African tribesmen. A commission entitled "SA History Project" has been set up by the education minister, Kader Asmal. A preliminary report into the state of South Africa's history syllabus found it had "male-dominated narratives; narrowness of vision; isolated treatment of SA history; excessive emphasis on discrimination against Black people as weak victims; neglect of the experience of rural people and workers; and little coverage of SA Black nationalists. But the report gave a warning that the version of history from the past should not be replaced by a more prejudiced version favorable to one ethnic group in South Africa. Opposition politicians agreed. "If it leads to the African National Congress's version of history being shoved down our pupils' throats, we could not support it," a spokesman for the opposition Democratic Alliance said. The move comes as plans are debated to change the name of Johannesburg to an African name such as Egoli which is Zulu for "place of gold". Egoli is the name of a popular soap opera in South Africa and some say it would devalue the city to use this name. "It would be like calling London 'Brookside'," said one disgruntled Johannesburger.

Hillcrest residents' household goods are "going for a song". That's according to Capt. B. Fourie of Hillcrest SAPS, who said criminals were exploiting the spirit of Christmas to prey on unwitting Hillcrest residents. "Christmas carollers sing in front of houses and, if nobody comes out, they rob the house. If people do come out, the carollers come behind you and into your home to rob it," said Capt. Fourie. He urged neighbours to chase carollers away and said residents did not have to give carollers money.

An "admission of guilt" document in which Whites "express regret about the consequences of apartheid" and "admit to their failure to take responsibility for the past" has raised the hackles of many Whites, who see the document as just another attempt to create a false guilt complex, while ignoring the ongoing genocide of Whites by the daily Black terror on the streets and in people's homes. The campaign to persuade as many Whites as possible to sign the controversial confession is headed by convicted terrorist and ANC/Communist politician Carl Niehaus. The first hundred signatories include Wilhelm Verwoerd, Andre Brink and other renegade Afrikaners. A staggering 10,000 "new" South African policemen, the vast majority of them Black, are HIV positive, according to the latest official projection. Farmers in the Middelburg district in the Eastern Transvaal "will no longer wait like mice for the falcon to swoop down and attack them", according to Gen. Koos van Zyl, Chairman of the Middelburg's Distriks Agricultural Union. He pointed out that the small White farmer's community of Middelburg had seen seven of their kind killed during the last two years. The killers were Black, and van Zyl said that virtually every day farmers are attacked, tortured and killed somewhere in the area. The slaughter and attacks on Whites by Blacks is continuing. Elderly farmer Robbie Robinson survived a vicious attack inside his farm store near Secunda in the Eastern Transvaal. Braam Pistorius was not so lucky. He was killed by another Black gang.

The ANC top-brass has been sent scrambling for cover and are refusing to renounce comments by the party's KwaZulu-Natal [sic] chairman S'bu Ndebele, who threatened vengeance against Africans, Coloureds and Indians who voted against the ANC this week, the Sunday Times reports. Ndebele, a member of the KwaZulu-Natal [sic] provincial cabinet, told ANC supporters in Durban that there would be "consequences" for those who voted for the Democratic Alliance. Speaking at a post-election victory rally in Durban, Ndebele said: "To all the Africans, Coloureds and Indians who voted DA, be warned that there's going to be consequences for not voting for the ANC. When it comes to service delivery, we will start with the people who voted for us and you will be last." This week ANC leaders, including members of the cabinet, refused to condemn Ndebele's statement. President [sic] Thabo Mbeki's spokesman, Nazeem Mahatey, said the question was "an ANC matter".

The end of the post-apartheid honeymoon enjoyed by the African National Congress in South Africa was signalled yesterday as local election results showed a significant decline in support for the party of Mandela. Early results showed the ANC's support at just above 55%, down from 66% polled in last year's general election. The main opposition party, the Democratic Alliance, formed this year out of remnants of the National Party that run South Africa for decades under apartheid and the liberal Democratic Party, polled more than 25%. In another sign of frustration, turnout figures showed that significantly less than half of the country's 18.4 million voters bothered to vote. After six years of ANC government many voters who supported the party have been disappointed by the poverty, unemployment and crime in large parts of South Africa. In a country where four million people are HIV-positive and with regional unemployment as high as 30%, macro economics is not enough to maintain electoral dominance.

Early figures in South Africa's local elections yesterday showed that the opposition Democratic Alliance was putting in a strong performance. Mandela gave an inflammatory speech in which he suggested non-White supporters of the Alliance were effectively "stooges" of a small White elite. After six years of ANC government, many voters who supported the party for its role in the struggle to end apartheid have been disappointed by the poverty, unemployment and crime.

The old capital city of Pretoria will be known as Tshwane after the latest Azanian local elections, according to Mandla Letlape, "transformation" manager for the new metropolitan area. Pretoria will be the name of a regional component of Tshwane but will reportedly also change. My daughter-in-law's cousin was mugged when she walked home from work at 5pm last week. Her brother comes to collect her after work, and they were both held at gun-point and robbed of a few Rand and their watches by 4 Black men. There is a shopping mall at the corner of Edwin Swales and Titren Road; she works at the mall and she stays in a flat in Rossburgh with her mum and brother. It is only about 2 km from the mall. A lot of the areas from Rossburgh to Queensburgh have deteriorated so badly that you wouldn't know the area. We live here and we see the decay, so for someone that comes here after a few years it is really an eye opener. My son-in-law and his brother were both surprised to see the decay. One went to Australia 3 years ago and the other went to Canada 20 months ago. They both returned here in July to see their mother and couldn't believe their eyes. My brother-in-law has always been positive that things will come right in South Africa, but he phoned recently and said that he has now come to the conclusion that things will not get better for a long time, and then it will be too late and take too long to repair the damage. He is a company director who travels around the world on a monthly basis, visiting the USA, Canada, the UK, Europe, India, the Far East and several countries in Africa, so he knows what he is talking about.

Well-informed agricultural sources said Geldenhuys had just completed successful wage negotiations this week - with one of the trade unionists who yesterday was amongst the five men arrested by police for his assassination shortly thereafter. Dr. Geldenhuys thus has become the 981st farm murder victim since 1994.

Corruption in South Africa has reached "epidemic" proportions, demanding hard-hitting laws and a more ethical environment, say business and political leaders. One reason why the courts are overloaded is the astronomical extent of crime. Black advancement has had a drastically negative effect on the standards of policing. Some policemen have become involved with crime gangs and syndicates. At the same time police stations are without transport, without telephones and sometimes even without ammunition. Corruption is rife. What is more, if the police had been more effective, the overload on the courts would have been worse! The government's solution for the crisis in the courts as well as for the overflowing jails is to set criminals free. About 11 thousand awaiting trial prisoners and thousands of prisoners which have already been prosecuted have been set free to alleviate the pressure. Add the thousands of criminals which have been set free to the unknown thousands which have not been caught or couldn't be prosecuted, and we see why South Africa is in a state of unbridled chaos regarding law and order.

On September 28, Nelson Mandela pleaded for help in fighting AIDS in his country. Mandela declared the spread of AIDS as "a crisis of a dimension which I cannot support in words." An August 31 editorial of South Africa's Daily Dispatch put it more bluntly: South Africa and its government "will stand or fall on its ability to successfully address two of our biggest problems: HIV/AIDS and poverty. But it is exactly these two areas on which the government has no clear policy." When the Mandela government came into power it promised the people more jobs, but its socialist policies came up empty-handed. Promises of better housing befell the same fate. Better health care delivery? That failed too. Instead, with one of the world's highest mortality rates from AIDS, South Africa and its people have reaped a bitter harvest. More, the Daily Dispatch editorial left out the third most pressing problem now facing South Africans: violent crime. It's just one more thing that the government would rather not have to deal with. Crime has gotten so bad that, according to an August 12 report from the Independent Online News, South Africans now face a blackout on crime statistics for a year or more. Today South Africa suffers one of the highest murder rates in the world, with 20,000 killings a year in a country whose population is 42 million. (The U.S., with about six times more population, has about half that number of killings.) Not helping matters is the fact that approximately 25% of the country's estimated police force of 120,000 is considered functionally illiterate. The connection between violent crime and AIDS in South Africa was underscored by "rape insurance" policies launched in November 1999. The "Rape Care" package offered by LifeSense, a medical benefits organization, "provides a top-up policy should the rape survivor become HIV-positive as a result of rape." Dr. Angus Rowe, a spokesman for lifeSense, stated that "in an environment where rape is so pervasive we need to extend protections to rape survivors in the families." Today rape in South Africa has been described by women's groups as occurring at a "shockingly high rate," and many cases are now routinely recorded simply as "robberies."

Superintendent Eddie Watson said Audrey Bartlett, 69, of Silvervale farm in the Bolo area about 30km from Stutterheim was asleep when a man wearing a balaclava switched on her bedroom light. He demanded money and Bartlett handed over a handbag with about R250. The next moment the man started stabbing Bartlett. She sustained wounds on the side of her head, under her eye, both arms, back and under the shoulder blades and had her left hand broken. Thabo Mbeki yesterday launched his party's election manifesto in the Karoo and pledged free basic services for the poor in those local governments led by the ANC. He also called for the area's development so that local women did not have to turn to prostitution. Mbeki's promise of free basic services was met with loud cheers from the largely subdued crowd at a soccer stadium. The supporters, who appeared not to know popular ANC songs in Xhosa, were finally cajoled into singing an Afrikaans favourite "Stamp die boude lam" as ANC MP Derek Hanekom tried to whip up enthusiasm. Speaking on the eve of the expected announcement of the election date, Mbeki honed in on the poverty and underdevelopment in the area and said an ANC local government would change all that. His speech was translated into Afrikaans by Hanekom so that the majority of the crowd could understand the president in their mother tongue.

Thabo Mbeki believes the United States Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) is part of a conspiracy to promote the view that HIV causes Aids. Mbeki also thinks that the CIA is working covertly alongside the big US pharmaceutical manufacturers to undermine him because, by questioning the link between HIV and Aids, he is thought to pose a risk to the profits of drug companies making anti-retrovial treatments. Mbeki fingered the CIA in his address to ANC MPs at a cuacus meeting in Parliament last Thursday. Mbeki also told the ANC caucus that the fact that South Africa under him was emerging as a leader of attempts by the developing world to get a better deal in the international economic system was a threat to the US and other major Western powers. In what was described as a "rambling" address, Mbeki said that if one agreed that HIV caused Aids, it followed that the condition had to be treated by drugs, and those drugs were produced by the big Western drug companies. The drug companies therefore needed HIV to cause Aids, so they promoted the thesis that HIV caused Aids, he said. Mbeki said his advisors were trying to find out who was spreading the idea that he was "deranged". These reports were clearly part of a campaign against him and his government. The struggle he and the government were waging for a better economic deal for developing countries and against the propaganda being put out by the drug companies and, covertly, the CIA were all linked, he said. MPs should not be afraid to take on these powerful international forces, he added. Mbeki's remarks last thursday disrupted desperate attempts by government spin doctors - both inside South africa and abroad - to lay to rest the HIV/Aids controversy in which the president has embroiled himself and to repair the battering Mbeki's image has taken.

His bones were apparently ground into pulp by barabaric followers of an African religion, presumably to make Aids medicines. In fact they were pertinent in making him realise that the attack was Black racism against an Afrikaner. This incident is one of hundreds.

Health care in the Eastern Cape is facing a crisis of frightening proportions and many hospitals are so cash-strapped they will not be able to pay for blood products, medication or laboratory fees next month. Hospitals claim their budgets are too small to cover essential personnel costs, and the most basic patient care is suffering as a result. By the beginning of this month, the cracks were beginning to show with hospitals unable to pay suppliers for essential medication, equipment and catering needs or even water and lights. Because of the severe budgetary constraints, doctors believe a secondary crisis is building up behind the scenes. There is no money for maintaining equipment and buildings. So "everything from elevators to x-ray machines" are deteriorating with no hope of them ever being replaced.

South Africans awoke yesterday to find full-page advertisements in their daily newspapers, the first salvo in a government campaign to defuse a deepening crisis over President Thabo Mbeki's eccentric views on Aids. The controversy over Aids, which Mbeki believes is caused mainly by poverty rather than HIV, has exposed the president's thin skin and his readiness to play the race card to defend himself. Such is the confusion that surrounds the Aids issue - with ministers at one point distributing excerpts from a crank theory that Aids in Africa is part of a conspiracy to wipe out Africans as a prelude to invasion by aliens - that many South africans worry that Mandela's political heir has become unhinged. One Johannesburg newspaper reported that South Africa's intelligence services had detected a plot by "foreign powers" to depose Mbeki and replace him with the former trade unionist Cyril Ramaphosa. Earlier this month Mbeki launched a tirade against the White opposition leader, Tony Leon, who has castigated him for neglecting sound scientific advice in favour of "quackery and snake-oil cures". The president was livid, saying the "White politician" who questioned his quest for an African solution was displaying "entrenched White racism that is a millennium old". Sandy Kalyan, a spokeswoman for the opposition Democratic Alliance, said she was shocked the minister appeared to be taking Cooper's views seriously. The blast was the seventh this year. To date no one has been arrested for the attacks, which began two years ago. Three people have been killed and 122 injured since June 26, 1998, when the attacks started. The blast, which occurred near the American Embassy, sent a sheet of flames about five metres into the air, according to a witness. It knocked over at least three people waiting at a bus stop about 15 to 20 metres from where the car was parked. A Black girl accused of shop-lifting was stripped to the waist and painted white. White shopkeeper Thelma Strydom grabbed the 14-year-old girl when she walked into a store in the quiet South African town of Louis Trichardt. She accused her of stealing on an earlier visit. Police say she frogmarched the terrified girl to the back of the shop, helped by two Black workers. Police spokesman Phuti Setati said yesterday: "It is our understanding that she allegedly ordered the Black workers to paint the girl. "They took off her blouse and painted her white from the waist up." The racist attack came as a conference in Johannesburg reopened a debate on apartheid, an issue which still haunts South Africa. Last year a Black farm worker was painted silver for trespassing on a White-owned farm, and only last Friday a Black building worker was tied to the back of a pick-up truck and dragged for over three miles to his death. The incidents show that South Africa remains a racially polarised society - with many Whites resentful about the loss of their privileges.

Former Border and Junior Springbok rugby player Dennis "Bull" Edwards was murdered at his home at Mpame near Hole-in-the-Wall on the Transkei Wild Coast yesterday. Police said Edwards, 70, was shot and killed in front of his 64-year-old wife, Nancy. Captain Khaya Gwayi said three men arrived at the house at 9am asking for work. Edwards owned a trading store and holiday cottages and also ran a brickyard. He told the men to return today. The men left and returned a few minutes later, two armed with pistols and the other with a knife. They demanded money. Before Edwards could respond they shot him in the head. They took his wife's wallet which contained an undisclosed sum of money and personal documents. Police from Umtata and Kwaaiman, assisted by dog units from Umtata and Queenstown, searched the area throughout the day but could not find the killers. Edwards, a front-row forward, was a member of the Junior Springboks who toured Argentina in the 1960s. He played for Swifts in Queenstown and represented Border in 100 games. The bodies of a Butterworth businessman Corrie Bezuidenhout and his wife were found dead in their bedroom by a visitor on Saturday morning. The motive for the killing is not known. An Umtata police sergeant was shot and killed at his Ngobozana home on Saturday evening. Police said the 23-year-old officer opened the door to a man who shot him in the head. He died instantly. His death brings the number of police killed in Eastern Pondoland alone to seven since the beginning of this year.

One of the guys that stays in our street came to see us on Wednesday, his son-in-law is a security guard, and they ride around with pay-rolls and money for the banks. He was shot in Pinetown in an armed robbery on Saturday morning. He is only 30 and they have 3 little boys. He is still in intensive care. He was shot 5 times in the stomach and leg. They think he might lose his leg. It is taking ages to get anything from Home Affairs these days. Their computers were off-line for 3 months in Pretoria and no-one did anything about it.

About 100 emaciated followers of mysterious Umtata-based cult matriarch Nokulunga Fhipaza were yesterday left high and dry by the woman who believes herself to be a God-ordained prophet named Noah and Abraham. For the second time this year, followers of Fhipaza locked themselves into their sexually segregated Mandela Park compound to await the end of the world. But, just as in April last year, the group, fuelled by a strict regimen of daily prayer sessions and marathon fasts that last between 20 to 30 days, waited in vain for the arrival of the ark. As before Fhipaza, who has unsuccessfully tried similar neo-pentecostal movements in Queenstown and outside Umtata, will be telling her fanatical followers they need more "fire" in their stomachs.

The proposed release of about 13,000 prisoners awaiting trial for petty crimes to reduce prison overcrowding received the full backing of delegates of "Correctional Services" in Johannesburg on Wednesday. In a declaration adopted at the end of the two-day conference, the delegates resolved to support the plan of the National Council for Correctional Services. Prisoners earmarked for early release are those who cannot afford the bail of R1,000 and less. The decision followed an earlier presentation by inspecting judge Johannes Fagan, who said an immediate release of about 12,000 such prisoners would alleviate the pressure on prison authorities. Fagan said the Ntabankulu Prison in the Eastern Cape was 400 percent overcrowded.

Looters are costing Durban ratepayers thousands of Rands for repairs to damaged traffic lights. A traffic department spokesman said that in most cases fittings, which cost R200 to replace, were being sold for a few cents. The looters were breaking the aluminium alloy housings that hold the green, amber and red lights, then removing them and the metal reflector plates and selling them as scrap metal. When the metal reflector plates were replaced with plastic, the replacements were broken, "apparently for spite", he said. In South Africa, Both Whites and Blacks Fail to Grasp the New Reality
Nadine Gordimer and Thabo Mbeki learn that good intentions are not always enough, says Rick Stengel

PLETTENBERG BAY, South Africa — New democracies tend to be a little oversensitive. Take South Africa. A conservative journalist here named Max du Preez recently referred to Thabo Mbeki, South Africa's president, as a "womanizer." I'm not going to reckon with the truth or falsehood of the accusation, but by the ANC's reaction, you'd think Mbeki had been called a murderer, a cheat, a fraud, a deviant and a liar — all epithets that Bill Clinton, and probably every American president, routinely gets called.

Some in the ANC called for special legislation to make such verbal attacks on the president illegal. That is not a very democratic response. The First Amendment is neither alive nor well here. But it's also the natural reaction of a ruling party in a fledgling democracy, a ruling party that doesn't always see much virtue — or advantage — in a free press, at least compared to free electricity or water.

No new democracy can be expected to embrace the robust American-style media, where pretty much anything goes. Nelson Mandela was wont to say that journalists are patriots too, and why shouldn't they do their part to help the home team? It's a fair question, but what I'm not sure the South African government understands is that journalists are also being patriots when they root out corruption and when they speak truth to power by pointing out when the government errs.

The hypersensitive reaction of the ANC was recently mirrored by one of the stalwarts of traditional South African liberalism, Nadine Gordimer, winner of the 1991 Nobel Prize for literature. The education department of Gauteng province (where Johannesburg is located) recently announced that Gordimer's 1990 novel, "July's People," was "not acceptable" for use in the prescribed list of books to be read by high school seniors. The committee described the book as "deeply racist, superior and patronizing."

Liberal South African whites reacted with amazement. It was as though a school board in America had said students were forbidden to read the Declaration of Independence — or "Huckleberry Finn," for that matter. Ms. Gordimer responded with high dudgeon similar to that of the ANC; she said that "if the selectors of fiction are looking for moral lessons against racism, few could be more telling than the situation in this novel."

I read "July's People" quite a few years ago, and I recall it as a story of a longtime domestic servant named July who rescues a white family from a kind of racial Armageddon by sheltering them in his own township world. Gordimer is a fine writer, but I'm afraid the committee's description of the book as an "anachronism" is on the mark. July amazes the complacent, well-to-do white family — and by implication the complacent well-to-do white reader — with his kindness, resourcefulness and wisdom. In other words, he's the classic "noble savage" of 19th- and early-20th-century literature. He may not be educated or know what a bell curve is, but his heart's in the right place. It is, in many ways, a moving book, but for a new country, a new African country, the depiction of an uneducated black servant who risks his life to save a spoiled rich white family is not exactly the kind of thing you want your black high school seniors to be reading just as they go off into the world.

But I'm afraid Ms. Gordimer just doesn't get it. Her hilariously self-righteous response — which reads like the sort of pretentious literary description that the book would get in Cliff Notes — shows that her own attitudes are as anachronistic as the idea of the noble savage. "The black servant takes full responsibility for the couple," she writes, "sheltering them among his own people; even if students miss the irony of the reversal of dependence — white now dependent on black — this act of non-racial human feeling and tolerance is glaringly evident."

Among his own people. White now dependent on black. What Ms. Gordimer does not seem to understand — like most of the well-heeled white families who populate this lovely resort town on the Indian Ocean where I'm staying — is that July's People are the people of this country, and that South Africa is now an African country. The sensitive moral register of the white readers of Ms. Gordimer's fiction — and I promise you, Ms. Gordimer had no black South African readers — doesn't much matter anymore. Whites no longer have to be persuaded that blacks should have power; blacks have the power. That doesn't mean there's no place for white folks in South Africa, it just means there's no place for old-fashioned patronizing thinking.

South Africa's Coming Race Wars

   From Jan Lamprecht <pbs@iafrica.com
2-10-1

This is a MUST-READ for South Africans. Take the time, and read it to the end - the kicker is right at the end. If any of you get the chance to talk to any blacks, you must please try and question them about this - and please let me know what you hear. I would like to encourage you ALL to do some digging. I want to try to establish how widespread this is and how long it has been going on.

I was stunned today when my mother told me of a discussion she had with the gardener who works for us. He's a nice old black guy. We never talk politics with him.

However, Mum told me that she was talking to him the other day when he mentioned that on the African radio stations they have been hearing them saying this:

"A time is coming when the blacks will take the white's furniture, their houses and their cars."

The gardener told Mum that the blacks were talking among themselves about this, and they were saying they don't know how this is going to happen, but they believe that the Government knows better and they will wait to see what the Government does...

That sent chills down my spine. That's just like what that old prophet Van Rensburg spoke of.

In fact, what I'm now going to do is try to see if I can get more information out of blacks everywhere regarding this. There have long been suspicions that the news the blacks hear, in their native language, is different to what we hear. They are told other things.

There have been rumours of this for a long time, but, it looks like this really is going to happen to us. This is chilling stuff... please let me know what you find out.

South Africa's Coming Race Wars

By Jan Lamprecht pbs@iafrica.com  2-10-1

Many people are fooled by words. It is ironic that words, which are normally used to communicate with, can also be used to deceive and fool people or to convey subtle messages. Most people are completely surprised by this because most people are, for the most part, straight-forward and honest. Lawyers, for example, are a group of people who are very skilled at this misuse of language. Many lawyers then go on to become politicians where they excel at this abuse!

But, words can be used as weapons. The military use of propaganda is both an art and a science of the highest order. A great deal of work has gone into this. Words can be used to excite one group of people to foment hatred and anger while cowing another group of people down and lulling them into a false sense of security. This is the art of Psychological Warfare and Propaganda.

Here in Southern Africa, all the "Liberation Movements" which were sponsored by the Russians and Chinese have gone on to become the Governments of the day. These Liberation Movements have all been schooled in the art of propaganda and psychological warfare. They know how to say things and also how not to say things.

In fact, even the word "Liberation" is an example of propaganda. These people are portrayed as "Freedom Fighters" and "Liberators" when in fact their aims are to feed everyone, black and white alike, a good dose of socialism and centralised control. Overtly they claim to be in favour of freedom but, covertly, the opposite is true.

These people are skilled at portraying themselves to the world as reasonable men, when in fact, they have much blood on their hands and won't hesitate to murder their own or their enemies at the drop of a hat. It may seem ironic, but these "Liberators" killed more black people than the whites ever did.

Bit by bit people outside Africa are starting to realise that this new generation of Black Liberators are not sincere people. Slowly, people in Western countries are realising that something is amiss. One day they will realise that they've been lied to.

The Black Leaders talk of creating a prosperous multiracial society when in fact they have no interest in such a thing. On the quiet they tell their supporters to murder the whites, make things hot for them and encourage them to flee the country. At a Governmental level, the Government turns a blind eye to crime and in fact makes rules which will cause crime to increase. These Marxists would never DARE say so in public, but they are sick of the whites and want them to leave the country.

When leaders such as Thabo Mbeki speak of the "transformation" of society - what does he really mean?

Let me quote from the book: "PROPAGANDA & PSYCHOLOGICAL WARFARE", written by T. H. Qualter of the University of Waterloo. On page 106 we read this: "In its actual operation Russian propaganda has been characterised by a distinctive use of language described with fair accuracy as 'semantic warfare'. The language of Communism... is not so much a means of explaining to the unbeliever what Communism means, BUT AN ARMOURY OF WEAPONS AND TOOLS INTENDED TO PRODUCE SUPPORT OR DISSOLVE OPPOSITION TO COMMUNIST POLICIES ON THE PART OF PEOPLE EITHER HOSTILE OR INDIFFERENT TO THEM. THE MEANING OF A COMMUNIST WORD IS NOT WHAT YOU THINK IT SAYS, BUT WHAT EFFECT IT IS INTENDED TO PRODUCE." (My emphasis)

Qualter continues:- "In addition to their characteristic 'special' vocabulary... Communists also use familiar words and phrases, but they use them in a particular way, often distorting their reference to confuse both home and foreign opinion. 'Peaceful Coexistence', for example, carries to western minds the connotation of toleration and mutual respect, an attitude of 'live and let live'. IN MARXIST TERMINOLOGY HOWEVER, PEACE DEMANDS THE DISAPPEARANCE OF THE CAUSE OF THE CLASS STRUGGLE, SO THAT 'PEACEFUL COEXISTENCE' IMPLIES A WORLDWIDE 'CLASSLESS' COMMUNIST SOCIETY. When eighty one Communist parties met in Moscow in December 1960, they publicly announced that 'Peaceful Coexistence' meant "THE INTENSIFICATION OF THE STRUGGLE OF THE WORKING CLASS FOR THE TRIUMPH OF SOCIALIST IDEAS", rather than "the conciliation of bourgeois ideologies'." (My Emphasis).

The above simple example should show that the Marxist definition of "peace", for example, is not peace in the terms in which we think. "Peace", in their view, can only occur when they defeat us. It is in this manner that one must take a closer look at Marxist pupils, such as Mugabe, and Mbeki (who used to be a card carrying member of the South African Communist Party). These people are highly skilled at "Communist speak". They use words in a very deliberate, and yet misleading way. Only their true followers understand exactly what they are getting at. These are not sincere people.

A word that is over-used in South Africa, Africa and indeed the world is "democracy." Everyone believes that "democracy" is good and must be striven for. All countries, it is felt, should aspire to "democracy." Only "democracy" is good. Everything else is bad. "Democracy" is the buzz-word of today, and yet, Qualter had this to write about the propagandistic use of the word "democracy" by Marxists:-

"Again, 'democracy' is a prestige word; so the Soviet satellites become 'democracies', but 'People's Democracies' to distinguish them from the 'decadent bourgeois democracies' of the West."

He continues:- "When the Soviet Union advocates democracy, it is advocating a proletarian democracy UNCONTAMINATED BY REMNANTS OF THE CAPITALIST CLASS. 'COLONIALISM' IS IPSO FACTO A PRODUCT OF CAPITALIST IMPERIALISM AND IS NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH A SOVIET-INSPIRED NATIONAL LIBERATION MOVEMENT."

From the above, it should be obvious that "democracy" in the terms of our "National Liberators", like Mugabe, and Mbeki, EXCLUDES US WHITES WHO HAVE CAPITALIST VALUES AND ASPIRATIONS. "Democracy", in the Marxist view, is more than just voting. It is a whole new society. Note, in the above, the mention of Colonialism and how it too is capitalist - and therefore there is no place for it.

Just because the ANC has never murdered us in our beds does not mean it will never happen. Until last year, whites in Zimbabwe had not been driven off their land by masses of black thugs - and yet, it happened out of the blue. As far as Mugabe is concerned, its not over yet. He wants to drive all the whites off the farms even if it means national starvation and suicide. Remember, South Africa's history has a number of parallels and similarities to that of Zimbabwe. The two countries have a lot of things in common. Things that have happened in Zimbabwe have yet to happen in South Africa. People used to say South Africa would never be ruled by blacks, and yet it is now ruled by Marxist blacks. One should never say the blacks will not attack us. The only reason they probably have not is because too many of us are armed and they aren't strong enough - but give them time. They keep on changing the gun laws and are working overtime to disarm us. The key issue is to discern whether the leadership of this country is hell-bent on engaging in attempted white genocide at some point in the future. Are they hostile enough towards us to try that?

When the ANC uses soft words like the "transformation of society" then we should beware - these words sound soft, but they mean something else completely different. These words really mean: "We must continue moving towards a black-dominated Marxist/Socialist system."

It has long been the view in South Africa, across the spectrum of black and white public opinion, that Nelson Mandela is more trustworthy than Thabo Mbeki. Indeed, when Mbeki was still the Vice President, there were many rumours that he was something of a dark horse, and that in fact he was a dangerous man with a hidden hostility to whites.

A biography of him written some time ago stated that even within the ANC he was ruthless and that he had climbed to his present position by knifing others in the back.

My personal opinion of Mbeki was formed many years ago when the ANC was first unbanned. I watched with great fascination when he first appeared in an SABC TV interview. I was very impressed with Mbeki's smoothness. The honey was dripping from his lips as he described a wonderful future for blacks and whites under ANC rule. His descriptions were so flowery and beautiful that I felt he was describing heaven on Earth for all of us. In fact, the ANC has continued with this view by campaigning under the slogan: "A better life for ALL." They always keep telling us that the better life is not just for the blacks, but in fact also for the whites too!!

However, underneath this facade of friendliness, lies something else. Mbeki is a man who says one thing, but does another. If one looks closely at him, there is indeed a hidden hostility to the whites which I personally find very frightening.

Take for example Robert Mugabe's campaign against the white farmers in Zimbabwe in 2000. While the world was condemning Mugabe, Mbeki's ANC was strangely quiet. In fact, he even went to Zimbabwe to open a Trade Fair there during that time. He never criticised Mugabe and was in fact seen being very friendly to Mugabe. Not only that, but Mbeki praised him saying that the most important thing he learnt from Mugabe was how crucial BLACK UNITY was. In this one cannot fault either of the two. Both Mugabe and Mbeki have worked hard over the years to unite the blacks under them, by hook or by crook. They have used both the carrot and the stick. At times they have used force, murder and terror, but at other times they have also given the blacks who oppose them important positions in government.

For example, Dr Buthelezi, the leader of the Zulus, used to be aligned with the whites. Buthelezi was pro-Western, and supported the whites, as well as having many whites in the ranks of his political party. Buthelezi used to be a critic of the ANC. However, as a conciliatory gesture, he was sworn in as the Acting State President one time when the President was not in the country. He was also given a token position inside the Government. These gestures have softened Buthelezi. Nowadays he tows the line quite happily. I have also noticed that a number of ANC "defectors" have entered Buthelezi's politcal party where they have made themselves at home and are slowly transforming his political party into something more acceptable to the ANC.

Similarly, a black man from the small, radical, AZAPO party was given a ministerial position recently, even though this is actually illegal. This should be seen for what it is: the ANC making a magnanimous gesture towards other blacks.

What nobody in South Africa has noticed is how the ANC is moving to bring ALL the blacks under their wing while excluding the whites. Here we see sheer racism in action.

The ANC's biggest political opposition is the Democratic Alliance which is white-dominated. The DA does not get the same magnanimous treatment which the black parties get, even though, constitutionally and legally it is entitled to such. In fact, the DA should be the first in line for such actions since it is the official opposition.

Mugabe did a similar thing in Zimbabwe. He tried to crush his black political opposition. When murdering entire villages and throwing people down wells did not work, he gave them a carrot. He made their leader, Joshua Nkomo, the vice president. In this way Mugabe finally achieved the black unity he sought.

Mbeki and Mugabe are out to form a front against a "common enemy" - the white man.

Let it be said that the average black person in the street, in both Zimbabwe and in South Africa, does not truly comprehend the evil intentions of the Marxists they have chosen as their leaders. The average blacks are, for the most part, not filled with intense hatred or bitterness. However, their leaders spend much time sowing the seeds of race hatred among them. These common people do not realise the crimes to which they are being led by the leaders they have chosen and trust.

In a WorldNetDaily article some months ago, I recorded how Mbeki tried to use the AIDS situation in South Africa as a means of trying to foment new race hatred. Mbeki came out and supported Professor Duesberg's controversial theories and then immediately used this as a pretext to say that the reason AIDS was so prevalent in South Africa was because of the terrible treatment the blacks had received at the hands of the whites! Mbeki's embarrassing foray into the world of AIDS and the science behind it had nothing to do with a desire to find the truth. Behind the facade science lurked a desire to promote race hatred and to find ever more reasons to blame the whites for all the ills of the blacks.

Mugabe has been on a similar kick for the last 20+ years. Even after handing over power to him, and in spite of experiencing heinous taxes, the whites nevertheless keep the country afloat. The whites manage, against great odds, to keep the country going even though Mugabe is a Marxist who is trying to destroy them at every opportunity. It therefore came as a great embarrassment to him when the whites began winning credibility among the black populace. Most blacks in Zimbabwe state openly that Mugabe must not blame the whites for the ills of the country because it is a lie.

Here in South Africa, one never hears the end of the word "Apartheid" even though it disappeared more than 10 years ago. These people never miss an opportunity to blame the whites for something. They keep referring to 400 years of development as 400 years of "destruction." This is nonsense as any casual glance at a history book will show.

Prince Charles, in England, once referred to "Political Correctness" as "Intellectual Communism" - which is what it really is. In the PC world, it is completely frowned upon to call a black man "racist". And yet, if one looks at Mugabe, he must indeed be the most racist black man on the planet. Mbeki, very grudgingly, says a few things to placate the whites, but one can see that he does it only out of sheer necessity and nothing else.

In his opening of parliament speech the other day, Mbeki said that the whites still have too many jobs and the blacks too few. The whites owned too much and the blacks too little. This "imbalance" would have to be "corrected". Clearly, Marxism and socialism lies at the heart of his economic policies.

That Mbeki has no real interest in the economic progress of South Africa is evidenced by his remarks at an economic congress at Davos in Switzerland recently. This was Mbeki's big chance to produce a "blue print" for saving Africa. Yet, when he got there he had nothing concrete to propose. He merely stated that peace and "democracy" (a code word for Marxism) first had to be brought to Africa. Only then, once the political system had been stabilised, could there be economic development. These were strange words for a major leader in a continent which is a virtual cesspool of crime, corruption, poverty, etc. Mbeki, and the leaders of other Marxist states, like Tanzania, had no real interest in the economic welfare of their own people. All they are really concerned about is that their Marxist buddies, like Kabila and Mugabe, are firmly entrenched in power.

One would have expected these leaders to be falling over themselves begging for investment from the West and making new rules so that investment in Africa could occur more easily. And yet, the leaders of this continental cess-pool only paid lip-service to this.

Why don't these leaders care? What's going on?

Its class warfare pure and simple. Take a look at Mugabe. Mugabe prefers to murder the successful white farmers and to force them off their farms. He encourages and whips up hatred against them and encourages vandals to destroy their property, rape their wives and murder them. When Mugabe addresses black crowds in their native African languages he PRAISES these criminals and ENCOURAGES them. But, when TV cameras are focussed on him and the world waits to hear what he has to say, he speaks in English and CONDEMNS these people. As a native of Africa, I have OFTEN heard that these black Marxist leaders say one thing to the international community and to journalists, but, when they address their own people in their own language, they say something completely different. To the world at large, they pretend to be reasonable, peaceful people, but, to their own followers they say something else. Obviously, they are lying to someone - but to whom?

Mbeki and the ANC officials do exactly the same here in South Africa. ANC officials have long told the black people that white South Africans invented AIDS so as to murder them! Many, if not most blacks actually believe this. The ANC constantly puts out a stream of anti-white propaganda. ANC officials have said some dreadful things but these things NEVER reach the international media. It was once mentioned, by the journalist, Jani Allen, that an ANC official told blacks to kill the whites. Not long ago, the ANC Secretary General, gave a speech wherein he told the blacks to prepare for the struggle against CAPITALISM!

For decades now, I have heard that the blacks have been instructed to IGNORE what their leaders say in English, but to follow whatever they tell them in their own language...

Just as Mugabe was holding news conferences condemning the violence and murder of white farmers, the Zimbabwe Army was loading truck-loads full of thugs and transporting them to farms to start more violence! Such is the hypocrisy!

Mbeki is a close friend of Mugabe, and I believe he supports him 100% in what he did against the white farmers. When the Europeans sent election monitors to monitor the Zimbabwean elections they found extensive intimidation and many irregularities. The Europeans believed the election was stolen. But then Mbeki sent a South African team and they came back and declared (after some wrangling) that the Zimbabwean elections were free and fair! Thus we can see how Mbeki props up and helps Mugabe where he can. There was another instance, in 2000 where Mbeki "gave" Mugabe money. It was done in a strange way. South Africa "ordered" a great deal of produce from Zimbabwe. South Africa paid over tens of millions. Then, suddenly, the order was "cancelled" but Zimbabwe kept the money - and nothing further was said about it.

An ANC official then declared that there would not be the same problems with farmers here in South Africa because all the white farmers would be DEAD by then!

There is an ongoing and clandestine war against farmers in South Africa on a scale that is unbelievable. I have never obtained the exact statistics but thousands of farmers and their wives have been murdered - often in horrific ways. The international media say nothing about it - but its been going on ever since the ANC came into power and it keeps on getting worse.

It is common knowledge that South Africa's crime rate is the highest in the world. But then a year ago, the ANC suddenly put a moratorium on the public release of all crime statistics. Mbeki falsely claimed recently that crime had gone down. It turns out that only the murder rate has dropped slightly. All other crimes have exploded by anything from 20% upwards. To date, no new statistics have been released. It was announced that soon, new statistics would indeed be made available. However, the ANC stated that the manner in which these statistics were compiled was "wrong" and that now they would be counting them "correctly!" So it would seem that we are about to have newer, Government fudged figures... Smells like a rat doesn't it?

Well, there are lots of such things going on these days in the ANC dominated Government. Ministers tell outright lies, and this includes Mbeki himself. When Judge Heath obtained information that high-level government officials were involved in massive corruption in South Africa's huge arms purchase, Mbeki went on TV and told the nation that he had fired Heath. Apparently, his action was illegal because Judge Heath had been appointed for a certain period of time. Furthermore, it turns out that a diagram, used by Mbeki, which he claimed originated from Heath, had actually been drawn by a journalist. The journalist owned up to this afterwards. The ANC has been engaging in a massive coverup of corruption over this questionable arms deal totalling R43 billion - the biggest arms purchase in South African history. No one knows why the ANC has spent this tremendous amount of money on arms we have no need for. What does the ANC know that we do not?

These Marxists, Mugabe & Mbeki, are making long-term preparations for a race war which they intend winning.

I do not believe that either of them were ever truly interested in a multiracial society unless the whites just kept their mouths shut. I believe that both Mbeki and Mugabe are irked by the ongoing white criticism of their (incompetant and corrupt) rule. The whites, being capitalist and westernised by nature, are constantly resisting black moves towards socialism and communism. This is irritating to these leaders. They are tiring of the whites.

I believe that the whites have also proven to be tougher than they ever believed. I believe these Marxists HOPED that the whites would flee the continent en masse when the blacks took over. But the whites did not. Many whites remain in spite of tremendous taxes and the most intrusive laws in the world. For example, all banks, stock brokers, employers, etc MUST report all payments of salaries, dividends, etc directly to the Revenue Service. If you have a bank account and earn interest on it, and do not declare it, then the Revenue Service will know about it and take legal steps against you. The Revenue Service has also begun monitoring EVERYTHING we own. If we buy a car or a house, they know about it. They are coming after us to strip us of what little we have.

I believe that the Government has deliberately created lax laws to encourage crime and to make it "hot" for the whites so that they would flee. They have succeeded to a great extent because whites have been fleeing from Africa since the 1960's and these black leaders seem to have little interest in reversing the trend. I believe it is because they actually want the whites to leave. They would never dare admit this publicly, but I believe they quietly rejoice at this.

It has come to light that now South Africa is one of the foremost stop-overs for drug-trafficking in the world. Billions of rands worth of drugs pass through South Africa to North America and other destinations.

It has been said that white South Africans have the FASTEST FALLING STANDARD OF LIVING IN THE WORLD. This is because these Marxists are coming after us to strip us of all that we own.

Clearly, these Marxists, Mugabe and Mbeki have no idea how to actually fix the economy or to encourage investment so that black and white may live and prosper together. (This is also true of Sam Nujoma in Namibia). Their failed ideologies therefore leave them with only one option - to play the role of the Red Robin Hood. Since they are incapable of producing anything new they must therefore steal from the "rich" to give to the poor.

Land has been redistributed to blacks on big scale in both South Africa and Zimbabwe, and land claims are processed regularly. Whites have been fired from their jobs and racial quotas instituted. Companies pay huge fines if they do not have the right racial quota. Experienced people are sacked to make way for the inexperienced or even the downright incompetant merely because of racial quotas.

Nowadays in South Africa one finds whites sitting on street corners begging. Such is the lot we are heading for. Our hard times are coming.

This week I heard something else that really struck home to me. My Mother and I were chatting and she remarked that she heard something interesting from the old black man who helps in the garden from time to time. My Mother never discusses politics with him. However, last week he remarked that blacks have been hearing on the radio that the time is coming when the blacks will be able to take all the whites' furniture, their houses and their cars! He remarked that the blacks have been talking among themselves and wondering how this is going to be achieved. He says that they are not exactly sure how it is going to happen, but they have faith that the Government knows what its doing.

Having heard of this, I will continue digging into it to try to find out how long the blacks have been told this. This is clearly happening on the black radio stations which are in their native languages. It seems as if Mbeki is sowing the seeds and preparing them for the big "Redistribution of White Wealth" - when, as before, the Red Robin Hood comes to steal from us to "give to the poor."

As a final, and chilling thought, some months ago I wrote an article for WorldNetDaily describing the prophecies of the old Boer prophet, Van Rensburg. Van Rensburg died in 1926, but he predicted that the day would come when the blacks would rule South Africa. He predicted that all the whites would be driven out of Zimbabwe and they would flee to South Africa. He also predicted that the blacks in South Africa would eventually take EVERYTHING from us and try to kill us all. But, Van Rensburg predicted that they would not succeed and that we, the whites, would eventually take complete control of South Africa. According to him all these events will happen in an election year. The next election year in South Africa is: 2004.

Its all food for thought...

South African government wants draconian Internet censorship law

HI Ralph

Will you kindly send this message along to all true democrats and freedom-loving people? It is about the draconian new Censorship bill proposed by the ANC government. According to the proposed Bill, EACH AND EVERY form of communication can be monitored by Big Brother if it is deemed to be a "danger to the State". This includes your mail to me, and can extend to monitoring of international phone calls, and the tracking of the movement of individuals.

Notice also the feigning of "democratic process": written objections, 30 copies of objections, only three weeks to do it, no public hearings or meetings, etc.

Kindly remember that the ANC government holds absolute power, just like Bob Mugabe does in Zimbabwe. They have a two-thirds majority in parliament. No Bill proposed by them has ever been turned down.

Regards

South African government wants draconian Internet censorship law

(from the South African anticensorship site: http://www.censorbugbear.com )

JULY 22, 2001 -- A most serious matter has come to the attention of the many members of the anti-South African censorship site http://www.Censorbugbear.com  -- namely the truly draconian censorship law quietly being introduced by the South African regime -- and which will severely censor, curtail, eavesdrop on, monitor, intercept and in fact completely regulate all the country's Internet and postal communications dealing with South Africa and the rest of the world.

Moreover, South African citizens have only been given three weeks to object to this proposed Bill by August 13 -- the bill had been quietly introduced into the majority-Parliament last Friday and thus far, no such Bills have ever been rejected if they were sponsored by the ruling African National Congress party.

If South African citizens still value their own Constitutional rights to freedom of speech, and value their current free access to all the Internet information they need -- -- they must object to the SA regime -- in thirty copies -- before 13 August 2001. That's all the time this regime has allowed to register your formal objections to this proposed infringement upon your freedom of speech! They may not even hold public hearings about this!

OBJECT TO THIS PENDING DRACONIAN INTERNET CENSORSHIP LAW NOW! The parliamentary bill (details on link: http://www.polity.org.za/govdocs/pr/2001/pr0718c.html) named the Interception and Monitoring Bill, has already been quietly introduced to parliament, and referred to the regime's justice and constitutional development committee "for consideration".

This Bill will allow the regime to stop, monitor, censor, intercept and regulate all internet and postal communications between South Africa and the rest of the world. These draconian measures are identical to those recently taken by the People's Republic of China.

South African citizens aren't given much time to object, either -- anyone wishing to write objections or speak up against this proposed internet censorship Bill, must do so now as the government has only allowed citizens to object no later than 13 August 2001 -- and please do send THIRTY copies of each objection in writing...

Everyone who values their freedom of speech and freedom of access to all information, including all the Censorbugbear members, their friends and relatives are therefore urgently urged to immediately object to this very serious attempt to infringe upon the South African citizen's constitutional rights to free access of all information, including on the internet!

The committee may not even hold any public hearings about this if South African's don't object to this gross infringement upon their constitutional rights.

All correspondence including requests for copies of the bill, must be sent in 30 copies, and marked to the attention of Ms Collette Herzenberg (email: cherzenberg@parliament.gov.za ) or Ms Zodwa Zenzile, (email: izenzile@parliament.gov.za ; fax 021-462-2142); with the written objections IN THIRTY COPIES formally addressed to these people c/o The Secretary to Parliament; PO Box 15; Cape Town; 8000

also, send your objections to this proposed South African law to the Global Internet Liberty Campaign: gilc@gilc.org ; link: http://www.gilc.org/

The Rhodesian Example

by Michael Peirce

Some of us have suggested that blasting the Taliban into oblivion and occupying the entire country of Afghanistan just might not be the most effective way to destroy the Al Qaida terrorists. For this we have been called a lot of names and the unjustified assumption has been made that those of us who think that way must either be wimps or "soft on terror." Since I am neither of these things I’ve concluded that maybe some folks don’t realize that there actually other tactics available that are both more effective in hurting the terrorists and more consistent with the classic Christian interpretation of the "just war." I remain dumbfounded that we began our attack on Al Qaida by wasting all that ordnance on the people who had not staged the attack upon us, giving the real enemy time to organize themselves and scatter.

My take on it has been from the beginning – attack the guys who did the "stunt" and tell the Taliban to stay out of our way. Make it plain that staying out of our way is very conducive to staying alive. Having divided Al Qaida from their hosts, hit them with whatever ordnance is available and do it right away. Is this totally unrealistic? Let’s review the facts of how real soldiers dealt with real terrorists and see just how plausible this tactic can be.

It was the despicable Jimmy Carter that joined our nation to the unholy alliance with the Soviet Union, Great Britain, and Communist China and openly helped brutal and murderous communist bandits take down western cultures in southern Africa. Yep, that really happened and those of you who wander why some of us aren’t so quick to jump on the government bandwagon need to consider this.

Despite the overwhelming force arrayed against them, the tiny, embattled country of Rhodesia gave the world an object lesson in how to fight terrorism. In 1978 the Rhodesians were to up the ante and show us all just what the term "economy of force mission" is all about.

The terrorists were staging in Zambia and had several large base camps near Lusaka. There were thousands of them in these base camps and they were well organized and well equipped. The crazed fanatics at the United Nations had embargoed Rhodesia while apostate Christian organizations like the World Council of Churches had joined with other liberals and left-wing extremists to supply and nurture these murderous terrorists. One might ask that if the United States was really engaged in a Cold War with the Soviet Union at that time, and if the security of our country and the free world really was on the line, then weren’t the actions of Jimmy Carter and the organizations noted on the order of high treason? Just asking…

It’s interesting to note that Rhodesia, a country with no interest whatsoever in South East Asian affairs, was one of the very few of our so-called allies to offer to support America in Vietnam with troops. They had been our allies in World War II and while the ill considered and murderous war in Vietnam was hardly a noble cause, the Rhodesians had none the less offered us their support simply because that is what allies do. Or used to do. The Rhodesians, like the Serbs, have learned that "ally" means something different to Americans than what it meant to them.

For more on the history of Rhodesia including information on the Tribal Trustlands, Unilateral Independence, and race relations in general please refer to The Case For Rhodesia. There is a nice capsule history of the Rhodesian military here: History of Rhodesian Army.

The short version is that during the first few years of freedom following the Unilateral Declaration of Independence from Britain Prime Minister Ian Smith’s "renegade" government was one of the most ably managed and least governed countries in the world. The white people and educated blacks enjoyed a standard of living much like that in the United States or UK, while the tribal villagers had the highest standard of living in black Africa.

Then the Russians and the Chinese communists showed up and the Cubans – with mouths full of Marxist slogans and boatloads of guns and explosives – initially consisting mostly of landmines and submachine guns but later including late model East Bloc weaponry. Weapons that were employed against civilian farmers and tribal villagers… The terrorist incidents gradually escalated from isolated bandit attacks to full scale savagery.

To communist "fighters" their enemies are seen simply as criminals – the upper classes slated for "liquidation," and the lower classes for "re-education" and domination through unspeakable terror. Don’t take my word for it. Read their own words – read Lenin or Mao and remember that their body count suggests that they meant the things they said. Then ask yourselves why this is not taught in our schools – it’s a fair question in a country dominated by leftists and their tedious claims to the moral high ground.

The world ignored horrific attacks like the slaughter and mutilation of innocent tribal villagers, and the Viscount disaster – where terrorists shot down a passenger plane with a Russian strella missile, and then raped and butchered the survivors. Read the words of a Rhodesian pastor whose sermon "The Silence is Deafening" is a dreadful indictment of the West’s response to that atrocity. Seeing how America in its current war on terrorism expects the whole world to get on board because of the presumed moral culpability of our enemies one can only wonder how that same America could blithely ignore acts of terrorism as brutal and deadly as that one.

The British disgraced themselves once and for all by refusing even to sell prosthetics to Rhodesia when a young farm girl lost her legs to a terrorist mine, planted by fanatics who were cheered on by those same Brits. Russian ships jammed Rhodesian communications and broke the daily "shackle" codes used by the military in the field so quickly that it was assumed that no comms were really secure. Rhodesia had few friends and the embargo began to bite deeply early on. The fight however, continued – the Rhodesians were anything but quitters.

By the mid seventies thousands of well organized terrorists were staging in Mozambique and Zambia, so called "front line" states. That translates into "countries where communist dictators had already seized control." I "visited" the camps in Mozambique myself and can testify to the truth of that statement. The camps in Zambia had a prior visit from a battle group best remembered by the call sign of the tactical air commander, "Green Leader." That was the operation that could have, and perhaps should have served as a model to the US when we attacked Afghanistan.

Terrorists were staging in Zambia and routinely crossing the Zambezi to murder and maim Rhodesian citizens. (Again – I am an eyewitness having been engaged in a rather nasty affair on the Zambezi where we knocked out a terrorist group coming across the river from Zambia) Zambia could have legitimately been construed as an enemy and the Rhodesians could have readily bombed Lusaka. They did not – they were able to focus on fighting their real enemies who were the ZIPRA and ZANLA terrorists cadres so beloved of the leftist media in Peking, Moscow, Britain, and America.

The Rhodesians had a major advantage over the United States, however, when it came to fighting terrorists. They weren’t concerned for world opinion or coalitions and had no thoughts of "nation building," those folks were focused! Plus, the government was actually responding to the will of the people for if there ever was a government that was "of the people, by the people, for the people," it was that of the Rhodesians. It makes a difference when you are defending the people as opposed to defending some broadly defined "national interest" that somehow never seems to benefit anyone you know.

The Rhodesians were wonderful improvisers and put together an assault group with obsolete jet fighter-bombers, helicopters, and old Dakotas for the paratroops. The forces used for raids into host countries were extremely lean by modern standards. Less than a hundred paratroopers and some SAS types plus air force personnel, some medics and engineers. They had learned to coordinate their forces very smoothly and bring overwhelming force against a specific target. The strike force operated quite similarly to American Special Forces in Afghanistan as far as tactics go – small groups of well-trained men with a lot more radios and machine guns than normal infantry. That got them a lot of bang for the buck.

So one bright day these Rhodesians brought death to the terrorists in Zambia without harming a single Zambian civilian or soldier, and they did it with incredible panache. How? Try this on for size:

"Tower, this is Green Leader, this is the Rhodesian Air Force. We are now in control of your airspace and no plane will land or take off until further notice. Planes in the air will circle in a holding pattern that we will assign. We will give you further instructions as we proceed." Green Leader was the code name of the Rhodesian air commander who simply took control of the airspace over Lusaka and despite the Zambians having an air force that included Mig 17 interceptors (the equal of the Rhodesian’s Hawker Hunters) those folks got real wise real fast and froze in place. Green Leader and his small force of Hunters effectively neutralized the Zambian armed forces for several long critical hours. (For a live transmission of this communication, there is actually a tape of it available on the web.)

Meantime, back at the terrorist base camps, Armageddon. First, "Golf" Bombs (homemade concussion bombs – very powerful) to daze those already dozy characters, more strafing and bombing, then airborne folks came in on helicopters with light infantry weapons to finish them off. Paratrooper "Stop Groups" were dropped further out from the target area and sealed off escape from the base camps. Few terrorists were able to escape. Thousands of "Terrs" as they were called, would butcher no more civilians and chant no more communist slogans. They had been wiped out without ever raising any effective resistance at all. When the raid was complete, tons of firearms and munitions were airlifted back to Rhodesia or blown up. When the assault forces had completed their work, Green Leader calmly and politely returned control of the Zambian air space back to Zambia!

Zambian zeal for the terrorist cause was somewhat dampened by this, as one might well imagine! Bombing the Zambians would have made them angry and they would have called for revenge and it could well have spiraled into that many more deaths. Instead, the Zambian government got a revealing look at their own vulnerability without suffering the indignity (and casualties) of an all-out attack. As for the terrorists? They were the devil’s problem after that.

It should be noted that photographs of the camps and the weaponry seized there were made available to the western press but were ignored. The LA Times spoke of an attack by Rhodesian mercenaries on a refugee camp. Does the media have a leftist agenda? You be the judge.

The Rhodesians were able to strike this blow because they knew perfectly well that they were fighting for survival and that could be attained only by making the best possible use of their military. They were minding their own business and not intervening in the affairs of others, and even in their most awesome displays of force were careful to target only the guilty and limit so called "collateral damage." There was no antiwar movement in Rhodesia. Fathers, sons, and even grandfathers (Dad’s Army) did their call-ups in the army or police reserve.

The terrorist enemy, on the other hand, followed the tried and true communist tactic of striking civilians, black and white; torture and mutilation were their stock and trade. Is it unfair to ask why the American government supported those people?

The Rhodesians eventually went down, betrayed at last in their naiveté by their "friends" in the British commonwealth. Although by then the country was under the aegis of a bi-racial government led by the Bishop Abel Muzarewa, this was not enough for the international community. So called "peace-keeping" forces from the Commonwealth kept a close eye on the Rhodesian forces while abandoning the helpless villagers to the depredations and intimidation of the terrorist forces – it was obvious when it was too late, that the door should never have been opened to them. The socialist government of Britain, like their more overtly communist allies, was only happy when the thugs were running the show.

I believe it is time to ask ourselves, as Americans, if we wish to follow this path, and hand our civilization over to the third world and forsake for ever the traditions of our western cultural heritage, and sink like Rhodesia, into a mire of inefficiency, corruption and brutality. It is the path we are on; it is the path down which political correctness is leading us and it is the cherished dream of our enemies that we should do so. Why Americans are throwing their freedom at the feet of a government that is leading us down that path is beyond me and sometimes I fear that ultimately we have just betrayed too many friends, murdered too many unborn babies, and stuck our noses into too many places where we had no business, and that perhaps the good Lord has finally just given us over to our own depravity.

There is an answer of course. There is no rule set in stone that says we must capitulate to the left, that we must answer only to those whose policies are those of savage and depraved beasts.

Every wicked agenda has an ultimate goal – to see where America is heading you have only to look to modern day Zimbabwe, where once there were moderation and good manners, and now there is epidemic, starvation and depravity.

Why do we as Americans act against our own best interests? Why do we allow ourselves to be ruled by the left wing press and outright criminals like Ted Kennedy, John McCain and Bill Clinton? Why is a man like George Bush, whose dream is to throw open our borders to the riff raff of the world considered a hero by so many? I say to you that we can still repent of our evil and foolish ways; that we can still restore our society and dismantle the apparatus of empire, but it will take commitment and integrity. We will have to stop murdering our children and nurturing the worst elements in our culture, and I suppose that is just too much to ask. It would be inconvenient, and inconvenience is more than we are willing to put up with in this postmodern Dark Age in which we find ourselves.

Mugabe Offers Ruined Farms Back To Whites From Jan Lamprecht

 www.AfricanCrisis.Org

4-26-6

Isn't it nice? Mugabe & his assorted scum seize the farms, drive the White farmers off, and bankrupt many of them. Then, after years of either complete neglect, or just the general trashing of the farms - now that everything is broken he asks for the White farmers to come back and lease some of the land on a 99-year basis. I have a 4-letter response to that!

Some of the white farmers are down-and-out enough to actually dare to do so. With the skyrocketing food prices, one could, in theory make a killing now - if you can actually manage to grow something. But chances are that the farmers will also have to contend with a massive theft problem as starving blacks will try to steal from them.

From what I have heard, the majority of White farmers will not waste their time coming back. Only a few will take up his offer.

Imagine, unemployment in Zimbabwe is now at 80% and inflation will soon hit the 1000% mark. Even the official inflation rate is at 913%. Well, it serves him right. Zimbabwe is trashed and smashed, and will perhaps take 50+ years to get back to where it was at the time he destroyed it.

I doubt that country will be able to recover from what he did because others will pass it by. Opportunities have been lost which will never be seen again. Let it serve as a monument to BLACK RACISM. - Jan

BBC News 4-25-6

Zimbabwe has confirmed that it is offering land to white farmers who had their property seized under President Robert Mugabe's land reform programme. Deputy Information Minister Bright Matonga told the BBC any Zimbabwean can apply for land and that farms would be allocated on long leases. But he said that farmers would not necessarily get back land they lost. Critics say the reforms have devastated Zimbabwe's agriculture-based economy and led to massive food shortages. On Friday, the Commercial Farmers" Union said 200 white farmers had applied for land over the past two weeks.

In 2000, there were some 4,000 white farmers working on much of the best land. Just 300 remain after a campaign of often violent land seizures. The Zimbabwe government is portraying white farmers as having finally come to their senses, accepting that they cannot resist Mr Mugabe's land reform programme. "They are begging us for land," Mr Matonga told the BBC. But BBC Africa analyst Martin Plaut says hard facts have driven this policy U-turn. By confiscating the white-owned commercial farms, the government transformed a country that was once the breadbasket of Southern Africa into a net food importer. And despite good rains there is every prospect of another deficit over the coming season, our correspondent says.

Mr Mugabe has admitted that there was corruption in the distribution of the farms seized from the whites. Poor blacks farmers, in whose name the land reform was carried out, were often left to fend for themselves. Without capital, implements or seed, many failed to use the land productively and agricultural output has collapsed. Tobacco used to be Zimbabwe's major export earner but production has fallen from 237m kg in 2000 to 73m kg last year.

The white farmers are being invited to apply for land on the same basis as other Zimbabweans. Successful applicants will be given 99-year leases. The unclear legal status of the farms is another factor in the declining agricultural output, which the government hopes will soon be solved. Zimbabwe is now poorer than it was at independence in 1980, after it had survived 16 years of sanctions and eight years of civil war. Mr Mugabe says his policy is designed to reverse colonial policies, which saw blacks evicted from their land and moved into marginal areas. He says Zimbabwe's economic problems stem from a western campaign to bring down his government.

Visit To A Zimbabwe Hospital Will Cost $1 Million From Jan Lamprecht

www.AfricanCrisis.Org

 4-26-6

Zimbabwe's economy is a complete shambles. A friend of my mothers, who visited there for the first time in a few years, was saying that the country is smashed beyond recognition. She and her husband were among the 90% of the whites who fled from Zimbabwe in the last 5 years. They say it is virtually unrecognisable compared to what it was even a few years ago. -Jan

FEES at public hospitals have been increased from $300 to between $800,000 and $1 million with immediate effect as part of efforts to improve the quality of service in Government hospitals.

The latest round of increases -- which has since been approved by Cabinet -- comes hard on the heels of a 100 percent fee increase by private doctors, clinics and hospitals. From $300 in consultation fees in the casualty departments, central hospitals will, with immediate effect, charge $1 million while provincial and general hospitals would charge $800 000. District and mission hospitals, on the other hand, will now charge $400 000. Public hospitals had for a long time been failing to provide quality services and facilities owing to poor financial resources and largely because the $300 they charged was no longer practical. Very few people can lay their hands on a $100 note these days as mostly higher denominations are now being used.

Consultation fees in the outpatients departments at central hospitals are now pegged at $760 000 while children will pay $380 000. When admitted in the Intensive Care Unit, one can now expect to pay $8,5 million a day while maternity fees will s tart from $1,3 million per day. In theatre, people can now expect to pay $105 000 per minute. Because municipal clinics were charging relatively higher rates than hospitals, most people were now taking such minor ailments as colds and headaches to hospitals, putting a strain on the facilities there. Deputy Minister of Health and Child Welfare Dr Edwin Muguti said the Government had revised the fees and charges to improve on service delivery. "We also want to improve efficiency through rational use of services.

"I am sure you are aware that the referral chain has been under threat because of the small amounts that our hospitals have been charging," he said. "These increases should lead to a decongestion of casualty departments in our hospitals, leaving specialised personnel to deal with emergency cases only. "Because people will be paying for the services they get, they will develop a sense of ownership for the hospitals. "When people are not paying, they tend to abuse facili ties but when they pay, hopefully they will become more responsible," Dr Muguti said. To ensure everyone had access to health care, certain groups of people would be exempted from paying. These include those suffering from tuberculosis, leprosy, those aged 65 and above, those in need of HIV and Aids drugs, those requiring primary immunisation at rural health centres, among others. People who are not on medical aid and those who cannot afford will be exempted from paying.

The Government, Dr Muguti said, would levy a penalty of $150 000 on capable people who try to cheat to access free treatment. Some people however, described the latest round of increases in hospital fees as a kick in the face of ordinary Zimbabweans who were already battling to cope with escalating costs of other services and basic commodities. "We are now between a hard place and a rock. Things have not been good since the start of the year and we surely do not know how we are going to survive," said a Hara re woman who spoke on condition of anonymity. Her sentiments were also echoed by many other interviewees who said the increases would force them to consult traditional and faith healers in the event of an illness. School fees, prices of most basic commodities and supplies, rentals as well as the general cost of living has been going up over the past few months while incomes remained stagnant.

The Silence is Deafening

Sermon by Very Rev. John da Costa, Anglican Dean of Salisbury

Clergymen, I am frequently told, should keep out of politics. I thoroughly agree. For this reason, I will not allow politics to be preached in this cathedral. Clergy have to be reconcilers. That is no easy job. A minister of religion who has well-known political views, and allows them to come to the fore, cannot reconcile, but will alienate others, and fail in the chief part of his ministry.

For this reason, I personally am surprised at there being two clergymen in the Executive Council. It is my sincere prayer that they can act as Christ’s ambassadors of reconciliation.

My own ministry began in Ghana, where Kwame Nkrumah preached: "Seek ye first the political kingdom and all these things will be added to you." We know what became of Kwame Nkrumah. We are not to preach a political kingdom, but the kingdom of God.

Clergy are usually in the middle, shot at from both sides. It is not an enviable role. Yet times come when it is necessary to speak out, and in direct and forthright terms, like trumpets with unmistakable notes. I believe that this is one such time.

Nobody who holds sacred the dignity of human life can be anything but sickened at the events attending the crash of the Viscount Hunyani. Survivors have the greatest call on the sympathy and assistance of every other human being. The horror of the crash was bad enough, but that this should have been compounded by murder of the most savage and treacherous sort leaves us stunned with disbelief and brings revulsion in the minds of anyone deserving the name "human."

This bestiality, worse than anything in recent history, stinks in the nostrils of Heaven. But are we deafened with the voice of protest from nations which call themselves "civilised"? We are not. Like men in the story of the Good Samaritan, they "pass by, on the other side."

One listens for loud condemnation by Dr. David Owen, himself a medical doctor, trained to extend mercy and help to all in need.

One listens and the silence is deafening.

One listens for loud condemnation by the President of the United States, himself a man from the Bible-Baptist belt, and again the silence is deafening.

One listens for loud condemnation by the Pope, by the Chief Rabbi, by the Archbishop of Canterbury, by all who love the name of God.

Again the silence is deafening.

I do not believe in white supremacy. I do not believe in black supremacy either. I do not believe that anyone is better than another, until he has proved himself to be so. I believe that those who govern or who seek to govern must prove themselves worthy of the trust that will be placed in them.

One looks for real leadership One finds little in the Western world: how much less in Africa?

Who is to be blamed for this ghastly episode?

Like Pontius Pilate, the world may ask "What is truth?" What is to be believed? That depends on what your prejudices will allow you to believe, for then no evidence will convince you otherwise.

So who is to be blamed?

First, those who fired the guns. Who were they? Youths and men who, as likely as not, were until recently in church schools. This is the first terrible fact. Men who went over to the other side in a few months were so indoctrinated that all they had previously learned was obliterated. How could this happen if they had been given a truly Christian education?

Second, it is common knowledge that in large parts of the world violence is paraded on TV and cinema screens as entertainment. Films about war, murder, violence, rape devil-possession and the like are "good box-office". Peak viewing time is set aside for murderers from Belfast,, Palestine, Europe, Africa and the rest, to speak before an audience of tens of millions. Thugs are given full treatment, as if deserving of respect.

 Not so the victims' relations.

Who else is to be blamed?

The United Nations and their church equivalent, the WCC. I am sure they both bear blame in this. Each parade a pseudo-morality which, like all half-truths, is more dangerous than the lie direct. From the safety and comfort of New York and Geneva, high moral attitudes can safely be struck. For us in the sweat, the blood, the suffering, it is somewhat different.

Who else? The churches? Oh yes, I fear so.

For too long, too many people have been allowed to call themselves "believers" when they have been nothing of the kind. Those who believe must act. If you believe the car is going to crash, you attempt to get out. If you believe the house is on fire, you try to get help and move things quickly. If you believe a child has drunk poison, you rush him to the doctor. Belief must bring about action.

Yet churches, even in our own dangerous times, are more than half-empty all the time. We are surrounded by heathens who equate belief in God with the Western way of life. In many war areas, Africans are told to "burn their Bibles". If this call was made to us, what sort of Bibles would be handed in? Would they be dog-eared from constant use; well-thumbed and marked? Would they be pristine in their virgin loveliness, in the same box in which they were first received?

There are tens of millions of all races who call themselves believers, who never enter any house of prayer and praise. Many are folk who scream loudest against communism, yet do not themselves help to defeat these Satanic forces by means of prayer, and praise and religious witness.

For, make no mistake, if our witness were as it ought to be, men would flock to join our ranks. As it is, we are by-passed by the world, as if irrelevant.

Is anyone else to be blamed for this ghastly episode near Kariba? I think so.

Politicians throughout the world have made opportunist speeches from time to time. These add to the heap of blameworthiness, for a speech can cause wounds which may take years to heal.

The ghastliness of this ill-fated flight from Kariba will be burned upon our memories for years to come. For others, far from our borders, it is an intellectual matter, not one which affects them deeply. Here is the tragedy!

The especial danger of Marxism is its teaching that human life is cheap, expendable, of less importance than the well-being of the State. But there are men who call themselves Christians who have the same contempt for other human beings, and who treat them as being expendable.

Had we, who claim to love God, shown more real love and understanding, more patience, more trust of others, the churches would not be vilified as they are today. I have nothing but sympathy with those who are here today and whose grief we share. I have nothing but revulsion for the less-than-human act of murder which has so horrified us all.

I have nothing but amazement at the silence of so many of the political leaders of the world. I have nothing but sadness that our churches have failed so badly to practise what we preach. May God forgive us all, and may he bring all those who died so suddenly and unprepared into the light of His glorious presence.

 Amen

Thousands Left Starving By Mugabe Land Grabs

By a Special Telegraph Correspondent 2-17-2

For the first time in more than 100 years the vast stone edifice of St Francis Xavier Catholic Church, deep in the bush of Matabeleland, Zimbabwe's most arid region, can no longer offer sanctuary to pilgrims.

"We have nothing left, no food, nothing," Fr Thomas Tshabalala said from the cool of Empandeni mission station's cloistered corridors.

"If people arrive we have nothing for them. Starvation is the main problem for all the people from this community and many are on the point of dying."

The people of Matabeleland have often suffered food shortages but, in most years, the fertile areas of Zimbabwe have grown more than enough maize to tide them over. The country often did even better and exported food to the rest of southern Africa. The invasion of white- owned farms by militant supporters of President Mugabe and their wholesale seizure by his government has ended all this.

For the first time since a devastating drought 10 years ago, Zimbabwe has been forced to seek help from the World Food Programme, which estimates that the country has a maize deficit of around 500,000 tons and more than 550,000 people need emergency supplies.

St Francis Xavier, Zimbabwe's oldest Catholic church, towers like a beacon in the bush, and can be reached only by a dusty, rutted track reaching 18 miles from the nearest tarred road. Before he began his career, Mr Mugabe taught at Empandeni mission school in the 1950s, and it still attracts 1,100 immaculately turned-out pupils, who trudge for miles through the bush to receive an education begun by the first Jesuit missionaries in 1887.

But the mission's brick-built bakery, powered by rusty, riveted boilers, has been forced to cut production. The mission's farm manager said the water in the nearby reservoir was a fraction of what was needed to stop maize fields from turning into arid wastelands. "Our livestock is dying and so will we soon," the manager said.

At a nearby hamlet Anton, a toothless shepherd, sat outside two shops where the shelves were empty. "We are hungry, we are hungry," he lamented, seeking solace in a plastic container of strong African beer.

Back at Empandeni, some of the schoolchildren, wearing green, starched uniforms, sat in puddles of shade yesterday singing harmonies to while away the scorching midday hours.

Other schools in the area have had to cancel afternoon sport because children have begun fainting through lack of food. "In the surrounding area, I would say that 90 per cent of families have been left by at least one family member going to look for work or money in Botswana or South Africa," Fr Thomas said.

"They have nothing to keep them here and they know that if they stay they will die." In the run-up to next month's presidential election, Fr Thomas's beloved Church is all too aware that, under famine conditions, food has become a sensitive political issue.

Catholic aid agencies have agreed to pay for food to be distributed but Mr Mugabe's regime has attacked them for being "lackeys of the white" and "agents of MI6".

Despite being educated by the Jesuits and spending years as a teacher in mission schools, Mr Mugabe has fallen out with the Church. This week, the Jesuits accused the president of acting as brutally as Hitler.

"We do not have enough food for everyone and in those circumstances we cannot deliver food where we would have to say 'yes' to some people and 'no' to others," Fr Thomas said. His predecessor fled for his life from Empandeni before the 2000 general election when Mr Mugabe's militant supporters stormed the church.

They accused him of supporting the opposition Movement for Democratic Change after he pinned up posters advising local people on election procedure.

"So far they have left me alone but it is only a matter of time," the priest said.

The scale of the food crisis in Zimbabwe can be seen all over the country. At the Grain Marketing Board depot in the second city, Bulawayo, where the socialist planners of Mr Mugabe's government try to control the meagre flow of maize meal, hundreds of woman have begun a daily picket.

They sit hour after hour, day after day, hoping to somehow glean a bag of maize from the lorries that now deliver only a fraction of the city's daily requirement.

One local black farmer said he had been advised not to send a lorry to pick up a supply of stock-feed maize from the plant because of the danger of a riot.

But as millions go hungry, Mr Mugabe's ruling Zanu-PF party has launched a risky political strategy, rationing maize shipments only to those villages and headmen who promise to vote for him in the election.

"This a high-risk strategy because in a time of hunger do you really want to be seen to be denying food to some and giving it to others?" one observer said.

At a recent campaign rally, a wizened, elderly tribal chief who had sat through a long tirade from Mr Mugabe dared to stand up and ask him where the food was coming from. "If you do not come here with food then we are not interested in anything else you have to say," the tribal chief said.

Outside the Empandeni mission station there was a sign proudly recognising the community for giving more blood donations than any other in south Matabeleland in 1999.

With the threat of starvation and political violence hanging over the area, there is a risk that in 2002 the area may see blood spilled less innocently.

'The Game Is Over For The White Man Throughout Africa'

By Max Hastings

The London Daily Mail 9-13-2

Among most British people, Robert Mugabe inspires much more anger than Saddam Hussein. Iraq`s leader murders his enemies out of sight. Whatever horrors he is brewing in his secret laboratories and factories, they have not been unleashed upon the world at large. Mugabe, by contrast, terrorises his white subjects under floodlights. Farmers are driven from land they have tilled for decades.

Casual brutality is the nation's staple diet, and heaven knows there is little else to eat. Zimbabwe is sinking into a slough of corruption, starvation and bankruptcy to satisfy the megalomania of one man.

If Tony Blair announced tomorrow that Britain intended to invade Zimbabwe and remove Mugabe from power, I suspect that the news would be far more enthusiastically received than a declaration of war on Saddam Hussein.

Yet, of course, neither Britain nor the United Nations will depose Mugabe. Many miles and the colonial legacy divide us from his crumbling country. His tyranny poses no threat to the outside world. His victims are his own people.

For all the sentiment expended upon Zimbabwe`s white farmers, most people in Britain recognise that their fate was sealed more than two decades ago when black majority rule came to the former Rhodesia. Since 1980 it has merely been a question of how long the dwindling number of Rhodesians could stick it.

After the bitterness of the civil war there never seemed a realistic prospect that a multi-racial society would survive for long. For 100 years, the white man lorded it in old Rhodesia. Now a black tyranny does so.

The remaining whites will be driven out of Mugabes`s Zimbabwe. The wise ones will leave while they still have the skin on their backs. Just or unjust, that is reality.

I would go further and suggest that the game is up for the white man throughout Africa. It does not matter whether this is a good or bad thing - it represents the tide of history.

For four centuries, white immigrants and their decendants have pitched camp in Africa. "We belong here. We are as much Africans as any of Mugabe`s war veterans" a Zimbabwean farmer will say.

Yet, in the eyes of Africa this is not true. The white man is always the alien, the outsider, the former ruler whose very competence is a painful embarrassment even to the most educated black Africans. However much those Zimbabweans, or their South African counterparts, love the countries in which they live, few black Africans will today acknowledge that the white man belongs among them. He is perceived as a leftover from the past, flotsam drifting on the beach of history.

The remaining whites will not be driven out in a single dramatic purge. Over the next 30 years, they will simply be prodded, frightened and squeezed until they slip away piecemeal, as the children of a good many friends of mine has already done.

In a succession of lurches and surges, Africa is reverting to a dark continent. Over the past 40 years, since the colonial powers began to depart, all the world's efforts to provide advice and aid have been frustrated by cultural resistance, lack of education, population explosion and above all, corruption on a vast scale.

Many Western nations suffer from political corruption. But they are rich enough, and the corruption modest enough, for their economies and political systems to co-exist with it. Across Africa, however, rulers have systematically stripped national treasuries of their wealth. It was recently estimated that 95 billion Pounds has been illegally removed from the continent by national rulers since the colonial powers departed. No society can prosper amid corruption on this scale.

We take for granted the honesty of our judges, accountants - yes even after Enron - banks and bureaucrats. Honesty is not only the best policy, it is indespensable if any economic system is to prosper. In Africa, the only wholly successful modern industry is the theft of cash from businesses, aid funds, government coffers, utilities, mines, wildlife charities etc.

In the days when I travelled in Africa a lot, an old hand in Nairobi explained a few home truths to me. "In this society, if you don`t use power to enrich yourself and your family you are not merely behaving foolishly, you are thought to be acting wickedly" he said. "There is absolutely no understanding here of the ideal of the community, of people at large. There is only the family, the tribe and yourself."

There are a few exceptions such as Nelson Mandela. But for most of the continent, that cynical piece of wisdom is as true today as it was 20 years ago.

Almost every African state is governed solely in the interest of its ruling clique. National bankruptcy does nothing to diminish a bottomless appetite for first-class travel and absurdly pretentious embassies abroad. Look at the roll call in London alone - some of the most expensive real estate in the capital is occupied by the diplomatic missions of some of the poorest countries of the world: Malawi in Grovener Street, Tanzania in Hartford Street, Zambia in Palace Gate, Zimbabwe in the Strand.

By almost every economic measure Africa has gone backwards, not forwards, since the 1960`s. Three years ago Bill Clinton toured the continent and delivered a series of supremely cynical speeches, proclaiming that the West would henceforward be coming to Africa`s aid. It sounded like rubbish then and it is rubbish now. The West has no intention of bailing out Africa, even if Blair has surges of compassion for the place.

Donors are tired of giving cash of which only a smidgen reaches the people for whom it is intended. Food deliveries to starving people will continue, but these do nothing to salvage collapsing economies.----The end of the Cold War means that no great power feels a need to buy influence there. For many years, African leaders bitterly denounced "imperialist interference" in their countries. Today, they are learning that international indifference is far more painful.

For most of Africa`s people the future looks even grimmer than the past. Aids is ravaging populations. The statisticians expect its consequences to grow much worse before they get better. The influential American academic Phillip Bobbitt, in his recent book Shield of the Achilles, observed that he sees only misery ahead for Africans in the 21st century, as disease, famine and corruption relentlessly assail them.

There was a vivid moment a couple of years ago during the first stage of the British intervention to support the struggling government of Sierra Leone. Its prime minister asked a visiting British politician, in the presence of journalists, if it might be possible for his country to become part of the British Empire again. Most of those present believed that the Leonese leader was serious. The problems of African societies are so huge, so deep- rooted, that the few honest and decent politicians despair. They grasp at any straw to rescue their countries. It is a tragic spectacle and few experts see a way out.

When the West does intervene in any African society, it is essential to stay for at least 10 years or more to have any hope of making lasting progress. The Americans failed miserably in Somalia a decade ago, because they treated it as a short term problem. The British Army training team in Sierra Leone has done a good job, but the lasting need is for civil assistance - to teach people to collect taxes, administer courts and run infrastructure projects. We are talking, of course, about something embarrassingly close to neo-colonialism. Many Africans would be delighted if there was more of it about. But political obstacles remain overwhelming, the imperial memory too fresh.

Almost every Western attempt to help Africa founders, sooner or later, amid the morass of political prejudice and cultural division. Zimbabwe`s remaining whites farm the land incomparably more efficiently than their black counterparts. But this makes their presence more intolerable, not less so, to the likes of Mugabe.

The big fib, propagated at the time of African independence, was that local people wanted the right to vote. Not so. They scarcely cared a fig for ballots, most of which were soon rigged anyway. They wanted the land, cars, houses, swimming pools of their erstwhile white rulers. They still want these things, in Zimbabwe and South Africa generally.

Sooner or later, most African leaders find it expedient to hand over the white men`s toys to their own people, without all the bother of explaining that these things should be won through education, skills, enterprise, and hard labour over generations.

I was never a supporter of Ian Smith`s Rhodesia, which was founded on a huge injustice to the blacks, and sustained by cruelties as horrible as those of Mugabe today. White minority rule in South Africa was a loathsome thing. Thank God it has gone. But it remains a tragedy to see black-ruled Africa sinking into the swamp of history.

Outsiders can do little to save it from itself as long as it remains a continent of tyrants, and democracy is making no headway at all. There is one striking oddity about Africa`s misery today: passions remain entirely internally directed. Whereas in the Middle East resentment of the rich West spawns terrorism and active hostility, above all towards the USA, even Mugabe`s denunciations of Blair lack conviction.

Africa`s rulers are overwhelmingly preoccupied with their personal cravings for wealth. Their subjects merely struggle to survive. Some observers believe that this may change as the power of Islam grows across the continent. The influence of the Moslem religion may generate a new assertiveness, even aggression, a decade or two onwards.

For now however, African passion focuses exclusively upon their own societies, and upon futile thrashings to make some brand of authoritarian Socialism blossom amid the failling crops.

You may have noticed that even as more and more whites are obliged to quit Africa, growing numbers of black Africans seek to migrate to Europe and the United States - refugees from the economic catastrophies their own rulers have created at home. On every plane that bears sorrowing whites away from the continent of their birth into exile in Europe or Australia, there are also many seats occupied by departing blacks who are just as much victims. It is a bitter historic irony.

I believe that the remaining whites will continue to trickle away from Africa until there are only a handful of communities left between Cairo and The Cape. Then the white outside world may notice less, and care less, what happens to the continent because we shall perceive no kin there. Africa`s story will have become an exclusive black disaster.

Well there you have it.

It is sad but true, history repeats itself.

This is the "song of the oath", for want of a better phrase. This is where the members of MK (Mkhonto we Sizwe), the armed wing of the ANC (African National Congress), pledge to kill white people.

Here are some of the frames showing Nelson Mandela, and next to him, in the green shirt, holding his fist in a black power salute is
Ronnie Kasrils. Kasrils is a senior member of the S.African Communist party, and in 2006, he is the Minister of Intelligence in S.Africa.
