Sheriff's Deputy Shot; Suspect Killed

A sheriff's deputy in eastern Arizona is hospitalized in critical condition after being shot while trying to arrest a suspect. The suspect was in turn shot and killed.

The confrontation occurred in the town of Eager around midnight.

Department of Public Safety spokesman Officer Steve Volden says the Apache County sheriff's deputy was shot twice in the head. He was airlifted to a Phoenix hospital.

His name wasn't immediately released.

Volden says the deputy was among several officers who were attempting to arrest 58-year-old William Milton Cooper of Eagar.

Volden says Cooper had been armed with a handgun. He says details of the shooting will be released later at a news conference. DPS was called in to investigating the shooting.

An Apache County sheriff's deputy may be paralyzed after being shot in the head by a so-called militia member, who was shot and killed by officers.

The incident happened in the town of Eagar, which is located in the eastern part of the state, close to the New Mexico border.

Sheriff's deputies were trying to serve an arrest warrant on William Cooper, who has reportedly been known to be hostile toward law enforcement. In order to approach the home, deputies disguised themselves as a bunch of rowdy teenagers in the back of a pick-up truck in hopes of luring Cooper out of his home and it apparently worked.

However, when Cooper realized what was happening, he reportedly pulled a gun and shot the 40-year-old deputy in the head.

During the gunfight, Cooper was reportedly shot and killed.

Officials say Cooper belongs to a militia movement and has published several articles in anti-establishment articles. He also reportedly has a Web site and on it, acknowledges there is an arrest warrant for him, but writes "Any attempt by federal government or anyone else to execute the unlawful arrest warrants will be met with armed resistances. Any person who attempts to kidnap our children will be shot upon discovery."

Update on William Cooper

At 1:00 p.m. mountain time Nov.6th We received a call from Officer Frank Valenzuela form Az. Dept of Public Safety, This call came to us as a result of our calling the sheriffs office to confirm that this incident had happened, he informed us that this level of entrapment for Mr. Cooper started at 11:40 p.m. mt. time Nov. 5th 2001 by luring Bill Cooper away from his home which sat on top of a hillside in the community of Edgar ,Az his physical address was 96 North Clearview Circle , Edgar, Az. The departments of Edgar and Apache law enforcement were working together. They claimed that they had gone out to serve 3 felony warrants, pertaining to someone having had a semi-automatic pistol drawn on them by Bill Cooper. At this time we do not have that info as to whom that was who filed a complaint. Officers deliberately caused a ruckus to get this man away from his home to create this entrapment He went down the hill away from his home to the automobile to see what the ruckus was, it was 2 law officers in plain clothes. He spoke to them then got back in his car to go back up to his house , when out hiding came a patrol car that blocked his return to his home. He put his hands on the car window as we assume that is what he was ordered to do as they approached his car he pulled out to get around the car . He got out of his and tried to run for his home ,shots were fired he returned fire hitting one officer in the head twice , whom is in surgery in St Joe's hospital. The other officer continued to fire until Cooper was dead. Please keep in mind this report was given to us by the sheriffs office and here are there numbers.. 928-333-5580, 1-800-352-1850 This is the man that authored the book Behold The Pale Horse, he was also battling the IRS he also was a well known radio talk show host. William Cooper Killed in SWAT Raid

A Sierra Times Special Report 11.06.01

From his Website:"...God bless my family. I love my wife & children more than life itself. Everything I do is for the future of all my children. They may not understand why I have sacrificed so much, why I am so dedicated to this work; but someday they will. I want them to know they are the most important People in my life, and how very, very much I love them..." - William Cooper

EAGAR, AZ - William Cooper has been killed and an Apache County sheriff's deputy wounded in a shootout, authorities said. William Milton Cooper, 58, of Eager, had hosted a talk show broadcast on the Worldwide Christian Radio out of Nashville, which receives it via phone from his home in St. Johns. The deputy, whose name was being withheld by authorities, was shot twice in the head while trying to arrest Cooper, a state Department of Public Safety spokesman said today. Cooper was killed by another officer. Several deputies were attempting to arrest Cooper, who was armed with a handgun, said Officer Steve Volden, a spokesman for the DPS, which was investigating the shooting. He said details of the shooting would be released later today. The deputy was in critical condition at a Phoenix hospital early today, Volden said.

Cooper was one of the most widely known shortwave radio broadcast, "the Hour of the Time," heard worldwide and on the internet. "William Cooper may be one of America's greatest heroes and this story may be the biggest story in the history of the world." said Mills Crenshaw, KTALK, Salt Lake City. William Cooper was reared in an Air Force family. As a child he lived in many different countries, graduating from Yamato High School in Japan. Since he has traveled through or lived in many different foreign countries Mr. Cooper has a world view much different than most Americans. William served with the Strategic Air Command, United States Air Force. He held a secret clearance working on B-52 bombers, KC-135 refueling aircraft, and Minuteman missiles. William received his Honorable Discharge from the United States Air Force in 1965. William joined the United States Navy fulfilling a dream previously frustrated by chronic motion sickness. He served aboard the submarine USS Tiru (SS-416), USS Tombigbee (AOG-11), Naval Support Activity Danang RVN, Naval Security and Intelligence Camp Carter RVN, Danang Harbor Patrol RVN, Dong Ha River Security Group RVN, USS Charles Berry (DE-1035), Headquarters Commander in Chief Pacific Fleet, USS Oriskany (CVA-34). Cooper was a member of the Office of Naval Security and Intelligence serving as a Harbor and River Patrol Boat Captain at Danang and the Dong Ha River Security Group, Cua Viet, Republic of Vietnam. William Cooper was awarded several medals for his leadership and heroism during combat including two with "V" for Valor. He served on the Intelligence Briefing Team for the Commander In Chief of the Pacific Fleet. William was the Petty Officer of the Watch and designated KL-47 SPECAT operator in the CINCPACFLT Command Center at Makalapa Hawaii. There he held a Top Secret, Q, SI, security clearance.

William Cooper achieved the rank of First Class Petty Officer, QM1, E- 6 after only 8 years of Naval service, a difficult task in any branch of the United States military. William Cooper received an Honorable Discharge from the United States Navy on December 11, 1975. William attended Long Beach City College where he picked up an Associate of Science Degree in Photography. He founded the Absolute Image Studio and Gallery of Fine Art Photography in Long Beach, California. William held the position of Executive Director of Adelphi Business College, Pacific Coast Technical Institute, and National Technical College. Mr. Cooper was the National Marketing Coordinator for National Education and Software. He produced several documentaries covering subjects such as the Kennedy assassination and secret black projects that have built flying disk shaped craft. William is an internationally acclaimed radio personality broadcasting the Hour Of The Time on WBCQ worldwide shortwave 7.415 MHz from 10 PM until 11 PM Eastern Standard Time (0300 to 0400 UTC) Monday through Thursday nights.

William Cooper is the author of Behold A Pale Horse. The book has become the best selling underground book of all time. It is read and promoted by word of mouth by people of all races, religions, and nationalities. Mr. Cooper is a world class lecturer, one of the few other than superstars, monarchs, and Popes who have appeared at Wembly in London. William Cooper has lectured for 10 years in every State. William Cooper, Trustee, has founded for Harvest Trust, the CAJI News Service, VERITAS national full size newspaper, The Intelligence Service, Harvest Publications, and has helped over 700 low power FM affiliate stations get equipped and on the air...including the station he managed as Trustee for the Independence Foundation Trust, 101.1 FM Eagar, Arizona, broadcasting to 7,000 people.

Under his leadership Harvest Trust ventured into the publishing trade. The first book under the Harvest Trust imprint was Oklahoma City: Day One by Michele Marie Moore... the definitive classic on the Oklahoma City bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building on April 19, 1995. Shortly after the bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah federal building Rush Limbaugh read a White House memo on the air during his broadcast which named William Cooper, "...the most dangerous radio host in America". Mr. Cooper considers William Clinton's pronouncement the greatest compliment that he has ever received.

William Cooper's FBI file, promulgated by the investigation required by his security clearances while in military service, was one of those unlawfully in possession of the White House in what has become known as, "Filegate". Shortly after this discovery President Clinton ordered all federal agencies to begin investigation, persecution, and prosecution of Mr. Cooper to shut him up. After years of filing FOIA requests and researching the IRS William Cooper brought suit against the IRS in Federal District Court in Phoenix Arizona to force the IRS to produce proof of jurisdiction and delegation of authority which the IRS was unable to do. To short circuit Mr. Cooper's attempt to reveal the true nature of the criminal IRS, and to carry out the orders of the White House, the agency lied to a Grand Jury, not allowing William Cooper to testify, and secured indictments against Mr. Cooper and his wife Annie. This ploy successfully stopped Mr. Cooper from continuing his suit against the criminal IRS for fear of being arrested. In 1998 VERITAS and Harvest Publications was sold to Hallmark Creative Corporation along with the copyright and all rights to all written material produced or ever to be produced by William Cooper including Behold A Pale Horse and Oklahoma City: Day one. Hallmark Creative Corporation has contracted to insure this material is always available to the public. In 1998 copyrights and all rights to all audio and video material produced or ever to be produced by William Cooper was sold to Excel Studios Corporation including the Hour Of The Time broadcast. Excel Studios has contracted to insure this material is always available to the public. In March of 1999, Cooper William sent his family out of the United States for their security. He lived and worked alone with his two dogs, one rooster, and one chicken.

My Thoughts On The Late Bill Cooper

Norio Hayakawa Norio1944@aol.com

Norio Hayakawa Civilian Intelligence Network

The world will always remember Bill Cooper as an egotistic paranoia monger. Indeed, to many he was an arrogant, obnoxious, choleric, self- aggrandizing, rude, vitriolic and vengeful person.

Perhaps he was all of this and much more. But no matter how negative his personality is described to be, we must admit the fact that he did indeed make a tremendous impact among hundreds, if not, thousands of his listeners, whether in front of his astounded lecture audiences or through his "shocking" radio programs.

I first met Bill back in 1989 in West L.A. when he was just an unknown speaker and where he spoke for the first time at a gathering called UFORUM. I was quite stunned then with his hypothesis on the Secret Government. It really sounded so fresh at that time because unlike most UFO speakers of that time he convincingly injected "UFOs" to a "one-world government" right-wing flavored conspiracy theory. I was so impacted by his hypothesis that I became a volunteer and helped him organize his first successful major public appearance that same year, which was held at Hollywood High School. That became the historic launching pad for his national lecture circuit. And the rest is history.

Later, in December of that year, I even attended the controversial National MUFON Conference held in Las Vegas in which Bill Cooper was perhaps the most controversial speaker aside from John Lear and Bill Moore and others. The Bill Cooper of then was very much into ufology, it seemed. Even in 1991 when Gary Schultz and I organized the first Ultimate Seminar in Rachel, Nevada (25 miles north of Area 51), we were surprised to see Bill Cooper as an attendee. I remember quite well when we lead the people to the White Sides hill for a climb to see the base, Bill Cooper could not make the climb due to his leg and he was even cracking up jokes about it.

In 1993 Bill Cooper, Eustace Mullins, Jordan Maxwell, Vladmir Terziski, Dr. Robert Strecker, Anthony Hilder, a couple of other conspiracy speakers and myself were all invited to speak at the First International Conference on Global Deception to be held in the famous Wembley Arena in London. Because of concerns for security due to the controversial nature of the conference, the bulk of us decided not to travel to England. Nevertheless, Bill Cooper had the guts to go and speak at the conference. I admired him for that.

By 1993 I had completely abandoned the so-called "extraterrestrial hypothesis" of the origins of the so-called UFO phenomena and began to promote the hypothesis that the entire UFO phenomena was a brilliantly concocted, staged and manipulated man-made deception by elitists to bring about certain agendas. I completely disassociated myself with "ufology". I was quite surprised to learn that, later on, Bill Cooper also began to depart from "ufology" and was also beginning to hypothesize that the "UFOs" had nothing to do with "aliens" but was a manipulation of the government to bring about fear to create a one-world government. Cooper began to admit that he most likely had been shown disinformation by the government while he was in the service. On this point, I truly commended Cooper for his admission. Cooper began to state that he was not a ufologist. It was Cooper who coined the term "ufoology" and I also commended him for it. However, Cooper had a tendency to label anyone that didn't agree with him as "agents of CIA", etc.

After moving to Arizona, he shifted his focus to the Patriot Movement (the militia movement), although in reality he was just a one-man militia, simply promoting his view on the Constitutional Republic through his radio programs to thousands of listeners.

Besides his other numerous negative traits, Cooper had an uncontrollable alcoholic problem. But despite his eccentric, obnoxious personality, deep in his heart I believe that he wanted to be a good person. Unfortunately he brought an end to his tumultuous life by his self-fulfilled prophecy through his violent act. My heart goes out to Annie and the children. But my heart goes out just as much to Deputy Marinez, at the young age of 40, who was shot by Cooper and who is still in a critical condition. Even if the Deputy should recover, he will most likely live the rest of his life with brain damage and paralysis. I feel so sorry for the Deputy's wife and his children. Cooper will have to answer to God for his actions, no doubt.. May we all learn from this tragedy.

Ruffin Prevost On Bill Cooper

RuffinP@aol.com

Ruffin Prevost is the editor of Parascope

Aside from Charles Overbeck and also my dad (a longtime follower of para-politics and closet conspiracy theorist) William Cooper was the biggest single influence in getting me interested in the field. Some friends and I heard him while in college speaking on a local radio show, which got me tuning in to "The Hour of the Time" on shortwave, which in turn got me reading Behold, A Pale Horse. Say what you want - - and there's plenty to say -- about Cooper's credibility, or even his sanity, but it was his intense passion and jaw-dropping claims of the impossibly terrifying that got me hooked into conspiracy research.

Sadly, I haven't kept up with him very much at all over the past several years, except for learning bits and pieces now and then of what seemed like his steady slide into repetitive patterns of prevarication, inebriation and antagonistic confrontation. As for the specifics of his death, I read the account from the Apache County Sheriff's Department (which his web site confirms as accurate), and it sounds like they tried -- albeit in typical hamfisted manner -- to serve an arrest warrant for aggravated assault without it turning into an armed seige while he was in his house.

Perhaps the deputies' tactics (and maybe even their motivations) were less than optimum, but it's doubtful anyone would have died, cops or Cooper, if he had allowed himself to be booked and bailed out. He would have had the moral high ground at that point, and been in a better position (not the least of which includes being alive) to fight whatever nonsense the cops might have been harassing him with.

So much of what I heard from Cooper over the last few years was so full of bitter hatred and dreadfully paranoid animosity that it doesn't surprise me at all that it ended this way. He was always talking about going out guns-a-blazing. Live by the sword, die by the sword. Armed resistance (ostensibly in self-defence) is a last resort, and one I don't think Cooper had the moral authority to exercise in this instance. Jack-booted dramatics by overzealous cops in the name of self-aggrandizing power is never a good idea. (I don't know the details of Apache County's deputies, but Waco is a great example.) However, I don't think being a violent martyr over an aggravated assault warrant is such a great idea either.

If it was a bogus arrest, better to let it happen and then sue and use the publicity to expose the abuses of power. He would have better served his cause(s) if he had lived to speak, write and inspire another day. That's how Cooper got me started, and it's a shame he won't be doing anything like that ever again.

Bill Cooper Is Dead

Jaye C. Beldo

Netnous@aol.com

Some sad news below about the demise of one William Cooper. I never met the author of Behold a Pale Horse in person but we locked horns a few years ago in an internet flame war posted on the Konformist Web Site. I accused him of fear inducing people via the well known Zapruder Film so they would buy his best selling book and he responded by calling me a 'New Age pimp' amongst other unsavory things.

I did admire the guy for his Pit Bull personality if not his book. We managed to reconcile with one another off line and I realized that he wasn't just another manic paranoid, that he did have a sense of humor and spirit which are rare qualities indeed in the world of conspiracy. Robert Sterling told me that William was closer to the truth than any one else in terms his knowledge of sinister cabals at large. Let us remember Mr. Cooper by keeping the fighting spirit alive here in the Fourth Reich. (which may indeed last a thousand years this time, if we don't.

Sincerely, Jaye C. Beldo

William Cooper Epitaph

Robert D. Morningstar

marstar@escape.com

I was sad to hear of the death of William Cooper who was shot to death by an Arizona deputy sheriff during a shootout in which the deputy was wounded.

William Cooper was one of the most knowledgeable experts in the field of "conspiracy science", the Illuminati, Freemasons, Ufo's and the New World Order. He was a longtime critic of the Warren Commission Report and JFK Cover-up. He was a U.S. Navy veteran who rendered many years of "Silent Service" on submarines and in Naval Intelligence. He was a man who did his duty as a "patriot" as he saw fit. Misguided though he may have been at times,

Cooper always acted from his "conscience" and sought to warn all Americans of the dangers of "creeping Socialism" and Nazism in America.

He was a longtime admirer of President John F. Kennedy. Cooper, who had been a member of the DeMolay Society as a boy, revealed to this writer the arcane symbolism. significance and meaning of the architecture of Dealey Plaza in his own words, "'an open-air temple' to the foundations of Freemasonry in America". Cooper also taught me the real meaning of "007".

I met Cooper in New York City in 1992 and spoke to him several times thereafter regarding the doctoring of the Zapruder Film and the JFK- Tippit Body Swap into mid-1990's. We discussed UFOlogy at length and there are few around today who know as much about the subject as did William Cooper, who had seen a UFO over the Pacific Ocean "as big as an aircraft carrier" tumbling end over end, entering the ocean and rising again from it. Cooper stated that the waters parted before the UFO struck the surface of the oceans "like the parting of the Red Sea in the movie, "The Ten Commandments".

Cooper invited me to join his team on the JFK Assassination but I could not see eye-to-eye with him on the subject of Secret Service involvement in the assassination of JFK.

In particular, I disagreed with him completely on his thesis that William Greer, the SS driver shot the president with a pistol. I felt that he was misinterpreting the doctored film and that a conclusive proof was impossible in view of the deletion of more than half the frames.

I also found Cooper too radical for me in his call for violent action against the Federal government. He was a gun-totin' Westerner who saw himself continuing in the lineage of Davey Crockett and Jim Bowie. Deep within his soul, Cooper possessed and nurtured the mythic image of the Revolutionary American standing at Concord Bridge or on the ramparts of the Alamo. He always said he'd never surrender and that he would go down shooting.

William Cooper was true to his word and his conscience to his very last breath. Whether I agreed with his views and tactics or not, I view him as "a good American". Cooper was a masterful writer and the author of Behold a Pale Horse, a book well worth reading.

With my sympathy and condolences to his family, his friends and followers I conclude with this epitaph:

"Rest in Peace, William Cooper, an American Patriot...Well done!"

Sincerely,

Robert M*

Michele's Memories & William Cooper

believer@telepath.com

Dear Konformist: By now, everyone knows that Bill Cooper was killed on November 6th. This deserves some commentary from someone who knew him well. And I knew him as well, or better, than most. First I must address some issues publicly stated in error by others, and then I want to talk about the Bill I knew.

Regarding:

The Sierra Times

11-6-2001

"According to the Sheriff's report, several deputies were positioned outside the Cooper residence to serve a warrant for Aggravated Assault and two counts of endangerment."

---------------------------

This relates to the incident in which Cooper allegedly pulled a gun and threatened one Dr. Scott Hamblin or Hamlin (not sure of spelling). The issue was over the doctor's presence on some property near Cooper's home, which Cooper did not own. Bill only owned two lots on that small mountain in Eagar, not the whole mountain itself. The dispute may have been a disagreement about trespassing. The incident occurred some time before the attempt to serve the local arrest warrants.

---------------------------

"No where in the report did it mention that Cooper only had one leg - the other lost in combat long ago."

---------------------------

Cooper did not lose his leg in combat. Bill lost his leg in a motorcycle accident, which he alleged was an act of attempted murder. He has talked about this incident many times... about having his motorcycle forced off the road, about being left there for dead, about seeing someone standing over him to make sure he was dead, about his struggle for recovery, about his near-death experience in the hospital...... Those who have known Bill over the years have heard in great detail what happened. But the loss of his leg was not the result of a combat injury.

Bill has worn a prosthetic leg since the accident, but has never functioned as if disabled. He took walks, easily managed the stairs in his small tri-storied cabin-style home with stairs to two different living areas above the ground floor. I watched Bill and two other helpers unload hundreds of boxes containing the 5,000 copies of my book when they were delivered from the publisher. The boxes were heavy and bulky, but Bill had no difficulty with the hard labor. He may have had a prosthesis, but he was not physically limited by it. The only time I ever saw him limp slightly was after a series of long hard days at a conference, during which no one had had much sleep. Fatigue did take a toll at times. But otherwise, he was never really handicapped by the prosthetic leg. Those who did not know Bill very well would never suspect that he had been injured.

---------------------------

"Most who knew of Cooper all state that he was a hard man to get along with - if at all. His demeanor and attitude was 'unfriendly' at best."

---------------------------

All quite true. He was a man of many moods. A teddy bear one moment, a monster the next. To those whom he felt wasted his time or attempted deception, he was extremely "unfriendly." If he ever considered you an enemy, it was for life. But for all his personality flaws and moodiness, one can never fault the quality of his research. You can dislike the man -- but his work stands up under intense scrutiny. He was definitely a difficult man. But his research carries an integrity which cannot be broken.

---------------------------

"Although state-sponsored media called Cooper a 'national militia leader', no one has yet to come forward who was under his command, nor has anyone to this point come forward to claim his 'militia rank'.

---------------------------

The state-sponsored media have never really understood what Bill was all about... nor have many other people, media or otherwise.

There were two completely different organizations about which he wrote, taught, and spoke. One was the Second Continental Army of the Republic, which was/is a militia arm... very secretive, very underground, very well connected, very well insulated, very well trained, very professional.

About this organization you will never uncover anything. They know who they are, and they're not playing games. This organization has maintained its anonymity for almost ten years, and that is as it should be. To be truly effective in this role, you must be almost invisible. The SCAR has achieved this and I am sure they will maintain it. No one who is a part of that particular militia will EVER publicly admit a militia rank. It's just nobody's business, and such public disclosures would do nothing but negate the effectiveness of the group.

The other organization associated with Bill is the Intelligence Service (originally known as CAJI, Citizens Agency for Joint Intelligence), which was the intel-gathering arm of the SCAR. This was purely info-centered... not a militia organization. There was no war-game training, no survival exercises in the woods. The training was specifically geared to gathering information, acquiring it, understanding it, finding its perspective in relation to other information known, determining the accuracy or bias of the information, determining the dependability of sources, putting it all together and documenting trends and activities. The training for those who worked at it was intensive and comprehensive.

Anyone could apply for membership in the Intelligence Service, but not all who applied were accepted. When applying, you had to present credentials of either experience or education, and a thorough background check was performed on all applicants before they were accepted into service. You were assigned a beginning rank based on your background, accomplishments and capabilities, and, depending on the quality of your performance, you might achieve promotion. I joined this organization in late 1994. Before resigning my commission from the Intelligence Service in April of 1997, I earned the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, and coordinated the work of members in four states.

Issues concerning the existence or purpose of the Intelligence Service were never secret -- although some of the information gathered was. Bill talked openly about the Intelligence Service, and asked publicly for participants who could be disciplined thinkers, willing to learn, willing to work, willing to serve. It offered a way for anyone who was accepted to participate, regardless of their age or physical condition. It was a job we all took very seriously, and those who worked received superb leadership training as well.

HOWEVER -- let me be specific about this:

At NO TIME during my three years of service did I ever have contact with, or receive orders from, or give information directly to, anyone known to be involved in the militia arm of the SCAR. I reported directly to Bill, and never to anyone else. I never met anyone who claimed to be a member of the militia arm of the SCAR. And if anyone had claimed this, I would not have believed them. In fact, I would have had every reason to suspect an endangerment or an entrapment had someone made such a claim to me. The members of SCAR will *never* reveal their association. That's just the way it is. And that is the best way for it to remain.

The militia arm of SCAR and the Intelligence Service were two completely different things. They did not and do not intermingle. Bill always encouraged people to form militias in their own state of residence, and to operate in accordance with the laws of that state. But I *never* saw or heard Bill recruit anyone into the militia arm of SCAR ... EVER. That is a private organization and those who are in it handle their own business in their own way under their own leadership structure.

It is silly to look for them or expect to be contacted by them for some publicity purpose. It just won't happen.

So, now Bill is dead. There will undoubtedly be some shuffling and changing within the leadership structure of the Intelligence Service. Many things will change, especially without the radio show. But in a way, this will all lead to what Bill wanted to happen, and knew needed to happen within the patriot community which surrounded him -- as opposed to other factions of the patriot community who hang more on the fringes. There will be no more spoon-feeding of information. If you want it, you will have to dig into it yourself and work to establish the integrity of the research. There will be no more high- visibility -- (as much as there ever was on shortwave or satellite radio). And there will be no more leeching onto the man instead of standing on your own two feet.

During the last conversation that I had with Bill last year, we talked extensively about the need for the development of the underground resistance... and how difficult that was to do as long as people were seeking to "be somebody," to make a name for themselves, or to recruit followers by flamboyant or sensationalist means.

A high-profile, high-visibility person is a complete endangerment to others in a resistance group. The need to learn how to establish and maintain a low-profile and self-sufficient lifestyle is great. The need to accept the desirability and necessity of quiet and invisible service is great. The need to let others take credit in order to maintain invisibility, to develop skills useful in creating these support communities without drawing any attention to them... these are huge needs in the patriot community today. We talked about how difficult it is to establish quiet, local, small resistance groups when people have fallen into dependence on the least secure form of communication in existence today: the internet -- the form of communication which creates a false sense of community. Patriots have huge online communities, but do not know the name of their next door neighbors.

We talked about the need for lifestyle changes to break the isolation. If one's friends are all on the internet, who is really standing by your side?...... physically, in real life, in time of trouble? If there is no one there, there is no support group. If there is a support group, on what basis have you established your mutual trust? There were many questions we discussed, many strategies proposed, many possibilities for the future.

But now Bill is gone. Without the Big Man at the top -- and he was a big man -- perhaps others will seriously take some thought and action about revamping their concepts of what this whole thing was all about.

Bill had two organizations deliberately. The Intelligence Service members received just about all of the training they would ever need to effectively serve in an underground resistance. The underground resistance serves as support for the militia on the field, providing information, food, clothing, safe houses, medical supplies and care, guidance through their geographic areas, and as couriers of messages - - they are the eyes and ears on the ground...... many, many needed things...... and anyone of any age or physical condition can do this. But they must never call attention to themselves, and their loyalty and trustworthiness must be beyond reproach.

They must seem to be so like everyone else as to be invisible. The kinds of relationships needed among people in such a small group must be solid, and the types of skills developed must be varied and at times specialized.

Bill used to say, "Don't organize with anyone you haven't known your whole life." That was a slight exaggeration, but the point was clear. You don't build a dependable resistance organization -- or a militia, for that matter -- out of patriots that you recruit at a Saturday meeting, none of whom you've ever met before. It must be a much quieter, much more private, invisible operation.

Yet for all of his admonitions and teachings, Bill was such a strong personality that many failed to rise to their full potential or to do their own research. They just figured Bill would do it. Or Bill would tell them. Or Bill would lead them. And this was a source of a lot of Bill's frustration and, at times, anger.

And yet Bill always said that the responsibility for EVERYTHING filtered down to the individual. Some people were intimidated by Bill. Others were pissed off by him. Others worshipped at his shrine. None of those things were what Bill wanted. He wanted leaders to rise up in their own areas of concern to take on the work that needed to be done right where they lived.

He wanted small, organized, invisible pockets of support to form in every community, waiting and preparing for the time when their service would be vital to the existence of our nation.

Has that happened in your family? In your neighborhood? What's the hold up?

Bill and I discussed how very difficult it is to form an effective underground resistance after it is needed. People and skills and supplies and methodologies must be in place long before the need arises. And this calls for great patience, and great discretion by those who are doing it.

We just don't talk about any significant details on the internet -- EVER.

And they are not discussed on the telephone. These are issues that must be discussed face-to-face in a secure area among only those with a need to know.

The joke Bill and I always shared about our private conversations was that we'd meet in the middle of a cow pasture to talk. We never actually chatted amidst the cows, but we did have quite a few one-on- one conversations in the expanse of a desert clearing, or by the side of a highway in the middle of nowhere, or by the side of a lake. We just never got to the cows.

Those days are over. They will never come again. It is useful at a time like this to spend some time reflecting on what was taught, what was learned, what was gained, what can be used to advantage, what can help, what can be taken forward into new developments and growth.

Many people have "Bill memories." He was truly a double-sided man, with more than an average amount of everything. When he was patient and kind, no one was more generous than he with his time, knowledge and compassion. When he was annoyed, no one was more irritating, obnoxious, loud-mouthed or grating. When he was paternal, no one was more loving. When he was angry, no one was more dangerous.

That was Bill. Multi-faceted doesn't quite express it. Whatever he was at any given moment, he was that characteristic to the fullest. There was never anything half-assed about Bill. And that may be why even the people who hated him were drawn to him. Even his enemies respected him.

He left his legacy of many things. Some people will cling to their memories, some will cling to tapes of the radio shows. Some will cling to the image they hold of the courageous patriot. But few will practice what he taught. Bill knew it would be that way. But he never gave up trying to change that situation.

If Bill had his way, he'd want the mental training he offered to become the lifestyle. His most basic and most-often stated admonition was: "Prove it to yourself. Prove it in your own research. And if you cannot duplicate the research, don't repeat it." That was a baseline requirement for all of his training. He wanted people to learn how to think, how to really research, how to get past the mere investigative- journalist mindset, how to understand what true intel is and how to use it, how to separate truth from error, how to prioritize issues, how to see the big picture, how to understand its little pieces and their interconnectivity, and how to determine the best course of action to take in light of the information received.....

These were principles that could be applied to any field of endeavor, to any project, to any process. But it is a tall order.

Bill also stressed the necessity of having one's spiritual life in order. To him, it didn't matter what particular belief system a person espoused. Few agreed with all of Bill's religious views. But whether others agreed with him or not was a non-issue. What was important was that people recognize that regardless of their religious choice, when distress and pressure overtook them, they would need to have some source of inner strength, courage, persistence and moral rightness to inspire their believing and action. Bill knew from experience that those matters had to be settled within the human heart before the moment of turmoil came. He dealt with those issues within the context of his own choices. But he never waivered in his admonition to have one's life settled with the Almighty at every moment, as any moment could be one's last.

He also strongly believed that if a militia was ever to have the support of a grassroots underground resistance movement, that militia must at all times possess and hold the moral high ground. It is not just good enough to be armed, trained, determined and aggressive. The soldiers on the field must have the support -- offered in many different ways -- of non-combattant normal folks. And that requires standing for and representing a cause and a purpose that is morally right and morally defensible. And that moral uprightness must be manifested at all times and in all situations, or the grasp on the high ground is loosened and eventually lost. This is why he would so often lose his temper with high-profile militia groups that did stupid things, or that did questionable things that were blown out of proportion by the media... both of which hurt that cause of liberty a great deal. Perception is everything in this kind of situation. He was unmerciful when it came to militia leaders who threatened the cause for everyone by their ill-considered words or deeds.

And yet at the same time, Bill had his share of ill-considered words and deeds. We all know that. But Bill's failure to live perfectly does not negate the truth of, or the need for, that high moral standard. There are no perfect people. We all just do the best we can. But Bill did more than most, and what he taught about the necessity of mental discipline, spiritual stability and moral righteousness is still true.

Bill was a man of wavering moods, intensities of emotion, cold clear decision-making, with many moments of brilliant insight. He was a historian of incredible depth and scope. He was an analyst of intense logic, and also an intuitive thinker. He was a leader of great strength and motivation. He was fun and full of laughter, and he was also fierce and vitriolic. He could drift off for an hour of reminiscences about the girl he danced with when he was 16, and his fine friends in high school. Or he could launch into tirades of fury against which nothing could stand.

He was a friend and close mentor. And he was a major pain in the butt. He was a loving father and husband, and he was an irritating, dogmatic, demanding horses' ass who drove everybody crazy. He had unshakeable character and integrity. And he had moments of behaving like a spoiled brat..........

He was both the best and the worst of all that we know to be part and parcel of being human.

He was, quite simply, a man. And that is how I will remember him. The mixture of memories I have of Bill make him impossible to pin down as just one thing. For three years we talked on the telephone almost every day. We worked together, bickered and argued, laughed and told jokes, talked at great depth about issues, people, trends, and expectations; and we also talked about trivia and matters of no consequence at all.

Bill was never just one thing. He was a man always in the process of becoming, and he was a man on a mission. Some people will think of Bill as a great hero, and in many ways he was. But whatever Bill was, in all of his good attributes and bad habits, he had in all things the courage of his convictions.

I would not classify Bill as one of the world's great role models. Goodness knows there were things about Bill that were just downright awful. But you have to give him credit for the good things of his life -- the integrity of his work, the thoroughness of the training he provided to others, the courage of his stand, the clarity of his vision, his organizational skills, his persistence over such a long time... these are all admirable traits. And Bill possessed them in as great a measure as any man I have ever known. For all of his human frailty, for all of his human flaws, there is still an example of tenacity and solid adherence to the principles of liberty that set Bill apart from all comers.

These things I will remember.

And as we move into tomorrow, and the next day and the day after that, much work remains. Some will lose heart and fall by the wayside. Some will lose interest without the charismatic personality of Bill at the helm. But some will carry on, quietly and invisibly, organizing, analyzing, assessing, learning, preparing, praying, believing.....

When the time comes, we'll be here. And we'll be both reliable and ready.

What greater thing could Bill leave behind than that?... for the country, for us, for the future. It was the structure he was building and the purpose that he taught. Think about the action that you might take in your own life to secure liberty in that little corner where you live. Pray and believe. Be still and be prepared. Be wise and circumspect. Be pragmatic and clear-headed.

Recognize that the road has turned and tactics must change. .........and in this discussion, by this particular medium of communication, nothing more should be said.

God bless!

Thoughts On Bill Cooper

Poor deluded Bill, poor deluded right wingers. Indeed there is a covert government, but it is financed, managed and controlled by persons with right wing (or as call themselves, conservative's). The cable news networks, the major media, the large and multi national corporations are all conservatives, right wing and fascist elitists, who look down on their constituency of "conservative and/or Christians" as mere tools to use, by exciting their emotions.

Adolph Hitler made mention of the short memory of the masses, and in that regard he was quite correct, as he used that short memory to gain power.

The bug a bear of the New World Order, first was publicly aired by George I (George H.W. Bush or Bush 41)

The New World Order is in reality the hegemonistic economic and military dominance of the world, not for the benefit of you and I, but for the benefit of the "conservative" corporations and international financial institutions that really run the world behind the scenes.

Ken Lay - Enron-George Bush are well known to the readers of this newsletter. Are they also aware that the biggest weapons makers and the only manufacturers of nuclear weapons in America are General Electic and Westinghouse, both of whom are run by "conservatives", ex: right wing "family values" man Jack Welch of GE, and GE owns and controls NBC, Westinghouse owns and controls CBS. Rupert Murdoch (an arch conservative) owns Fox, he also owns Staples, the right wing London Times, the New York Post, Harpers Collins, the publishing house which was not going to publish Michael Moore's book, as well as hundreds of other newspapers, magazines and businesses.

Murdoch's influence is so profound that Tony Blair, the PM of England, when running for office, went to Australia, supplicated himself before Murdoch. Blair, ostensibly represents a "Liberal" party in England, Murdoch is an arch "conservative".

It is true that this country is, and has been run by "conservatives", even during the Clinton administration, and indeed Clinton's actions, the one's in which he was effective, versus his lip service, were totally conservative. At the top of the corporate conservative agenda was NAFTA and GAAT, and Clinton threw the full force and weight of the Presidency and the Democratic Party behind the NAFTA and GAAT agenda, thus betraying his labor constituency and labor all over the world. In fact he was probably more effective and instrumental in pursuing the corporate labor agenda than Bob Dole would have been, in as much as he represented and controlled the so called "loyal opposition".

It's a shell game. The current President is, with the consent and demand of apparently most Americans or at least "conservative, god fearing, family values types" propelling us hell bent for election into a jackbooted dictatorship.

The only reason so called "patriots" even support this drive to overturn the constitution, is because their phobias, fears, needs and religious superstitions have been evoked, and they are, by those phobias, fears and needs, the instruments of their own damnation.

They are being tweaked and used. The same incidentally is true of most "liberals", who mimick the "conservatives" in their lack of memory and critical reasoning skills.

Here is how I see the sad state of affairs. There should be a national consensus and a mutual concern that runs through the veins of all American's. If you listen to the right and left, you will hear almost indentical concerns and fears. However humans carry along a lot of other baggage, baggage which should be trivial, and if the person possesses criticial reasoning skills, would be recognized as trivial.

However these trivialities have emotional roots planted in superstition, religion and are watered by psychosexual fears and needs. Which is what really drives us humans, because after all our main purpose on earth our fundamental drive, besides survival, is to reproduce. Which necessitates copulation, which in turn is driven by hormones, which in turn requires the establishment of a belief or feeling of dominance, security, control, superiority and submission depending upon whether one is the male or female.

Poor Bill Cooper was afflicted with this patriarchial obsession and was a male supremacist, which also means that he had to be and was a misogynist, something that he adamantly denied, however to belie his denial, he was easily provoked into a vicious attack for something so innocuous as a woman telling him that she had no need to identify herself as a Mrs or to take up the husbands name and give up her own identity on marriage.

Bill was also, quite apparently, an apocalyptic Christian, which translates into a Fundamentalist, which translates into a patriarchial misogynist and homophobe, and quite possibly he was also a racist (the roots of which are also mired in psychosexual needs, such as the need to breed and thus ensure what one perceives as the after death continuance of their identity (seed), in which their heirs will continue their existence by looking like them (being of the same race, at least).

Poor Bill, a person with whom I might otherwise agree on so many issues, thus created a schism, he identified me as an enemy, and held forth self-righteously as the supreme arbiter of all that is truth, and wished nothing more than to restructure the world, or America at least, in his own narrow image. An image that would preserve his self perceived superiority, safety and security and anyone who had needs that he deemed to be threatening to his own needs, was therefore a threat, an enemy, and thereby he assumed the same stance and position of George W. Bush, and his Jesus, in Matthew12 30 `He who is not with me is against me

This is pretty rigid ground, and demands complete and total agreement, as well as domination and control.

He who takes such a position of intransigence alienates, turns aside and otherwise turns into enemies, those whom share similar opinions or whom might otherwise be allies.

This brings to mind the tactic of "divide and conquer", a tactic that the right wing, and conservatives are especially, but apparently not overtly conscious, of employing, they are playing into the hands of the ruling elite by being so self righteous, so narrow, so unforgiving and close minded.

Which brings to mind Isaiah 19:2 And I armed Egyptians against Egyptians, And they fought, each against his brother, And each against his neighbour, City against city, kingdom against kingdom.

And this is the tactic used, by those whom use or money and blood for their own purposes, to keep us under control like cattle, that we may be milked and slaughtered for their benefit.

For when one looks at the real differences between "conservatives" and "liberals" one see's differences that are in reality trivial, but those differences are fed and magnified by demigogues and "leaders" (religious or secular) whom harrangue and milk those constituencies for the purpose of enhancing their positions, their finances, their social prestige, power and influence.

Those personages with religious needs and susceptibility are the easiest to propagandize, mobilize, manage and control, one needs only play on their fears and needs, then play ventriloquist by speaking for their deity and interpreting for them the words in their holy scripture (true of Islam, Judaism, Christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism, or any religion that has self appointed spokesmen, shaman, priests, rabbi's, ministers or whatever).

Thus, for all the good he could have done otherwise, Bill Cooper was an instrument of his own destruction, in a direct way was responsible for his own death. His underlying message got lost, because he demonized and chose to make enemy over one half of the audience.

Bush as our "Commander In Chief" Not.

I can't blame the media and pundits, such as Dan Rather and Chris Matthews, call Bush their commander in chief, after all they are dependent on their corporate conservative paymasters, and he who signs the paycheck dictates the direction of the spin.

But I can blame so called Patriots, such as this Robinson guy at Free Republic, for calling Bush his commander in chief.

Now these patriots who are suppose to be guarding our constitution, prove themselves ignorant of the document they are suppose to be "guarding" and championing.

Read Article 2, Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, not of civilians, not of me or you, but only of the Armed Forces - unless Bush signed an executive order in the middle of the night that has conscripted the entire population into the Armed Forces.

And as regards the charge of treason against the likes of John Walker, the American Taliban, farcial, since congress has not declared war on Afghanistan, and in fact the Taliban were, just weeks previous, our partners in oil crimes.

New book just out, Ben Laden, The Forbidden Truth by Jean Charles Brisard and Quillaime Dasquie, originally in French, now translated into English. The whole dirty story about Oil, Bush, Reagan, Clinton and the Taliban and Ben Laden.

And this capture and transportation of Afghan fighters to Guantanamo Bay, extra (ill) legal, that's why the government calls them detainee's, not POW's, and in accordance with international law they have no right or jurisdiction to detain a foreign national or kidnap them from their own country. But legalities don't stand in the way of the Bushes or Clinton yet, look at the invasion of Panama, another violation of a nations sovereignity, another illegal act actually condemned by the U.N., then again the U.S. could care less what the U.N. says or does, and that blows away another arm of the New World Conspiracy theory in which the U.S. will be taken over by the U.N., the opposite is actually the truth, and perhaps that is the purpose behind the right wing spin of a U.N. conspiracy theory.

If one wishes to make any sense of the world around us, then consider the following as an axiom.

The opposite is true. That is take everything you hear from the media, from the government and even from "trusted" organizations and look at them in the mirror. After all, "they" have successfully infiltrated and coopted most so called movements, just like "they" created the "terrorist network" Hamas, which is now being used to continue the violence, which is used as an excuse to continue the bulldozing and dispossession of the Palestinians.

Read by reverses, the mirror effect, the opposite is true and George Bush is no one's commander in chief, unless they are on active duty and subject to the Uniform Code of Military Justice.

Which brings up another subject, Military Tribunals. Again totally illegal and unconstitutional when applied to civilians and foreign nationals. To be subject to the Uniform Code of Military Justice and Military "Tribunals" one must be on active duty in the military, the code does not apply to civilians, except perhaps only in a state of Martial Law. Has Martial Law been declared over the entire world or the U.S. even, yet? Does the United States have jurisdiction over Afghanistan or any other country, if not then why are FBI agents on the ground in those countries. The deployment of the FBI and other police forces overseas, is as illegal as the deployment of military forces in the U.S. against it's own citizens. That's why it is the National Guard in Airports and not the 82nd Airborne.

Then again twas Republican Eisenhower who deployed our military forces against the populace in Little Rock, albeit the cause was just and sufficient, but never the less unconstitutional.

I reiterate my points. Bush is not "our" commander in chief, the United States is not at war, therefore the charge of treason can not stick (the execution of the Rosenberg's was illegal for that reason as well, since we weren't officially at war with Russia). If John Walker, who joined the Taliban months before 9-11 is a traitor, then so is George Bush who had given them $43 million dollars just weeks before bombing them. Military Tribunals as applied to civilians and foreign nationals are illegal, according to National and International Law, the holding of foreign nationals, kidnapped from their native soil in confinement as "detainee's" and subjecting them to degrading and inhuman conditions is also illegal, according to International law.

None of this stops the war machine, and the onward jackbooted march of the New World Order, a march led by "conservative" media and pundits who draw their wages and profits off the production of war materials, and "free" unfettered international trade, which enables them to export jobs, exploit cheap foreign labor and reduce the wages and income of loyal conservative patriots.

Now if the right wing could get over it's religious fantasies, and trivial "family" values issues, and start talking to the "socialistic" anti WTO, and anti New World Order "left", "they" - the real conservative ruling elite, would be in a heap of camel dung.

Stay tuned for more developments....
